        Effects of Phenytoin and Diazepam on the Seizure Activity in the Cortical Dysplasia Animal Models

        Dysplasia-associated seizure disorders are markedly resistant to pharmacological intervention. Relatively little research has been conducted studying the effects of antiepileptic drugs(AEDs) on seizure activity in a rat model of dysplasia. We have used rats exposed to methylazoxymethanol acetate(MAM) in utero, an animal model featuring nodular heterotopia, to investigate the effects of AEDs in the dysplastic brain. Pilocarpine was used to induce acute seizure in MAM-exposed and age-matched vehicle-injucted control animals. Field potential recordings were used to monitor amplitude and numbers population spikes, and paired pulse inhibition in response to stimulation of commissural pathway. Two commonly used AEDs were tested: diazepam 5, 2.5mg/kg;phenytoin 40, 60mg/kg. Diazepam(DZP) and phenytoin(PHT) reduced the amplitude of population spike in control and MAM-exposed rats. However, the amplitude of population spike was nearly eliminated in control rats as compared to the MAM-exposed rats. Pharmaco-resistance was tested by measuring seizure latencies in awake rats after pilocarpine administration(320mg/kg, i.p.) with and without pretreatment with AEDs. Pre-treatment with PHT 60 mg prolonged seizure latency in control rats, but not in MAM-exposed animals. The main findings of this study are that acute seizures initiated in MAM-exposed rats are relatively resistant to standard AEDs assessed in vivo. These data suggest that animal model with cortical dysplasia can be used to screen the effects of potential AEDs.

      • Improved Adhesion of Metal Electrode Layer on Si<sub>3</sub>N<sub>4</sub> Substrate through an All-Wet Process

        <P>Electroless deposition requires preliminary surface treatment to effectively adsorb a metal electrode layer onto a ceramic substrate. Herein, a simple surface treatment using an all-wet process was performed to achieve adhesion stability between a Si<SUB>3</SUB>N<SUB>4</SUB> substrate and Ni film. The method involved deposition of an interfacial Pd-TiO<SUB>2</SUB> buffer between the two layers. Surface pretreatment via silanization was initially performed to improve surface wettability, thereby enhancing uniform deposition of Pd-TiO<SUB>2</SUB>. Subsequently, a thin Ni layer was directly deposited onto the Pd-TiO<SUB>2</SUB> layer without necessitating sensitization or activation. The synthesized Ni/Pd-TiO<SUB>2</SUB>/Si<SUB>3</SUB>N<SUB>4</SUB> heat sink exhibited excellent adhesion property in the cross-hatch, scratch, and thermal shock tests. The mechanism of adhesion enhancement involved chemical bonding of Pd-TiO<SUB>2</SUB> with the self-assembled monolayer on the substrate and reduced internal stress due to removal of residual hydrogen between the layers of the heat sink. Thus, the fabricated heat sink has a promising application in electronic devices operated at high temperatures.</P>

        Axial length is major determinant of ocular refractive power. The purpose of this study was to establish the interrelationship among axial length, anterior lens capsule to retina length(ACRL), refractive states, and corneal refractive power. We measured above four variables of 364 normal adult eyes. The results were as follows: 1. The mean axial length and ACRL of all 364 eyes were 24.93(±1.25mm) and 21.59(±1.20mm) respectively. 2. The mean axial length and ACRL of 63 eyes within ±1 diopter were 23.64(±0.82mm) and 20.34(±0.79mm) respectively. 3. Refractive states, axial length, and ACRL were closely associated. The coefficient of correlation between refractive states and axial length is r=-0.7542(p<0.001), the one between refractive states and ACRL is r=-0.7526(p<0.001). 4. The coefficient of correlation between corneal refractive power and axial length is r=-0.3589(p<0.001), the one between corneal refractive power and ACRL is r=-0.3727(p<0.001). 5. Axial length/ACRL ratio of 63 eyes within ±1 diopter is 1.16(±0.02).

      • 瀉白散의 肥滿細胞 嫫介性 炎症性 細胞活性物質 分泌 抑制 效果

        Ocjective : Sabaeksan has been used for the purpose of prevention and treatment of bronchial asthma and allergic asthma in korea. Methods : To investigate the biological effect of Sabaeksan, the author examined cytotoxicity and inflammatory cytokines secretion with human leukemic mast cell line, HMC-1. HMC-1 was stimulated with phorbol 12-myristate 13-acetate (PMA) and calcium ionophore A23187. Sabaeksan by itself had no effect on viability of HMC-1. Result : The effects of Sabaeksan on the secretion of tumor necrosis factor-alpha (TNF-α) and interleukin (IL)-6 from HMC-1 were evaluated with enzyme-linked immunosorbent assay. Sabaeksan (1 mg/㎖) inhibited PMA plus A23187-stimulated TNF-α and IL-6 secretion, by 43.86 ± 5.26%, 56.39 ± 3.65%, respectively. Sabaeksan also inhibited the NF-κB (p50/p65) expression. Conclusion : Taken together, these results suggest that Sabaeksan inhibit the production of inflammatory cytokines in HMC-1 cells through blockade of NF-κB activation.

        디벤조-18-크라운-6가 함유된 액체막을 통한 피크린산칼륨과 요오드화칼륨의 운반속도를 각 칼륨염의 농도 변화에 따라 측정하였다. 음이온의 종류에 따라 운반 메카니즘이 크게 다르게 나타나고 있다. 피크린산칼륨은 이온 확산에 가깝고, 요오드화칼륨은 이온 쌍 확산으로 운반되는 것 같다. The transport mechani는 of potassium picrate and potassium iodide across the liquid membrane containing dibenzo-18-crown-6 were studied by measuring the transport rate of the potassium salts. Potassium picrate seems to be transposted by the ionic diffusion but potassium iodide by the ion-pair.

      • 능력별 과제학습이 수학과 학업성취와 태도에 미치는 효과

        본 연구는 수준별 교육 과정의 도입이 주요 골자인 제7차 교육과정의 시행을 앞두고 농어촌지역의 소규모 학교에서 시도할 수 있는 수업 모형을 개발하고, 능력별 과제학습 카드의 활용을 통한 수업이 학생들의 학업 성취 수준과 수학과 학습 태도에 미치는 효과를 검증하기 위한 연구로서 능력별 과제학습 카드를 활용한 지도가 전통적인 수업 방식에 비해 학생들의 학업 성취 수준과 향상과 학습태도의 변화에 효과적임을 입증할 수 있었다. 특히 상위 집단의 학생들 보다 중위 집단과 하위 집단의 학생들에게 더욱 효과적임을 알 수 있었다. In 7-th curriculum put in force in 2000, we will apply the curriculum according to the level to enlarge the growth potentiality and the efficiency of an education greatest. The purpose of this study is to develop the teaching model applicable in a small school, and for the students to learn according to their ability. Consequently the subject learning according to the ability was more effective to the advancement of the scholastic attainment than a traditional teaching method.

      • 지문영상으로부터 개선된 세선화 영상 추출에 관한 연구

        자동 지문 패턴 인식에 있어서 가장 중요한 단계는 입력된 지문영상에서 신뢰할 수 있는 특징을 추출해 내는 것이다. 그렇지만, 특징 추출의 전 단계인 전처리 과정에서 영상개선과 세선화 과정 역시 중요하다. 본 연구에서는 256 그레이 레벨로 입력된 지문영상으로부터 잡음제거 및 영상 개선하기 위한 Over Lapping Histogram 알고리즘과 Parallel thinning 알고리즘을 적용하여 개선된 세선화 영상을 추출하는 방법을 제안 하였다. 그리고, 기존의 알려진 방법들과 비교 실험한 결과 제안된 알고리즘의 영상이 기존의 알고리즘에 적용했을 때 보다 개선된 세선화 영상 추출이 가능하였으며, 영상품질 역시 우수함을 나타내었다. An Important process of Automatic Fingerprint Pattern Recognition is to extract relible feature from the input fingerprint image. However, It is important to image enhancement and thining progress from preprocess of previous step of feature extraction. Now, In this using Over lapping Histrogram. And we get image at this progress and adaptive of parallel thining algorithm that extracted improve thining image. The experimental results are confirmed that the improvement of quality of 256 gray level fingerprint images comparision with the existing well known methods.

      • 선택성 용매화의 특성에 관한 연구(Ⅰ) : 혼합용매계에서의 Ag₂S전극의 성질과 그 응용 The Properties and the Applications of Ag₂S-ion Selective Electrode in Mixed Solvent Systems

        수용액에서 Ag₂S 이온선택성전극의 특성은 잘 알려져 있다. 그러나 이 전극의 비수용매 또는 혼합용매계에서의 행동은 거의 알려진바 없다. 이 논문은 물-유기용매의 혼합용매계에서의 Ag₂S전극의 성질을 규명하려는 몇 가지 실험결과를 보이고 있다. 또한 Ag+이온의 선택성 용매화의 메카니즘에 관한 연구를 Ag₂S 전극을 이용하여 수행할 수 있음도 보이려고 한다. 할로겐화 이온 및 그들의 혼합물을 Ag₂S 전극을 사용하여 50%-MeOH용매계에서 분석하였다. 그 결과 은에 대한 전극 반응은 순수한 물에서의 것과 매우 유사하였다. The properties of Ag₂S ion-selective electrode in aqueous solvents well known. Very little is known, however, about the performance of this electrode in the systems of non-aqueous or mixed solvents. This paper presents the results of some experiments which is carried out to determine the properties of the silver sulfide electrode in water-organic mixed solvents. And it also shows the possibilities of studies on the selective solvation mechanism of silver ion by using the electrode. The halide ions and halide ion mixtures have been analyzed by potentionmetric titration using the electrode in 50% methanol system. As the result, the electrode response to silver ion in pure water and mixed solvent system is very similar.
