Controlled Synthesis of Hydroxyapatite Using a Novel Natural Rosin-Based Surfactant

        Shu-Hui Zhan,Xue-He Jiang,Juan Li,Zhi Meng,Lin-Lin Chen,Chun-Rui Han 성균관대학교(자연과학캠퍼스) 성균나노과학기술원 2017 NANO Vol.12 No.8

Hydroxyapatite (HAP) with multiform morphologies, such as hollow dandelion-like bundles and nanoparticles with a diameter of 50 nm, was prepared using natural rosin-based surfactant dehydroabietyl phosphate diester (DDPD) as phosphorus source, crystal growth control agent, and template simultaneously by a facile hydrothermal method. Samples were obtained and characterized by X-ray powder diffraction (XRD), Fourier-transform infrared spectroscopy (FTIR), and scanning electron microscopy (SEM). Results showed that DDPD and pH value of solution were the key factors for the morphology of HAP. Hollow dandelion-like bundles HAP, containing the Ca-monodehydroabietyl phosphate (PM-Ca) organic metal compounds, were formed at pH=3 without acid-base regulation, and nanoparticles were obtained at pH=12. SEM exhibited that the hollow dandelion-like bundles HAP are of 10 μm (outer) and 1 μm (inner) diameter, respectively. Cell viabilities are above 95% when the cells are co-cultured with all HAP samples at concentrations in the range of 250–1000 μg/ml. It indicated that the prepared HAP with PM-Ca has a good cytocompatibility without apparent toxicity. Finally, the possible formation mechanism of the HAP microstructures was discussed in detail.

Glulam Beam-to-Column Connection with Coupled Steel Rods with Screwheads: Concept and Experimental Verifications

        Zhan Shu,Bo Ning,Hanlin Dong,Zheng Li,Zengxin Peng,Yiyu Yang 대한토목학회 2023 KSCE Journal of Civil Engineering Vol.27 No.6

The bolted connections with slotted-in steel plates are basic beam-to-column connections of modern post-and-beam timber building structures. However, due to significantly pinched rotational behaviors, the moment resistance of such connections are usually ignored in design. In this study, the connection-level moment resistance is enabled for modern glulam frame structures with an innovative connection design. A pair of long steel rods with screwheads is designed to generate a force couple at the sides of the connection. The proposed connection could be considered as the key lateral force resisting component, indicating a significant reduction of lateral braces and shear walls. Specimens of the target connection were carefully designed and tested in the lab to obtain their mechanical properties and failure modes. Finite element models were established and calibrated according to the tested data. The moment-rotation curves of the new connection could be easily estimated through a fitted formula. Moreover, the suggestions to improve the proposed connection is also discussed based on the observed damage modes. Results show that the new connection could be treated as rigid moment-resisting connections while the ductility could be further improved.

        짠수(Shu Zhan),이상윤(Sang Yoon Lee) 한국엔터테인먼트산업학회 2021 한국엔터테인먼트산업학회 학술대회 논문집 Vol.2021 No.5

This study considered the possibility of applying semiotic methods in performing sound analysis of film works. In particular, it focused on the possibility that the sound in animation could be analyzed semiotically. This study attempted to present an approach to apply signifier, signified, and semiosis in semiotics to sound analysis of animation. The visual and auditory shapes of animation characters were viewed as signifiers. The visual and auditory meaning of the factors that determine the signified of each signifier can be understood as individual semiosis. Furthermore, the possibility of application of an analysis frame was proposed that the meaning of temporal and spatial narrative that occurs when visual and auditory shapes meet each other can be understood as a semiosis as an extended meaning. Therefore, this study aims to present the foundation of the applicability of semiotics for the analysis of animation sound as an analysis tool.

Effect of qigong exercise and acupressure rehabilitation program on pulmonary function and respiratory symptoms in patients hospitalized with severe COVID-19: A randomized controlled trial

        Shu-ting Liu,Chao Zhan,Yun-jing Ma,Chao-yang Guo,Wei Chen,Xiao-ming Fang,Lei Fang 한국한의학연구원 2021 Integrative Medicine Research Vol.10 No.-

Background There are several effective complementary and integrative therapies for patients with severe COVID-19. The trial aims to evaluate the efficacy and advantages of the qigong exercise and acupressure rehabilitation program (QARP) for treating patients with severe COVID-19. Methods A total of 128 patients with COVID-19 aged 20 to 80 years were recruited and randomly allocated in a 1:1 ratio to receive QARP plus standard therapies or standard therapies alone. QARP consisted of acupressure therapy and qigong exercise (Liu Zi Jue). The primary outcome was measured with the modified Medical Research Council (mMRC) dyspnea scale, and the secondary outcomes included the modified Borg dyspnea scale (MBS), fatigue Scale-14 (FS-14), patient health questionnaire-9 scale (PHQ-9), duration of respiratory symptoms, and vital signs. Results In total, 128 patients completed the clinical trial. The QARP group and standard therapies group showed significant improvements in vital signs (except blood pressure) and clinical scales compared with baseline (p<0.05). The QARP group also showed more significant improvement in the mMRC dyspnea scale (-1.8 [-2.1, -1.6], p=0.018) and modified Borg dyspnea scale (-3.7 [95% confidence intervals (CI) -4.3, -3.1], p=0.045). The duration of cough was 14.3 days (95% CI 12.6, 16.1, p=0.046), and the length of hospital stay was 18.5 days (95% CI 17.0, 20.0, p=0.042) in the QARP group, both of which were significantly reduced compared with the standard therapies group (p<0.05). Conclusion QARP plus standard therapies improved lung function and symptoms such as dyspnea and cough in patients with severe COVID-19 and shortened the length of hospital stay. Therefore, QARP may be considered an effective treatment option for patients with severe COVID-19. Global O(t-ρ) Synchronization of Multiple Fractional-order Neural Networks With Time Delay via Event-triggered Control

        Yukun Shu,Xiaoli Ruan,Xisheng Zhan 제어·로봇·시스템학회 2023 International Journal of Control, Automation, and Vol.21 No.10

This article investigates the global O(t-ρ) synchronization problem for multiple fractional-order neural networks (MFNNs) with time delay. By utilizing the unique properties of fractional-order calculus, namely hereditary and infinite memory, a new design scheme of the event-triggered non-Laplacian coupling control strategy is proposed. Compared with the Laplacian coupling matrix, non-Laplacian coupling matrix nondiagonal elements can be arbitrary and row sums can be same nonzero constant. With the introduced rules, by using a Razumikhin-type method, some less conservative sufficient conditions are derived to assure the global O(t-ρ) synchronization of MFNNs with time delay. Furthermore, in order to prohibit Zeno behavior in the MFNNs with time delay, lower bounds of two consecutive events are also gathered. Finally, simulation results verify the validity of the analysis.

      • Combined Detection of CEA, CA 19-9, CA 242 and CA 50 in the Diagnosis and Prognosis of Resectable Gastric Cancer

Tian, Shu-Bo,Yu, Jian-Chun,Kang, Wei-Ming,Ma, Zhi-Qiang,Ye, Xin,Cao, Zhan-Jiang,Yan, Chao Asian Pacific Journal of Cancer Prevention 2014 Asian Pacific journal of cancer prevention Vol.15 No.15

Our aim was to investigate the value of combined detection of serum carcinoembryonic antigen (CEA), carbohydrate antigen (CA) 19-9, CA 242 and CA 50 in diagnosis and assessment of prognosis in consecutive gastric cancer patients. Clinical data including preoperative serum CEA, CA 19-9, CA 242, and CA 50 values and information on clinical pathological factors were collected and analyzed retrospectively. Univariate and multivariate survival analyses were used to explore the relationship between tumor markers and survival. Positive rates of tumor markers CEA, CA 19-9, CA 242 and CA 50 in the diagnosis of gastric cancer were 17.7, 17.1, 20.4 and 13.8%, respectively, and the positive rate for all four markers combined was 36.6%. Patients with elevated preoperative serum concentrations of CEA, CA 19-9, CA 242 and CA 50, had late clinical tumor stage and significantly poorer overall survival. Five-year survival rates in patients with elevated CEA, CA 19-9, CA 242 and CA 50 were 28.1, 25.8, 27.0 and 24.1%, respectively, compared with 55.0, 55.4, 56.4 and 54.5% in patients with these markers at normal levels (p<0.01). In multivariate Cox proportional hazards analyses, an elevated CA 242 level was determined to be an independent prognostic marker in gastric cancer patients. Combined detection of four tumor markers increased the positive rate for gastric cancer diagnosis. CA 242 showed higher diagnostic value and CA 50 showed lower diagnostic value. In resectable gastric carcinoma, preoperative CA 242 level was associated with disease stage, and was found to be a significant independent prognostic marker in gastric cancer patients.

      • Quantitative Presentation of the Systematic Relationships Between S. sudanense and S. bicolor

        Qiu-Wen Zhan,Ping Lin,Jie-Qin Li,Min Zu,Jun-Cheng Fan,Ya Chen,Fei Fan,Shi-fu Shu 한국초지조사료학회 2009 한국초지조사료학회 학술대회논문집 Vol.2009 No.08

Fifty-four biological characters were used for quantitative classification of sorghum and sudangrass and their relationship. Discriminant analysis of all 240 individuals of 48 accessions suggested that 100% of originally grouped cases were correctly classified. Analysis of variance results showed that the differences among 48 accessions in characters were significant at the 0.01 level. Cluster analysis showed that the 48 accessions were obviously divided into two clusters by a Euclidean distance of 17.46 as the classification standards, i.e. the genus maize and genus sorghum. The 48 accessions were divided into four clusters by a Euclidean distance of 9.86, i.e. Sorghum-Sudangrass, Sorghum related species (S. propinquum and S. halepense), Zea mexicana and Z. mays. All accessions were divided into five clusters by a Euclidean distance of 8.91, namely group Ⅰ (Sudangrass-Chinese sorghum), group Ⅱ (Non-Chinese sorghum), group Ⅲ (Sorghum related species), group Ⅳ (Zea mexicana), and group Ⅴ (Z mays).

      • Model Predictive Control of Neutral Point Clamped Inverter with Reduced Switching Frequency

        Mu Li,Shu Zhan,Bing Chu,Xingda Yan 전력전자학회 2019 ICPE(ISPE)논문집 Vol.2019 No.5

This paper proposes a novel model predictive control (MPC) algorithm with reduced switching frequency for Neutral Point Clamped (NPC) inverters. The proposed method can reduce the switching frequency through the optimization of switching sequences, while keeping the advantages of the conventional MPC method such as fast response and handling multiple constraints. The performance of this proposed method is verified by simulation results with a three-level NPC inverter.

Adaptive Active Contour Model: a Localized Mutual Information Approach for Medical Image Segmentation

( Shuanglu Dai ),( Shu Zhan ),( Ning Song ) 한국인터넷정보학회 2015 KSII Transactions on Internet and Information Syst Vol.9 No.5

Troubles are often met when traditional active contours extract boundaries of medical images with inhomogeneous bias and various noises. Focusing on such a circumstance, a localized mutual information active contour model is discussed in the paper. By defining neighborhood of each point on the level set, mutual information is introduced to describe the relationship between the zero level set and image field. A driving energy term is then generated by integrating all the information. In addition, an expanding energy and internal energy are designed to regularize the driving energy. Contrary to piecewise constant model, new model has a better command of driving the contours without initialization.
