Day-Ahead Net Load Forecasting With Behind the Meter PV Generation Using Ensemble Learning
Shree Krishna Acharya(시리 크리스나 아차레),Hwanuk Yu(유환욱),Jaehee Lee(이재희) 대한전기학회 2021 대한전기학회 학술대회 논문집 Vol.2021 No.10
As modern power grid incorporate many behind-the-meter (BTM) PV generations which is unknown in the system level, load forecasting task has facing many issues. The incomplete information of the BTM PV generation is burdening to the load forecasting performance. In this paper, a novel ensemble learning method is propose to enhance the net load forecasting accuracy without taking metering data from the BTM PV generations. The proposed method incorporates forecasting results from actual load and front-of-the-meter (FTM) PV generation data. Simulation results show better performance with the proposed method as compared to the conventional load forecasting method.

This study analyzed the spatial and temporal trends of diurnal temperature range (DTR) for 35-years (1983–2017) in the region of the Subarnarekha river basin of Jharkhand, India. The daily data of maximum temperature (Tmax) and minimum temperature (Tmin) were habituated to compute the DTR, whereas rainfall data is used to measure its relationship with DTR, on a monthly annual and seasonal basis. Mann–Kendall test and Sen’s slope method has been used to detect the increasing or decreasing trends in climatic data with their statistical significance. The annual mean DTR of the basin is 11.97 C With a maximum in pre-monsoon (16.36 C) and minimum in monsoon (6.94 C). A significant negative trend (- 0.31 C/decade) was observed in annual DTR over the basin. On a seasonal basis, all four seasons show a negative trend in DTR with the largest significant decreasing trend in the pre-monsoon season (- 0.49 C/decade). On an annual and seasonal basis, a significant negative correlation between DTR and rainfall is found, indicating that rainfall has a significant impact on the variation of DTR in this basin. A concomitant increase in rainfall might be one of the possible causes of the decreases in DTR in the basin.
Smart Charging for Grid-Connected Electric Vehicles to Provide Regulation Service
Shree Krishna Acharya,Kyung-Ho Choi,Young-Min Wi,Jaehee Lee 한국조명·전기설비학회 2018 조명·전기설비학회논문지 Vol.32 No.1
In the power system, grid-connected electric vehicles (EVs) have been considered as attractive resources that provide demand response (DR) and regulation service by controlling the charging power. However, due to the minimum resource size requirements in the electricity market, individual EVs are required to be aggregated by EV charging service providers (CSPs). The CSPs can minimize the charging costs of individual EVs by scheduling EV charging power considering electricity rates. At the same time, the CSPs benefits from the electricity market by providing the DR and regulation capacity. This paper proposes a systematic scheduling method for smart charging to maximize the benefits of CSP from the ancillary service (AS) market and demand response (DR) market as well as to minimize its charging cost. Numerical examples are also presented in order to demonstrate the effectiveness of the proposed scheduling model.

The potential antiviral effects of the culture filtrates (CF) from Serratia marcescens strain Gsm01 against yellow strain of Cucumber mosaic virus (CMV-Y) were investigated. The culture filtrate of S. marcescens strain Gsm01 applied on Chenopodium amaranticolor showed high inhibitory activity, likewise no necrosis appeared when applied on the tobacco plants 2 days before CMVY inoculation. When plants were challenge inoculated with CMV-Y for eighteen days, the disease incidence in plants with culture filtrate of S. marcescens Gsm01 did not exceed 59%, whereas 100% of control plants were severely infected. The results of double antibody sandwich- enzyme linked immunosorbent assay (DAS-ELISA), reverse transcriptase polymerase chain reaction (RTPCR), dot blotting, and western blotting showed that culture filtrate treatment highly affected the accumulation of CMV-Y or its CP protein gene in the treated plant leaves. It was also observed that the culture filtrate had no RNase activity on genomic RNAs of CMV-Y, suggesting that culture filtrate may not contain ribosome inactivating proteins (RIPs) or proteins with RNase activity. These data shows that culture filtrate of S. marcescens strain Gsm01 seems to be a promising source of antiviral substance for the practical use.

Inhibition of key enzymes is a good strategy to effectively control diabetes mellitus (DM), hypertension (HT) and cardiovascular diseases (CVDs). Very restricted reports are available for the enzyme inhibitory property of Coccinia grandis (Cg) immature fruits. In the above background, the present study aims to explore the α-amylase, invertase, cholesterol esterase (CEase) and angiotensin converting enzyme (ACE) inhibitory properties of Cg. Two dimensional preparative thin layer chromatography (2D PTLC) coupled high resolution liquid chromatography–mass spectrometry (HRLC–MS2) purified polyphenolic eluate was investigated for the enzyme inhibitory properties. Hot water extracts of Coccinia grandis (HWE-Cg) has showed strong inhibitory effect against α- amylase (97.17 ± 0.01%), invertase (97 ± 0.02%) and cholesterol esterase (83.6 ± 0.001%), and moderate activity against ACE (73.62 ± 0.001%) than organic solvent extracts (OSE-Cg). Microwave assisted process optimization has revealed a drastic reduction in time duration and material ratio, but no improvement in ACE inhibitory activity. Eight different polyphenols that includes hydroxyl ferulic acid (m/z 205), apigenin (m/z 277), isorhamnetin-O-sophoroside (m/z 640) and isoscutellarein-O-pentoside (m/z 415) were purified and predicted using 2D PTLC and HRLC-MS2 techniques, respectively. The eluate has established significant inhibitory effect against CEase (81.12 ± 0.10%) and amylase (62.28 ± 0.12%), than invertase (34.43 ± 0.11%) and ACE (20.12 ± 0.14%). Moreover, controlled drug release profile was recorded by HWE-Cg loaded calcium alginate beads and filled SS316L stainless steel bioimplant. Hence, Coccinia grandis can be used as traditional medicine to regulate DM, HT and CVDs.

The Pew Research Center survey reports an increasing unfavorable view of China worldwide. In the Soft Power 30 index, China fares at a rank of 27th, far behind its aim of global leadership. The world’s leading economic power (in terms of purchasing power parity), a military power second only to the United States, a nation with a formidable global presence, a robust civilization and culture, however, still struggles to generate international affinity and credibility one might expect of the great middle kingdom. Acknowledging the benefits of soft power, China has continuously been engaged in the competitive politics of attraction, legitimacy, and credibility; however, Beijing’s charm offensive still has limited appeal in the outside world. The popular assessments point toward China’s authoritarian political model or poor state of civil liberties for the limited effectiveness of its soft power push. However, in this article we argue that besides the political and ideological factors limiting its soft power, China’s absolute or relative soft power gains are majorly undercut because of its coercive diplomacy exercised with the unbridled pursuit of its core national interests and hyper-nationalism. The article provides an interpretive illustration of how China’s disposition to rely on hard power instruments of carrot (inducement) and stick (threat, coercion, or intimidation) to get desired outcomes undermines the quest and effect of its soft power.
