This paper presents the results of numerical modeling studies on the effect of displacements of tunneling in granular soils. Presence of building loads is considered, to find displacement generated at the surface on tunnel. Effect of varying eccentricities of building is simulated, to find influence of building on vertical and horizontal displacement. Studies were carried out in two cases of with and without a geosynthetic layer installed at the bottom of the footing. Results of analysis revealed, the presence of geosynthetic layer under footing, with building placed on centre line, reduced the surface displacements compared to displacement generated without geosynthetic layer. Presence of geosynthetic layer under footing had a dominant effect in reducing displacements in high storey structures. However, when the building was shifted to greater eccentricities from centre line, presence of geosynthetic layer, led to insignificant reduction of displacements on the centre line at the surface.
CERTAIN RATIONAL FUNCTION OF SINGULAR MODULI FOUND IN RAMANUJAN'S FIRST NOTEBOOK

On page 312 in his rst notebook, Ramanujan denes a certain rational function of singular moduli Un and records 11 explicit values of Un. All these values have been proved by using the known values of the class invariant gn. In this paper, we establish modular relation between certain rational function of singular moduli Un and Uk2n for k = 2; 3; 5; 7; 9 and 11. As an application, we also establish several new values of Un.

Pigeonpea, a drought tolerant, semi-arid pulse crop has been investigated for the expression of differentially expressed genes (DEGs) under drought stress. The cDNA library of soybean leaf tissue retrieved from the Unigene database of the NCBI, were compared for in silico expression using IDEG6 web statistical tool. A list of 52 non-redundant DEGs consisting of 11 up-regulated and 41 down-regulated was obtained. Among these, more photosynthesis and light harvesting proteins were down-regulated in drought stress conditions. Pathways were assigned based on KEGG database, revealing 32 genes involved in 17 metabolic pathways. Homologous sequences of six up-regulated genes namely, ADF3, APB, ASR, DLP, LTP1, and UGE5 were then used for quantitative reverse transcription PCR (qRT-PCR) in pigeonpea. The qRT-PCR result revealed the significant up-regulation of dehydrin-like protein (DLP) (5.02 log2 fold) and down-regulation of acid phosphatase class B family protein (APB) (9.43 log2 fold) and non-specific lipid transfer protein 1-like (LTP1) (18.81 log2 fold) in pigeonpea water-stressed leaf sample compared to well-watered leaf samples. No significant difference was observed in the stressed root compared to the stressed pigeonpea leaf sample except that APB showed an up-regulation of 11.35 log2 fold change.

The yields of various fission products in the neutron-induced fission of 238U with the flux-weightedaveragedneutron energies of 9.35 MeV and 12.52 MeV were determined by using an off-line gammarayspectroscopic technique. The neutrons were generated using the 7Li(p, n) reaction at BhabhaAtomic Research Centre-Tata Institute of Fundamental Research Pelletron facility, Mumbai. Thegamma- ray activities of the fission products were counted in a highly-shielded HPGe detector overa period of several weeks to identify the decaying fission products. At both the neutron energies, thefission-yield values are reported for twelve fission product. The results obtained from the presentwork have been compared with the similar data for mono-energetic neutrons of comparable energyfrom the literature and are found to be in good agreement. The peak-to-valley (P/V) ratios werecalculated from the fission-yield data and were found to decreases for neutron energy from 9.35 to12.52 MeV, which indicates the role of excitation energy. The effect of the nuclear structure on thefission product-yield is discussed.
Seismic response analysis of reinforced concrete frames including soil flexibility

The seismic response of RC space frame structures with isolated footing resting on a shallow soil stratum on rock is presented in this paper. Homogeneous soil stratum of different stiffness in the very soft to stiff range is considered. Soil, footing and super structure are considered to be the parts of an integral system. A finite element model of the integrated system is developed and subjected to scaled acceleration time histories recorded during two different real earthquakes. Dynamic analysis is performed using mode superposition method of transient analysis. A parametric study is conducted to investigate the effect of flexibility of soil in the dynamic behaviour of low-rise building frames. The time histories and Fourier spectra of roof displacement, base shear and structural response quantities of the space frame on compliant base are presented and compared with the fixed base condition. Results indicate that the incorporation of soil flexibility is required for the realistic estimate of structural seismic response especially for single storey structures resting on very soft soil.

This retrospective case-control study compared classic ET patients with age and sex-matched controls. The ET population was subgrouped based on auditory perceptual voice analysis. Electroglottography and acoustic voice samples obtained from both groups were analyzed for contact quotient (CQ) and multidimensional voice program parameters, i.e., fundamental frequency (F0), perturbation, noise, and tremor parameters.
