A wide variety of books made out of woodblock, in short woodblock picture books, were created during and throughout the Edo Period. Tsuneo Takeda in “Kinsei Osaka Gadan” (“Art World of Osaka Painting In the Pre Modern Edo Period”, Dohosha Shuppan, 1973), stresses the importance of woodblock picture books in the art world of pre?modern Osaka painting by asserting, “the need to take note of the fact that the tradition of illustrative woodblock picture books that originated with Morikuni Tachibana and Shunboku Osaka went on to become an important repertoire within the art world of pre?modern Osaka painting.” However, it should be noted that while research on “Ukiyoe” woodblock picture books by Ukiyoe painters residing in Edo is popular, the same cannot be said about woodblock picture books and its artists of Kyoto and Osaka, particularly during the latter Edo Period. This paper shall examine the Osaka artist Tokei Niwa, more commonly known as Kihiei Daikokuya (1760?1822). Niwa is recognized as a Kamigata (Kyoto and Osaka) genre painter who completed illustrative works in such books as the “Meisho Zukai” (Guidebook of Sights) and “Kyoka” , books of comical Tanka or 31 syllable Japanese poems ( “Nihon Kotenbunngaku Daijiten”(“Dictionary of Japanese Classical Literature”) Iwanami Shoten 1974, and “Kinsei Osaka Gadan” (“Art World of Osaka Painting In the Pre Modern Edo Period”) among other references). However it is interesting to note that as far as original paintings of the artist, only the following three works have been introduced: ㆍ”Shikan Hyakugizu” (Comic portrait of the Kabuki actor Shikan Nakamura) (an illustration included in “Shikan Shosanjyo”(“The Book of Writings and Drawings by Fans of Shikan Nakamura”), as part of the artist’s private collection) ㆍ“Drawing of Shellfish Gathering At Sumiyoshi Beach”, a collaborative drawing of a silk book in color by three artists (Tokei, Gyotoku, Kangyoku) as part of the collection of the Osaka Museum of History. ㆍ“Writings of Shokusanjin Ota”, “Drawing by Tokei”, “Drawing of the Besshi Copper Mine” This paper is based on research conducted at Tokei Niwa’s family temple, “Entsuji Temple”. It shall include biographical research based on the artist’s family register of deaths. The paper will also introduce and consider settings for the completion of “Portrait of Kogaku?taishi; Patriach of Honen Buddhism” (unofficial title given to a colored silk hanging scroll) and “Drawings of Landscapes” (unofficial title given to a work using Indian ink over 4 frames of fusuma, a traditional Japanese paper sliding door), two artistic works which have been handed down from generation to generation at Entsuji Temple but never introduced elsewhere. This paper, by observing painters from the Kyoto and Osaka area through the artist, Tokei Niwa, as an example, will examine an aspect of the art world of pre?modern Osaka painting.

포메라니안의 성장호르몬 반응성탈모증에 대한 사람성장호르몬 및 mitotane(op'-DDD, Lysodren)에 의한 치료증례

양측성(兩側性), 대측성탈모(對側性脫毛)와 색소과잉(色素過剩)을 나타낸 2두의 거세(去勢)한 수컷의 포메라니안이 내원하였다. ACTH부하시험(負荷試驗), 저용량(低用量) Dexamethasone억제시험 및 성장호르몬(GH) 응답성시험(Xylazine자극시험)에 의하여 GH반응성탈모증(反應性脫毛症)으로 진단하고 사람GH제제(製劑) 0.1 IU/㎏를 1주일간에 2회씩 근육 내에 투여하고 6주일 동안 치료를 하였다. 증례 1은 치유되었으나 1년 후에 재발하였고, 증례 2는 반응성이 미약하였기 때문에, 이 두 증례에 대하여 mitotane(op'-DDD, Lysodren)를 투여 하였던 바, 증례 1은 치유되고 증례 2에서는 피모(被毛)의 개선이 인정되었다. 포메라니안 종은 유전적으로 부신(副賢)에 있어서의 특정의 수산화효소가 결여(缺如)되어 있다는 것이 밝혀져 잠재적(潛在的)으로 고(高)프로게스테론, 고(高)안드로겐 증을 가지고 있다는 것이 보고 되어있다. 따라서 포메라니안 종에서는 고(高)코르티솔혈증을 나타내지 않고 부신피질의 과형성(過形成)을 일으키고 있는 것으로 생각된다. 부신피질을 선택적으로 파괴하는 작용을 가지는 Mitotane이 GH반응성탈모증에 유효하였기에 본 질환과 부신이 더욱 강하게 연관지어졌다. Two castrated male Pomeranians, having bilateral, symmetrical alopecia and hyperpigmentation, were diagnosed as growth hormone (GH) responsive dermatopathy by ACTH stimulation test, low dose dexamethasone suppression test and GH reactive test (xylazine response test). They were teated twice a week for six weeks by injecting 0.1 IU/㎏ of GH preparation into the muscle. Case 1 dog showed a significant recovery, but relapse occured after one year. Case 2 dog showed a low reactivity to it. Therefore both of them were treated with mitotane (op'-DDD, Lysodren®). Case 1 dog recovered and case 2 dog improved in coat. It is reported that Pomeranians hereditatily lacks in a specific hydroxylase activity and have potential hyperpogesteronemia and hyper-androgenemia. It is suggested that Pomeranians overproduce the adrenal cortex without showing hypercortisonemia. This result, that mitotane, as a seletive disintegrator of adrenal cortex, is efficacious against GH responsive dermatosis and give another support to the view that the disease is related with the function of adrenal cortex.

In Japan, the house renovations are mainly intended for elderly people. On the other hand, the house renovations for the children with physically handicapped are few. Parents are used to carry their child in their arms in baby period, and not using any assistive devices even after the child has grown up. As the result, some mothers get to have lumbago. In this report, the authors researched on movement of parents when they give a bath to their child. Taking the case of family who moved from rented accommodation to newly-built detached house, the authors examined the difference of the movements of and studied the influence on the change of environments in the way of bathing aids for child.

Relationships between Mass and Porosity of Rough Rice Piled in a Combine Grain Tank

Percentage of ripened grains (PRG) is an important indicator to evaluate soil and crop management in rice production and is used to estimate weight of ripened brown rice by which economic returns are determined in Japan. This study focused on estimating PRG using bulk density of rough rice piled in the grain tank of a combine harvester. Our former study has showed that linear relationships between bulk density and particle density (an indicator of PRG) of rough rice piled in a vertical cylinder were dependent on the filling conditions of the rough rice. This finding required to clarify the filling conditions of the rough rice piled in a grain tank to estimate PRG using bulk density. Porosity is an indicator to evaluate the filling conditions. Thus, the objective of this study was to clarify factors affecting the porosity of rough rice piled in a grain tank. Relationships between mass and porosity of rough rice piled in a grain tank was measured through the field tests and the indoor experiments using a 6-row and a 4-row head feeding combine harvester, respectively. In addition, relationships between pressure at the bottom part in the grain tanks and porosity were compared between the field tests and the indoor experiments. The determination coefficients (R²) of regression lines between mass and porosity were high: 0.96 in the field tests and 0.88 in the indoor experiments. These relationships showed that mass is a major factor affecting porosity of rough rice piled in a grain tank. For the relationships between pressure at the bottom part of a grain tank and porosity, the field tests (moisture content: 23-29 %) showed 6 % larger porosity at around 2.5 kPa of pressure than the indoor experiments (moisture content: 15 %). Lowered fluidity of rough rice at higher moisture content is a possible cause of this larger porosity in the field tests. In addition, the magnitude of the slope of the regression line for relationships between the pressure and porosity was higher in the field tests (2.74) than in the indoor experiments (0.83). This result suggested that shaking of the combine during harvest, which involved only in the field tests, affected the porosity.

In this study, we summarize parents" views on bathing care for children with disabilities by investigating into the use of hoist system for bathing. As a result, many parents answered that they need to use the hoist system after their children has grown up to 30kg. But there is very little installation of the hoist system.Only ten percent of the parents have experienced the hoist system, and others tend to be under impression that the hoist system is not so useful. And it turned out that parents consider the priority of the hoist system as following. 1. Safety care, 2.Simple operation, 3.lnstalling in small space, 4. Easy cleaning and maintenance, 5.Quick care, 6.Cheap price.

Tetraspanin CD9 modulates ADAM17-mediated shedding of LR11 in leukocytes

LR11, also known as SorLA or SORL1, is a type-I membrane protein from which a large extracellular part, soluble LR11 (sLR11), is released by proteolytic shedding on cleavage with a disintegrin and metalloproteinase 17 (ADAM17). A shedding mechanism is presumed to have a key role in the functions of LR11, but the evidence for this has not yet been demonstrated. Tetraspanin CD9 has been recently shown to regulate the ADAM17-mediated shedding of tumor necrosis factor-a and intercellular adhesion molecule-1 on the cell surface. Here, we investigated the role of CD9 on the shedding of LR11 in leukocytes. LR11 was not expressed in THP-1 monocytes, but it was expressed and released in phorbol 12-myristate13-acetate (PMA)-induced THP-1 macrophages (PMA/THP-1). Confocal microscopy showed colocalization of LR11 and CD9 proteins on the cell surface of PMA/THP-1. Ectopic neo-expression of CD9 in CCRF-SB cells, which are LR11-positive and CD9-negative, reduced the amount of sLR11 released from the cells. In contrast, incubation of LR11-transfected THP-1 cells with neutralizing anti-CD9 monoclonal antibodies increased the amount of sLR11 released from the cells. Likewise, the PMA-stimulated release of sLR11 increased in THP-1 cells transfected with CD9-targeted shRNAs, which was negated by treatment with the metalloproteinase inhibitor GM6001. These results suggest that the tetraspanin CD9 modulates the ADAM17-mediated shedding of LR11 in various leukemia cell lines and that the association between LR11 and CD9 on the cell surface has an important role in the ADAM17-mediated shedding mechanism.
