Fifty-two cases of patent ductus arteriosus were operated on, consisting of 32 females and 20 males. The youngest was 10 month old girl and the oldest 38 years old woman. Severe pulmonary hypertension of 110mmHg was found in two cases, both of which succumbed, one during surgery due to cardiac arrest and the other died one week after operation. In the later case severe tracho-bronchial tree obstruction was found by autopsy. One and a half years old girl expired 3 days after operation. By autopsy bronchopneumonia was found. A fourteen years old girl died of bacterial endocarditis one month after discharge from the hospital. Two cases associated with pulmonary hypertension and an adult were operated on under general hypothermia. All the survival cases showed satisfactory results.

지리적 위치에 따라 소아들에 있어서 혈중 연농도에 차이가 있는지의 여부와 소아들의 혈중 연농도의 참고치 계산을 위한 기초자료를 얻기 위하여 6-8세의 도심지역 거주 소아 102명과 교외지역 거주 86명, 총 188명을 대상으로 조사하여 다음과 같은 결과를 얻었다. 1. 전체 소아들의 평균혈중 연농도는 산술평균이 7.24, 기하평균이 6.92 ㎍/100㎖이었으며 남자가 여자보다 통계적으로 유의하게 더 높았다(p<0.05). 2. 도심지역과 교외지역 거주 소아들의 혈중 연농도는 도심지역거주 소아가 남, 녀 모두에서 교외지역 거주 소아보다 통계적으로 유의하게 더 높았다(p<0.05). 3. 혈중 연농도에 따른 분포에서는 <5 ㎍/100㎖군에 조사대상자 188명의 17.02%가 분포되었고 도심지역(5.88%)보다 교외지역(30.23%)에서 더 많은 분포를 보였으며, 10 ㎍/100㎖이상 군에는 전체 소아의 12.23%가 분포하고 있었으며, 도심지역(20.59%)이 교외지역(2.33%)보다 더 많이 분포하고 있었다. 이상의 결과에서 볼 때 도심지역 거주 소아들에 대한 연폭로의 관리대책이 시급히 마련되어야 할 것으로 판단된다. The authors conducted this study to evaluate some differences in blood lead levels between inner-city and suburban children and obtain the basic data of the reference value of the blood lead concentrations in children. The subjects were composed of 102 children residing in inner-city and 86 children in suburban. Their age range were 6 to 8 years old and the obtained results were as follows; 1. The arithmetic means of the blood lead level in male and female, male, and female children were 7.24, 7.40, 7.08 ㎍/100㎖, and geometric means were 6.92, 7.08, 6.76㎍/100㎖, respectively. 2. The children residing in inner-city had the higher blood lead levels both male and female than suburban children with statistical significance(p<0.05) 3. Seventeen percent of the total subjects had lead concentrations < 5 ㎍/100㎖, and 5.88% of inner-city children and 30.23% of suburban children had this lead values. But in ≥10㎍/100㎖ group, the inner-city children(20.39%) were more distributed than suburban children(2.33%), and 12.33% of total subjects had this lead values.
Ti_(0.1)W_(0.9) 위에 증착된 SiO₂박막의 후속 열처리에 의한 전기적 절연 특성조사

The electrical insulating characteristics of Ti_(0.1)W_(0.9)/SiO_(2)/Al multi-layer depending on post-anneal process were investigated. Through the analysis of measured results, it was revealed that breakdown and leakage characteristics of devices were depended on temperature of post-anneal process and time of that, respectively. As the temperature of post-anneal process was increasing, the breakdown voltage of device was decreased. But the insulating characteristic of SiO_(2) film was destroyed above 500℃ anneal process. The leakage characteristic of device was improved after lhr. of post-anneal time. Such electrical characteristics were caused by change of interface state between Ti_(0.1)W_(0.9) film and SiO_(2) film during post-anneal process.

Objective: To make sure the feasibility with $^{18F}FDG$ PET/CT to guided dynamic intensity-modulated radiation therapy (IMRT) for nasopharyngeal carcinoma patients, by dosimetric verification before treatment. Methods: Chose 11 patients in III~IVA nasopharyngeal carcinoma treated with functional image-guided IMRT and absolute and relative dosimetric verification by Varian 23EX LA, ionization chamber, 2DICA of I'mRT Matrixx and IBA detachable phantom. Drawing outline and making treatment plan were by different imaging techniques (CT and $^{18F}FDG$ PET/CT). The dose distributions of the various regional were realized by SMART. Results: The absolute mean errors of interest area were $2.39%{\pm}0.66$ using 0.6cc ice chamber. Results using DTA method, the average relative dose measurements within our protocol (3%, 3 mm) were 87.64% at 300 MU/min in all filed. Conclusions: Dosimetric verification before IMRT is obligatory and necessary. Ionization chamber and 2DICA of I'mRT Matrixx was the effective dosimetric verification tool for primary focal hyper metabolism in functional image-guided dynamic IMRT for nasopharyngeal carcinoma. Our preliminary evidence indicates that functional image-guided dynamic IMRT is feasible.

We report the one step facile synthesis of graphene nanoribbons (GNRs) by unzipping carbonnanotubes (CNTs) from glucose (C 6 H 12 O 6 ) precursor, using a simple chemical vapor depositionmethod. Some nanotubes are partially cut resulting in a GNR – CNT hybrid whereas others arefully cut to form GNRs. The average length of GNRs achieved by this method is typically in therange of 1 – 10 ? m. The formation of GNRs is ascribed to the in situ oxygen-driven unzipping ofCNTs. The process is free from aggressive oxidants and utilizes the in situ unzipping. Thismethod o®ers an alternative approach for making GNRs, compared to previously used techniquesto synthesize GNRs.

<P><B>Abstract</B></P> <P>Over the decades, researchers have made great efforts to turn the world into a cleaner place through efficient recycling of industrial waste and developing of green energy. Here we demonstrate a prototype heterostructure photoelectrochemical (PEC) cell fabricated using recycled industrial waste. ZnFe<SUB>2</SUB>O<SUB>4</SUB> (ZFO) nanorod (NR) clusters were synthesized on the BiVO<SUB>4</SUB>@ZnO hetero-nanostructures using recycled rare earth oxide (REO) slags as Fe source. The NR-based PEC cell exhibited a significantly enhanced photon to hydrogen conversion efficiency over the entire UV and visible spectrum. Further study demonstrates that the photo-carrier separation and migration processes can be facilitated by the cascade band alignment of the heterostructure and the clustered nanostructure network. In addition, the life-time of the photo-carriers can be enhanced by the REO passivation layer, leading to a further increased PEC performance. Matrine, a main active component extracted from dry roots of Sophora flavecens, has been reported to exert antitumor effects on A549 human non-small lung cancer cells, but its mechanisms of action remain unclear. To determine effects of matrine on proliferation of A549 cells and assess possible mechanisms, MTT assays were employed to detect cytotoxicity, along with o flow cytometric analysis of DNA content of nuclei of cells following staining with propidium iodide to analyze cell cycle distribution. Western blotting was performed to determined expression levels of Bax, Bcl-2, VEGF and HDAC1, while a microarray was used to assessed changes of miRNA profiles. In the MTT assay, matrine suppressed growth of human lung cancer cell A549 in a dose- and timedependent manner at doses of 0.25-2.5 mg/ml for 24h, 48h or 72h. Matrine induced cell cycle arrest in G0/G1 phase and decreased the G2/M phase, while down-regulating the expression of Bcl2 protein, leading to a reduction in the Bcl-2/Bax ratio. In addition, matrine down regulated the expression level of VEGF and HDAC1 of A549 cells. Microarray analysis demonstrated that matrine altered the expression level of miRNAs compared with untreated control A549 cells. In conclusion, matrine could inhibit proliferation of A549 cells, providing useful information for understanding anticancer mechanisms.

Infectious mononucleosis caused by primary Epstein-Barr virus infection is self-limited illness that is clinically characterized by fever, pharyngitis, and lymphadenopathy. Neurologic complications such as meningoencephalitis and Guillain. Barre syndrome can occur in 1 to 5% of patients with Infectious mononucleosis. Recently, we experienced mild form of Guillainfi Barre syndrome in a 25-year-old of patient who was diagnosed with infectious mononucleosis. Although both peripheral motor and sensory nerves were affected, the patient was fully recovered without assisted ventilation and paralysis of extremities. This case suggests that possibility of Guillain.Barre syndrome should be considered in patients with Infectious mononucleosis who present with minor neurological manifestations.
Delay-dependent Stabilization for Systems with Multiple Unknown Time-varying Delays

This paper deals with the delay-dependent and rate-independent stabilization of systems with multiple unknown time-varying delays and time-varying structured uncertainties. All the linear matrix inequalities based conditions are derived by employing free-weighting matrices to express the relationships between the terms in the Leibniz-Newton formula. The criteria do not require any tuning parameters. Numerical examples demonstrate the validity of the method.
