      • Resonant Suppression of Flexible System Using Band-stop Filter

        PeiJun Wu,ShaoKang Ma,Qiao Chen,Geng Yang,XuChun Li 전력전자학회 2015 ICPE(ISPE)논문집 Vol.2015 No.6

A method is proposed for the resonant suppression of a flexible system based on vibration signal feedback. In addition to a torque, speed and position feedback control structure, this method filters some specific vibration frequencies of the output and then feedback them to the input of the system. Thus it is featured by a concise control structure and simple parameter design procedures. The paper firstly cites a three-mass system as an instance, in which the transfer function and the procedures of controller design are explained and the essential of resonant suppression is presented. Then we extend the controller design to a general flexible system which can be modelled as a more-masses system even with unequal qualities/inertias. Finally, a load force compensator is added to mitigate the disturbance caused by a load force. Simulation results show the validation of the method.

      • SOCIAL MEDIA AND LUXURY PRODUCT PURCHASE: DEVELOPING AN EFFECTIVE STRATEGY TO REDUCE THE CONSUMPTION OF IVORY PRODUCTS IN CHINA

Ge Xiao,Shaokang Wang 글로벌지식마케팅경영학회 2018 Global Marketing Conference Vol.2018 No.07

China, with its rapid growing wealthy consumers, is increasingly becoming a major market for luxury brands and products. It is believed that the growing consumption of wildlife products in China is one of the key factors in the acceleration of global extinction of endangered species. It is certainly not an easy task to reveal consumers’ true motivations behind their purchase, but is even tougher to change their behavior. In the field of wildlife conservation, despite many efforts so far have been made to de-market the consumption, the results are not encouraging. This study is designed to fill the research gap by treating ivory purchase as a type of luxury product purchase in China. Through studying the behavior and its underlying values and motivations, this research is aimed to identify effective communication strategies to curve the ivory consumption in China. Pretest among small groups was first conducted for the purpose of scale validity evaluation. A random stratified sample was obtained from an online panel in China in January 2018. Total 600 usable samples were obtained. The data analysis showed a strong and positive relationship between power distance and materialism; power distance and negative attitude toward social media. Materialism/collectivism is found a strong predicator of positive attitude toward social media and social media usage. While ivory likely buyers associate uncertainty avoidance with materialism and positive attitude toward social network, ivory purchase rejecters demonstrate a positive relationship between long term orientation and materialism; long term orientation and positive attitude toward social media. Based on the strong relationships between materialism and social media usage we found form this study, it is recommended to design a social media campaign to dissociate ivory products from social status; and to associate social status with healthier, greener alternatives (e.g., Tesla car). Advocating desired behavior (e.g., charitable works to save elephants in Africa) in social media and de-advocating the undesired behaviors by celebrities on TV (e.g., ‘No Trading - No Killing’ campaign by YaoMing) is likely to work for likely ivory buyers.

      • MARKET EXPANSION IN CHINA: UNDERSTANDING THE INFLUENCE OF CULTURAL DIMENSIONS AND INDIVIDUAL CHARACTERISTICS IN SOCIAL MEDIA USAGE IN CHINA

        Ge Xiao,HyeRyeon Lee,Shaokang Wang 글로벌지식마케팅경영학회 2018 Global Marketing Conference Vol.2018 No.07

China is the world’s largest social network market in the world. The importance of tapping this massive market with rapid growth rate can’t be overstated. It has been widely acknowledged that culture is a significant variable in consumer attitudes and consumer behavior. Given that culture may influence individual’s interaction and consumption through social media, it is imperative to examine cultures’ influence in social media usage where much of the information is usually user generated. Traditionally, demographics like age, gender, education etc., are also considered as the key socioeconomic factors determining consumers’ media selection and buying decisions. To fill the research gap, this study is designed 1) to investigate the relationship between cultural dimensions and social media usages in China by introducing mediating factors of attitudes toward social media; 2) to investigate the role of individual characteristics (e.g., gender and living location) play on social networks usage in China. Pretest among small groups was first conducted for the purpose of scale validity evaluation. Later, a translation and back-translation method was employed to achieve the translation equivalence. A random stratified sample was obtained from an online panel in China in January 2018. A computer-assisted web interviews was conducted with adults age above 18. Total 600 usable samples were obtained in China in January 2018. The findings of this study evidenced the important role culture plays in defining the social context within which individuals behave. The result showed a strong positive relationship between power distance and negative attitude toward social media. This study also found a negative relationship between masculinity and using social media for direct purchase. The finding supports the fact that social networking, which has a strong focus on relationship building, is a relatively feminine value. Thus, the members of social networking, which espouses feminine values, demonstrate a more social orientation and expectation of shared values. Marketers need to ensure that they make their social media outlets user friendly and their spaces encourage communication and connectedness for their users.

Early CT Findings of Coronavirus Disease 2019 (COVID-19) in Asymptomatic Children: A Single-Center Experience

        Lan Lan,Xu Dan,Xia Chen,Wang Shaokang,Yu Minhua,Xu Haibo 대한영상의학회 2020 Korean Journal of Radiology Vol.21 No.7

Objective: The current study reported a case series to illustrate the early computed tomography (CT) findings of coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19) in pediatric patients. Materials and Methods: All pediatric patients who were diagnosed with COVID-19 and who underwent CT scan in Zhongnan Hospital of Wuhan University from January 20, 2020 to February 28, 2020 were included in the current study. Data on clinical and CT features were collected and analyzed. Results: Four children were included in the current study. All of them were asymptomatic throughout the disease course (ranging from 7 days to 15 days), and none of them showed abnormalities in blood cell counts. Familial cluster was the main transmission pattern. Thin-section CT revealed abnormalities in three patients, and one patient did not present with any abnormal CT findings. Unilateral lung involvement was observed in two patients, and one patient showed bilateral lung involvement. In total, five small lesions were identified, including ground-glass opacity (n = 4) and consolidation (n = 1). All lesions had ill-defined margins with peripheral distribution and predilection of lower lobe. Conclusion: Small patches of ground-glass opacity with subpleural distribution and unilateral lung involvement were common findings on CT scans of pediatric patients in the early stage of the disease.

Effect of Mg12Nd and Mg3Nd On the Corrosion Behavior of Mg‒3 wt%Nd Alloy in Saline Solution

        Kaihua Yuan,Jianfeng Wang,Yufeng Sun,Shijie Zhu,Hairong Liu,Shaokang Guan 대한금속·재료학회 2023 METALS AND MATERIALS International Vol.29 No.5

In this paper, the precipitates of the Mg‒3 wt%Nd alloy in the as-cast state and after heat treatment at 540 ℃ for 12 h wereinvestigated and related to the corrosion behavior in saline solution. For the as-cast specimen, the network and sphericalβ-phases (Mg12Nd) act as the anodes relative to Mg matrix at the initial stage of immersion in saline solution. Withincreasing the immersion time, the intergranular corrosion caused by the preferential dissolution of the reticular β-phaseleads to the detachment of Mg fragments. For the heat-treated specimen, the plate-shaped β1-phases (Mg3Nd) distributedevenly in the grain interior act as the micro-cathodes. The corrosion pits are prone to extend horizontally and connectedeach other, resulting in an uniform corrosion status and a relatively lower corrosion rate. This result is helpful for developingthe biomedical Mg‒Nd base alloys with a good degradation property by adjusting the precipitation of intermetallics.

Improved Mechanical Properties of Friction Stir Welded 1500 MPa Martensitic Steel Joints with Additional Water Cooling

        Shuhao Zhu,Pengcheng Zhu,Binbin Wang,Liang Zhang,Yufeng Sun,Shaokang Guan 대한금속·재료학회 2024 METALS AND MATERIALS International Vol.30 No.1

This study proposes a method to improve the mechanical strength of martensitic welded joints by minimizing the effect ofmartensitic tempering. The high-strength martensitic steel plate exhibiting a tensile strength of 1500 MPa was successfullyjoined in this study utilizing additional water-cooling by friction stir welding (FSW) technique. Concurrently, conventionalair-cooled welded joints were produced utilizing identical welding parameters for comparison. Notwithstanding the macrostructureof both FSW joints was similar, the air-cooled joint contained a larger stir zone (SZ) and wider heat-affectedzone (HAZ). The air-cooled joint SZ exhibited a microstructure featuring coarse martensite, while the water-cooled jointSZ displayed a microstructure consisting of fine martensite. The degree of self-tempering of the martensite in the HAZ wassignificantly reduced, together with fewer and finer carbide particles than in the HAZ of air-cooled joints, by applying watercooling. The tensile test results indicated that the water-cooled FSW joint showed a significant improvement (23.6%) inultimate tensile strength compared to its air-cooled counterparts.
