Time-related Mapping of Quantitative Trait Loci Controlling Dry Matter Accumulation and Partitioning in Rice

        Shao Bo Li,Zhi Hong Zhang,Shao Qing Li,Yang Sheng Li,You Lin Zhu,Ying Guo Zhu 한국유전학회 2008 Genes & Genomics Vol.30 No.4

Grain yield is a result of dry matter accumulation and partitioning in rice (Oryza sativa L.). To characterize the genetic basis of dynamics of traits representing dry matter accumulation and partitioning as well as their relationships with each other, composite interval mapping of quantitative trait loci (QTL) was conducted based on time-related phenotypic data obtained from a population of 258 recombinant inbred lines (F12), which was derived from a cross between Lemont (japonica var.) and Teqing (indica var.). A total of twenty-three QTL were identified for leaf weight, stem weight and panicle weight at four measuring stages after heading. However, these three dynamic traits were observed to be controlled by different QTL (genes) at different growth stages. An extreme example was that at least three types of QTL (genes) might be involved in the development of panicle weight. Growth duration, which is closely related to dry matter accumulation and partitioning, was also identified to be significantly affected by four QTL. The close correlations among the studied four traits were explained to some extent by six co-located QTL. Nevertheless, it would be of great importance to distinguish the pleiotropic or linked effects of the co-located QTL. In addition, the chromosome regions or QTL identified in this study were compared with those previously reported for the same or related traits with the same RIL population.

Empirical Study of Dynamic Chinese Corporate Governance Based on Chinese-listed Firms with A Panel VAR Approach

Lin Shao,Li Zhang,Xiaohong Yu 한국유통과학회 2017 The Journal of Industrial Distribution & Business( Vol.8 No.1

Purpose – In this article, a dynamic model like a VAR is an appropriate choice for estimating the possible interrelationship between ownership structure and firm performance as a dynamic process. Research design, data, and methodology – Data of this work are collected from Chinese stock exchange including 350 Chinese-listed firms during the period of 1999-2012. We hypothesize that this interrelationship dynamically exists between ownership structure and firm performance. To examine the correlation, a panel Vector Auto-regression (PVAR) approach generated by GMM method is utilized to test the possible dynamic relation embedded in corporate governance. Another two dynamic analysis solutions such as orthogonalized impulse-response function and variance decomposition are also used simultaneously. Results – Findings of this study indicate the evidence that dynamically endogenous relationship exists between ownership structure and firm performance. Further, there is a dynamical correlation between investment and performance. Impulse response and variance decomposition illustrate that impact of a shock to variables themselves is the main source for their variability. Conclusions – The conclusion in this study is that there is a bidirectional and inter-temporal effect between proportion of ownership and corporate performance for a long run in accordance with impulse response function. Overall, our results suggest that corporate governance in China is more market oriented.

The morphology and structure of the fabricated nanomaterials were characterized by X-ray diffraction, scanning electron microscopy, and transmission electron microscopy. The sensing properties of different ZnO nanostructures toward volatile organic compounds gases at sub-ppm levels were investigated. The differences in the sensing responses of various nanostructures were compared, and reasonable mechanisms are proposed here.</P>

      • Empirical Study of the Dynamic Corporate Governance : New Evidence from Chinese Listed SME

Lin Shao,Xiaohong Yu 한국유통과학회 2015 한국유통과학회 학술대회 논문집 Vol.2015 No.-

This study explores the possible dynamic relationship between ownership and performance in a panel of 4900 Chinese listed SME over a period from 1999 to 2012. We address this issue by means of a dynamic panel model with a method of moments (GMM) through dynamic simultaneous equations to alleviate the potential endogenous problem: unobserved heterogeneity, simultaneity and dynamic endogeneity. Under the framework of dynamic endogeneity, firm performance has significantly positive influence on ownership, but not vice versa. Ownership and performance can be explained by their owned lagged value respectively. Moreover, Inter temporal endogeneity exist between ownership, investment and performance by applying system dynamic equations, which implies that the relationship among them is dynamic by nature. This study also contributes to a better understanding of dynamic corporate governance by providing further empirical evidence from the largest market in the Asian region.

Effect of line and floor type on growth performance and feather characterization during the growth period of White Roman geese

        Lin Min Jung,Chang Shen Chang,Chen Tzu Jou,Lin Wei Chih,Peng Shao Yu,Lee Tzu Tai 아세아·태평양축산학회 2020 Animal Bioscience Vol.33 No.9

Objective: The purpose of this study was to investigate whether goose growth and feather characteristics are influenced by their line and feeding surroundings, inclusive of floor materials and types, since there are no reports regarding these factors. Methods: The 240 White Roman geese which were hatched and sex identified came from 3 commercial goose farms. They were randomly distributed to 24 pens depending on a completely random design. The study continued for 13 weeks and included 3 lines of commercial geese and 2 floor types (cement strip floor [CSF] or cement floor [CF]). Results: The day one gosling weight from A farm was lower than other two farms (96 g vs 107 and 115 g; p<0.001). Afterwards, the body weight, back length, keel length, chest girth and main wing feather length among 3 farms showed no significance difference prior to 12 weeks. The CF group showed heavier body weight, shorter back length, longer keel length, shorter chest girth and shorter main wing feather length than the CSF group prior to 12 weeks. The down weight in the CF was heavier than the CSF group (57.1 g vs 41.8 g; p<0.01) prior to 13 weeks. Conclusion: The body weight showed the positive relations for dry feather weight (r = 0.59), down weight (r = 0.69), percent of the down weight of live body weight prior to 13 weeks (r = 0.61).

Selective Growth of ZnO Nanorods and Its Gas Sensor Application

        Shao-Lin Zhang,Jeong-Ok Lim,Jeung-Soo Huh,Wooyoung Lee IEEE 2012 IEEE Sensors Journal Vol.12 No.11

<P>The facile sonochemical method has been used to selectively grow a ZnO nanorods sensing layer directly on an alumina substrate. The growth region of the ZnO nanorods array is precisely controlled by a pre-coated Pt/Zn seed layer on alumina substrate. No growth of ZnO nanostructure is found on the substrate without seed layer. The grown ZnO nanorods are well aligned and densely packed, with wurtzite crystal structure and flat hexagonal tip. The sensing properties of the obtained ZnO nanorods sensing layer to three kinds of toxic gases ( NH3, CO, and CH4) have been investigated. The sensing observation revealed that the selectively grown ZnO nanorods demonstrated good response, repeatability, and excellent linearity toward toxic gases. This result indicates that selective growth of ZnO nanorods directly on sensor substrate is an accessible and advantageous method for sensor fabrication.</P>

Rapid and Efficient Detection of 16SrI Group Areca Palm Yellow Leaf Phytoplasma in China by Loop-Mediated Isothermal Amplification

        Shao-shuai Yu,Hai-yan Che,Sheng-jie Wang,Cai-li Lin,Ming-xing Lin,Wei-wei Song,Qing-hua Tang,Wei Yan,Wei-quan Qin 한국식물병리학회 2020 Plant Pathology Journal Vol.36 No.5

Areca palm yellow leaf (AYL) disease caused by the 16SrI group phytoplasma is a serious threat to the development of the Areca palm industry in China. The 16S rRNA gene sequence was utilized to establish a rapid and efficient detection system efficient for the 16SrI-B subgroup AYL phytoplasma in China by loopmediated isothermal amplification (LAMP). The results showed that two sets of LAMP detection primers, 16SrDNA-2 and 16SrDNA-3, were efficient for 16SrIB subgroup AYL phytoplasma in China, with positive results appearing under reaction conditions of 64oC for 40 min. The lowest detection limit for the two LAMP detection assays was the same at 200 ag/μl, namely approximately 53 copies/μl of the target fragments. Phytoplasma was detected in all AYL disease samples from Baoting, Tunchang, and Wanning counties in Hainan province using the two sets of LAMP primers 16SrDNA-2 and 16SrDNA-3, whereas no phytoplasma was detected in the negative control. The LAMP method established in this study with comparatively high sensitivity and stability, provides reliable results that could be visually detected, making it suitable for application and research in rapid diagnosis of AYL disease, detection of seedlings with the pathogen and breeding of diseaseresistant Areca palm varieties.

      • Empirical Study of Dynamic Corporate Governance Based on Chinese-listed SMEs with a PVAR Approach

Lin Shao,Li Zhang,Xiao hong Yu 한국유통과학회 2016 KODISA ICBE (International Conference on Business Vol.2016 No.-

This study offers new insights into the dynamic relationship between ownership structure and firm performance in the case of Chinese Stock Exchange in the period of 1999 to 2012 using a panel Vector Auto-regression (PVAR). The panel VAR approach allows to addresses the endogenous problem by allowing the endogenous interaction between the variables in the system. Our result provides the evidence that dynamically inter-temporal relationship exists between ownership and performance for a long run. Impulse response and variance decomposition illustrate that impact of a shock to variables themselves is the main source for their variability.
