        A 7-month old, castrated male Shih-tzu dog was referred to the Veterinary Medical Teaching Hospital of Chungnam National University with history of depression, dyspnea, mild scale, tachypnea, exercise intolerance and severe leanness. On physical examination, cardiac arrhythmias was heard and heart worm ELISA test was positive. Microfilaria was found on the direct blood smear. Survey radiographs showed loss of diaphragmatic line and cardiac silhouette, displacement of lung fields and presence of gas filled intestines in the thoracic cavity. Rib fracture and pelvic fracture with callus formation were found incidentally. On the basis of physical examination and radiographic findings, it was diagnosed as traumatic diaphragmatic hernia and heart worm disease. Herniorrhaphy was performed. Postoperatively, it was treated for heart worm disease and scale. There is no evidence of recurrence of diaphragmatic hernia and heart worm disease over 1 year.

      • 林産油脂樹種의 利用에 관한 硏究(Ⅳ) : 쉬나무 種實의 成分分析 Analysis of Component in Evodia daniellii Hemsley Seed

        林産油脂의 資源活用을 위한 쉬나무 種實에 대한 脂肪酸 分析結果를 要約하면 다음과 같다. 쉬나무 種實의 化學的 組成은 組蛋白質 함량이 16.20%, 組脂肪이 52.45% 炭水化物이 18.70%, 分이 1.56%이였으며 物理-化學的 組成에서는 比重이 0.916, 屈折率이 1.4722, 酸價가 16.63, 비누化價가 191,11, 요오드價가 134.60, 過酸化物價가 15.30으로 나타났다. 總脂肪酸 組成에서 linolenic acid, linoleic acid와 oleic acid가 대부분을 차지했다. 그리고 總脂質중에서는 中性脂質이 95.1%로 가장 많이 나타났으며 脂質의 構成을 보면 中性, 糖脂質에서는 linolenic acid, linoleic acid 대체로 높은 含量을 보인 반면 燐脂質에서는 palmitic acid가 가장 높게 나타났다. We investigated the composition of chemical components of Evodia daniellii Hemsley seed. The chemical compositions of Evodia daniellii Hemsley seed consisted of 4.83% of moisture, 16.20% of crude protein, 52.45% of crude fat. 18.70% of carbohydrate and 1.56% of ash. The physico-chemical characteristics of the seed oil were determined as follows : specific gravity, refractive index, acid value, saponification value, iodine value and peroxide value were 0.916, 1.4722, 16.63, 191.11, 134.6 and 15.30, respectively. The lipids in the crude oil were almost composed of neutral lipids. The seed contained 6 different kinds of fatty acids which were linoletic acid, linolenic acid, oleic acid, lauric acid, palmitic acid and palmitolic acid. The content of linoleic acid in total lipid, neutral lipid and glyco lipid is the highest than that of other lipid. On the other hand. The content of palmitic acid in phospho lipid is the highest than that of other lipid.

      • 느타리버섯의 갈반병 원인균에 대한 길항세균 선발에 관한 연구

        갈반병이 이병된 느타리 버섯과 버섯 재배장 주변 토양으로부터 채집한 균주로부터 갈반병 원인 균주 4개와 갈반병 길항 균주 3개를 선발 하였다. 선발된 균주를 API 20E kit에 의해 동정한 결과 갈반병 원인 균주 P-24, P-28은 P. putida로 P-27, P-33은 lane 1: PCR marker lane 2: P.fluorescens P. tolaasii로 동정 되었으며, 길항 균주중 A-11, A-20은 P. fluorescence로 A-29는 Pseudomonas sp.로 동정 되었으나, RAPD PCR 방법에 의한 유전적 유사성은 모든 균주가 다른 양상을 보였다(Fig. 5). 이는 생화학적 방법에 의한 Pseudomonas 계통의 균주 동정의 기술이 확립되지 않은 점도 있으며, 유전적 유사성은 달라도 같은 속의 균주가 많은 것으로 사료 된다. 길항성은 갈반병 원인 균주 대 길항 균주가 1:1의 농도로 길항성이 양호하여 Nair등(1972)의 보고 보다 우수한 길항성을 보였다. Screening experiments were carried out in order to select bacteria causing brown blotch disease on the mushroom. especially, Pleurotus ostreatus. Four brown blotch disease causing bacteria were isolated from the Pleurotus ostreatus and the soil around mushroom farm. Three other strains, A-11, A-20, A-29 showing antagonism against four brown blotch causing bacteria through pitting test and cross checking and found to be identified as Pseudomonas fluorescence for A-11 and A-20, and Pseudomonas sp. for A-29, respectively. Colony morphology test also showed that A-11 and A-29 were appeared as transparent gel with green color and A-20 colony showed opaque gel with light green color.

      • 광선각화증, 각화극세포종과 Bowen's병에서 p53과 p21의 표출 양상

        Background The function of the p53 protein was known to regulate cell proliferation by inhibiting cells entering Sphase. So DNA damaged cell proliferation was inhibited by apoptosis. P21 is a cyclin dependent kinase inhibitor induced by wild type p53, not mutant p53. Thus p21 is thought go mediate the signal of p53 induced by DNA damaged agents to arrest the cell cycle in G1 phase. p53 and p21 were expressed in many malignant tumors, and its role in oncogenesis, tumor progression and prognosis were important. The authors analyzed immunohistochemical expression of mutant p53 and p21 protein in some skin tumors. Method Thirteen cases of actinic keratosis, 7 cases of keratoacanthoma and 8 cases of Bowen's disease were immunohistochemically stained with p53 and p21 monoclonal antibodies. Results; 1. In cases of positive p53 protein and negative p21 protein, the expressed p53 protein was suggested as mutant form. 2. Positive expression of p53 protein and p21 protein in prickle cell layer of actinic keratosis and Bowen's disease was suggesded that the composing cells of prickle cell layer were transformed into the proliferated cell. The p21 protein expression was suggested to be induced by the p53 independent pathway. 3. Negative expression of p53 protein and p21 protein in prickle cell layer of keratoacanthoma was suggested that the composing cells of prickle cell layer were completely mature cells, so the keratoacanthoma had good prognosis.

      • 자발성 뇌교출혈 환자의 예후에 관한 임상 분석

        Patients with spontaneous pontine hemorrhage very often develop setvere disturbances of consciousness,pupilary abnormalities, respiratory and motor. They have high mortality rate. Therefore, I analyzed the correlation between the Glasgow outcome scale(GOS)and clincial manifestations or computed tomographic(CT)findings in 48 patients with spontaneous pontine hemorrhage to clarify factors predicting the prognosis. I examined 48 Patients with spontaneous pontine hemorrhage; 33 males and 15 females, age 54.6±8.99(mean±S.D.;range 39 to 68)brought to our hospital between January 1995 and December 1999, retrospectively. Correlations between the clinical manifestations, CT findings and the GOS was assessed with multivariate regression analysis. The results were as follow: 1) Patients with the pontine hemorrhage were of 8.8% in those with intracerebral hemorrhage. The ratio of male and female was 33 to 15. The incidence of age is eqial to 40,50 and 60. Total mortality was 41.6%. 2) The poor prognostic factor were that; Glasgow coma scale(GCS)3∼8, irregular respiration. pupilary abnormality, quadriplegia, Brain CT typeⅠ(massive), hydrocephalus, extrapontine extension, Intraventricular hemorrhage(IVH). These clinical analysis should be useful in determining the level of care and future resuscitative efforts.

        The second generation DS alloy CM186LC has comparable creep-rupture life to first generation single crystal alloys CMSX-2 and CMSX-3 in the as-cast and double aged condition. In the assembly of nozzle guide vanes, Ds components are joined into pairs by brazing. In order to study mechanical behavior of the material at the same condition as production, DS bars were subjected to brazing simulated treatments. Compared with standard treatment a small drop in creep-rupture life was observed but the degree of fall in life was not serious. Creep cracks initiated at the transverse components of the grain boundaries, which were normal to the applied stress direction. Every crack was associated with the v-v' eutectic phase at grain boundaries v-v' eutectic was not only located at grain boundaries but also in the interdendritic regions. It also acted as crack initiation site during creep. Low cycle fatigue tests were conducted under fully reversed trapezoidal strain wave at a frequency of 0.25Hz. The depth of the LCF cracks at the surface was comparable to that of the secondary dendrite arms from the surf-ace of the specimen. Cracks initiated at all of the interdendritic regions exposed at the surface, especially at the v-v' eutectic phase. LCF crack initiation and propagation are therefore proposed to be microstructally dependent.

        To investigate the antimicrobial effects of essential oil in the leaves of Chamaecyparis obtusa extractives by paper disc method, the extractives were fractionated into four portions. In antimicrobial test, essential oil in the leaves of Chamaecyparis obtusa was found to have strong inhibitory effects against the growth of Bacillus subtilis and Staphylococcus aureus. A part of analyzed inhibition components of essential oil in the leaves of Chamaecyparis obtusa from GC-MS was supposed to be α,β-pinene, α-terpinolene, camphor, β-myrcene, 1-α-terpinolene, 4-thujen-2-α-yl, limonene, Cardinene.

      • 사하구 대기오염물질 배출원 자료체계 구축에 관한 연구

        The air quality has been deteriorated dux to the rapid industrialization and the increase of traffic volume. Especially, the concentrations of air pollutants of Saha-Gu including Shinp'yong-Jangrim industrial complex showed severe air pollution level compared to other districts in Pusan. To establish proper and comprehensive cnntrol strategies for the reduction of air pollutant levels, the information on the emission quantities of air pollutants are necessarily needed. Although there are a few data on the emissions of air pollutants of various sourxes, the data have not been used enough dux to the deficiency of quality and content. Therefore, it is nexessary to establesh the data system of emission inventory for the purpose of being used in air quality management. In this study, the database program of emissions inventory was made using the clipper version 5.2 program. The major functions of datavase program are to estimate the emission quantities and contributions of air pollutants by the grid, the source scale, the source type, and the season in Saha-Gu.

        조팝나무 揷木時期 및 揷床土의 種類가 發根에 미치는 影響

        Cutting experiment was conducted to develop a mass propagation method for Spiraea prunifolia var. simpliciflora Nakai. The optimum season for hardwood cutting was between December and early April, but cutting could be done year-round by using rhizome. NAA treatment (100 ppm) was the most effective as rooting promoter. IBA and IAA were also found to be effective. The effect of sand, red clay, loam, silty loam and vermiculite had little differences in rooting especially when cuttings were done earlier than April 5.
