        The purpose of this study is to probe into the meaning of space mentioned in the poetry of Ho-seung Jeong. In his poetic scenery, the space was full of the image of tragedy. The mountain, a place of the vertical connection between the two worlds, heavenly and earthly, would rather be a space of discontinuity and despair. The forest was a space of dead body while the ridge was that of separation, waiting, and prospect. The field was a place of poverty and loneliness. The road symbolized meeting and separation, thought and recollection, and labor and exploitation. The heaven, an ideal world(utopia), was the space of a will and comfort of life. The water, kept in by the Hoam reservoir, was an image of another hometown that would be neither changed nor developed. Theses tragic images of space(or place) indicated well the dark situation of our farming villages which had become impoverished and exhausted by the exploitation of Japanese imperialism in the 1930' s

        동일한 시료에 대한 국내 기관간의 STR 분석결과 비교 : STR 유전자좌 분석법의 표준화 설정을 위하여

        This paper described a collaborative exercise intended to see what kinds of short tandem repeat (STR) loci are used in different DNA typing laboratories in Korea and to compare their results for the demonstration whether uniformity of DNA profiling results from different laboratory could be achieved in Korea Laboratories were asked to test five tissue DNAs using methods routinely used in each laboratory and to report the results to the coordinating laboratory. The exercise demonstrated that each laboratory was using different STR loci for the typing with different STR numbers,2 VNTRS,36 STRs and amelogenin in total, and the direct comparison of the results from all the laboratory for the 18 loci could not be done as only one laboratory submitted typing results. Among 21 loci for which several laboratories submitted typing results, results for 14 loci were the same and results for the other 7 loci were different depending on the participating laboratory. D1S80, F13A01, D16S539, D21S11, D18S51, D3S1744 were the loci with different typing results. Even in the cases where commercial kits were used, the results were not the same depending on the machines used, that is the capillary electrophoresis or the gel based electrophoresis. The reason for the different results, points about the standardization of the methods arid the profiling data were described.

        The landscape of cultural assets is an important historic and symbolic element in a city. The purpose of this study is to investigate and suggest visual resource management methods for the adjacent area of cultural assets including the area of cultural assets itself. Cultural assets areas can be classified into five types according to the neighboring road layout and the relationship with the road. One case per each type has been selected for investigation. Through the case studies, the selection of landscape control points with the various distances from each cultural assets as a terminal vista has been investigated. And the building height control plan with the three levels of allowance limits has been suggested; acceptable, acceptable only after design review or landscape impact assessment, and unacceptable. For more effective landscape management, it is desirable to introduce visual impact assessment system in urban landscape management system.

        A common form of relapse in adenocarcinoma of the stomach is intraperitoneal dissemination, in fact, among gastric adenocarcinoma patients who have undergone surgery intended to cure, approximately 50% of the patients develope initial recurrence in the peritoneal cavity regardless of the anatomic site of the primary tumor within the stomach. The efficacy of systemic postoperative chemotherapy to prevent peritoneal recurrence of gastrric adcnocarcinoma is not satisfactory. There is still a great need for improved therapeutic strategies on the disseminated microscopic disease and small miliary nodules remaining on the peritoneal surface or lymphatics after operation. The authers have made fluorouracil-polyglycolic acid composite disks(Fu-PGA disks) with fluorouracil and biodegradable polymer: polyglycolic acid for more effective intraperitoneal chemotherapy. We inserted the Fu-PGA disk(s) in the peritoneal cavity of rat and pharmacokinetic study was performed to measure fluorouracil concentration in the peritoneal fluid, plasma, liver, kidney and heart tissue at 24 hour, 72 hour and 168 hour after insertion of Fu-PGA disk(s). Myelosuppressive action of this composite also was determined following its administration. The data of this study suggested that Fu-PGA composite will be a new device releasing drugs in a controlled manner and having targetability to peritoneum, and this device will be improving the efficacy of intraperitoneal chemotherapy for gastric adenocarcinoma.

        The purpose of this study is to improve landscape quality and suggest guidelines for riverine area in Seoul, Korea. Problems of riverine area in Seoul are classified into five types: blocked, concrete, overwshelmed, confused, different. There are three landscape types of riverine area in Seoul; exposed hillside, hillside in background and built up area. And landscape control points are divided into three types; panoramic landscape control point(PLCP), strategic landscape control point or line(SLCP or SLCL), district landscape control point(DLCP). So the landscape management guidelines for riverine area in Seoul can be suggested according to the characteristics of types both of landscape and landscape control point.

        The studies on Taekwondo kicking techniques have not been practical to apply to the teaching or coaching fields because they merely focused on the kicking leg and didn't define sufficiently overall motion patterns. The main reason for this is that there has been no useful method to describe complex Taekwondo kicking techniques such as Cardan angle which is effective to represent joint motion due to the production of three independent rotations about three independent axis. Therefore, the purpose of this study was to kinematically define the joint and segment motion by using Cardan angle during Dolgae-chagi(360 ˚ turning kick), Dwi-huryeochagi(backward thrashing kick) , and Dwi-chagi(back kick) in order to provide practical information for the Taekwondo teaching field. Six male elite Taekwondo players with the height of 177±5.6 cm and the weight 72.2±7.6 Kg were filmed using three-dimensional cinematography during Dolgae-chagi, Dwi-huryeochagi and Dwi-chagi. The joint and segment motion of the three Teakwondo kicking techniques was represented with Cardan angle calculated by the normal vector analysis. With Cardan angle the joint and segment motions of the three Taekwondo kicking techniques are defined as the following table.

        평지와 오르막경사의 트레드밀 걷기와 달리기 동안 발보장구가 발바닥근막염과 관련된 발아치 스트레인에 미치는 영향

There is some evidence that one of major factors to produce plantar fasciitis depends on the magnitude of the foot arch strain. The orthotics that can reduce the foot arch strain during locomotion may be effective to prevent or treat plantar fasciitis. Therefore, the purpose of this study was to investigate the effect of control condition and three types of foot orthotics on 3-dimensional foot arch strain that can produce plantar fasciitis during treadmill level and uphill walking and running. Sixteen male subjects are recruited and the arch length and height strain according to three types of foot orthotics with respect to control condition were measured by using two digital video cameras. The first hypothesis which the comfort of foot orthotics would be increased from arch pad, half length orthotics to full length orthotics was mostly accepted. It suggested that the types of the foot orthotics could be properly prescribed according foot regions that is pain or abnormal. The second hypothesis which the foot arch strain can be reduced by foot orthotics during level heel-toe walking and running and the third hypothesis which the foot arch strain can be reduced by foot orthotics during uphill heel-toe walking and running were rejected. The foot arch length and height strain during walking and running showed small and subject-specific characteristics and could not be optimal biomechanical variable to prove the overall comfort. The forth hypothesis which the foot arch strain cannot be reduced by foot orthotics during uphill toe walking and running was accepted. With the foot arch length and height strain during uphill toe walking and running the windlass mechanism suggested by Hicks can be explained successfully and excessive uphill toe walking and running can be one of cause of plantar fasciitis. The dynamic investigation on the foot arch such as walking and running should be carefully observed with integrated insights considering ligaments and foot bones as well as plantar fascia, extrinsic muscles and tendons, and intrinsic muscles and tendons.
