Anti‑inflammatory effect of Rosa laevigata extract on in vitro and in vivo model of allergic asthma via the suppression of IgE and related cytokines

Backgrounds Exposure to a toxic stress environment leads to excessive inflammatory reactions and induces allergic asthma resulting in airway hyper-responsiveness. We investigated whether Rosa laevigata Michx. (RL) exhibits anti-inflammatory effects related allergic asthma in both an in vitro and in vivo studies. Methods To investigate the preventive effect of RL, A549 cells were pretreated with non-toxic doses of RL (500, 1000 μg/ mL) and induced by epidermal growth factor (EGF) (10 ng/mL). First, we evaluated cytotoxicity via a MTT assay. The inhibitory effects of NF-κB activity and COX-2 expression were confirmed by a western blot assay. In the in vivo study, BALB/c mice were challenged with regard to ovalbumin via an intraperitoneal injection of RL (50, 100 mg/kg) and were killed to collect bronchoalveolar lavage fluid, lung tissues and blood serum. The number of inflammatory cells, the secretion of IgE and related cytokines were monitored by ELISA and multiplex assays. Results RL significantly suppressed NF-κB activity and COX-2 expression levels in EGF-induced A549 cells. In a chronic inflammation mice model, pretreatment of RL attenuated allergic airway inflammation by reducing inflammatory cells, the secretion of IgE and related cytokines in a dose-dependent manner. Conclusions The results of this study present the possibility of RL as a therapeutic agent for allergic asthma patients via the suppression of IgE and related cytokines.

The objective of this study is to review charateristics of mono and bipolar electrolytic cell in various packing materials, applied valtages and material size. In this paper, we were investigated in the case of the electrolysis of CuSO₄ and Cd(NO₃)₂ solution under different conditions. When the electrolysis was carried out in the cell packed activated carbon from coconut shell, the reaction rate and particile size were increased, the reaction rate increased and metal deposited on packed material. The electrolytic treatment efficiency was over 98% when electrolysis were carried out at 20 voltages during 3 hours.

Mo¨nckeberg 중막 석회화로 인해 초기자궁내막암이 진행성 자궁내막암으로 판독되었던 1례

Mo¨nckeberg 중막 석회화는 크거나 중간크기의 근육성 동맥(large and medium-sized muscular arteries)의 중막(media)에 노화와 관련되어 퇴행성 과정인 윤상석회화가 특징적으로 나타나는 동맥경화증의 일종으로, 근본적으로 폐쇄성 죽상경화증(occlusive atherosclerosis)과는 다른 과정으로 동맥의 관강(lumen)을 막는 경우는 드물어 상대적으로 임상적 의의는 적거나 거의 없다. 저자들은 Mo¨nckeberg 중막 석회화때문에 초음파 및 컴퓨터 단층촬영에 의한 병기결정에 혼란을 초래하였던 초기 자궁내막암 1례를 경험하였기에 문헌고찰과 함께 보고하는 바이다. The Mo¨nckeberg medial calcification is aging change rather than disease entity. The Mo¨nckeberg medial calcification involve muscular arteries of limb, head, and genital track and cause fibrosis change associated with hyalinization and fine basophilic staining, suggesting early calcification with little or no clinical significance but is demonstrable on roentgenograms as regular and diffuse radiopaque shadow under intima. We experienced one case of mis-staging of early endometrial cancer due to the Mo¨nckeberg medial calcification therefore, we report this case with a brief review of the literature of the Mo¨nckeberg medial calcification.

주변환경 방사선감시기 시스템에 관한 연구

원자력발전소내 공정계통들에서나, 핵시설 주변의 특정지역에서의 방사선누출을 감시하기 위해서 특정 지역주변 방사선 감시계통들이 설치되어져 있다. 환경오염 문제와 함께 주변환경 방사선 감시계통의 수요가 날로 증대할 것으로 예상되므로 국내에서 개발제작하기 위한 요소기술의 확보가 필요하다. 본 논문에서는, 외국업체들이 시판하고 있는 주변환경 방사선 감시계통을 조사분석하여, 채택된 기술과 장래의 발전방향이 고려된 주변환경 감시계통의 프로토타입(Prototype)을 설계·개발하였다. 개발·제작된 프로토타입에서는 평면표시소자(LCD)와 마이크로프로세서(Intel 8051 series)를 사용하여 하드웨어 부분을 구성하였으며, 소프트웨어 부분의 프로그램들은 A8051 ASM Language와 C-Language로 작성하였다. Area Radiation Monitoring Systems are installed to monitor radioative release of particular area around the nuclear facilities and process & effluent systems within the nu-clear power plants. With the environmental contamination problems, it if: expected that the need for the Environmental Radiation Monitoring System will increase in our country, and it needs to establish a generic technology for development and manufacturing of the Environ mental Radiation Monitoring System domestically. In this paper, Environmental Radiation Monitoring System(ERMS) of foreign-make which is on the market is surveyed and analyzed, and the prototype of ERMS is developed and manufactured with adopted technology by foreign country and considering of the direction of development in the future. In this prototype which is developed and manufactured, the hardware part consists of a flat display device(LCD device) and a microprocessor(Intel 8051 series), while the software part is comprised of the programs which are implemented by A8051 ASM language and C-language.

디젤엔진 발전기 세트의 저소음화에 관한 연구

Diesel engine generator sets in heavy industry plants and residential/official buildings can cause serious noise problem. In this paper, a low noise diesel engine generator set is developed through constructing an acoustic enclosure with ventilation duct silencers that effectively block the acoustic flow but guarantee good thermal flow. Acoustic design of the enclosure which is initially layout by rule of thumb, is evolved systematically through numerical reanalysis procedure, based on indirect boundary element method(IBEM) with a commercial acoustic analysis code. The acoustic and cooling performances of the developed low noise diesel engine generator set are confirmed by the experiment.

우지와 고섬유소가 카드뮴 음용수 섭취 흰쥐의 지질대사와 대퇴골강도에 미치는 영향

This study was performed to investigate the high intake effect of beef tallow and α-cellulose on cadmium drink rats' serum and liver lipid contents and femur strength. Thirty two male rats of Sprague-Dawley strain weighing 200g were divided into 4 groups: control(C), control diet and cadmium drink(C-Cd), beef tallow with high fiber(BT), beef tallow with high fiber and cadmium drink(BT-Cd). Feed intake was not significantly different in 4 groups but weight gain and FER were lower in two Cd drink groups significantly. Liver weight was low in two cadmium drink groups and BT group compared control. Kidney weight were not different in 4 groups. The length of small intestine was short in BT group but cadmium drink made the length longer. Serum lipids were a little high in two cadmium drink groups, but not detected statistical significance. Serum albumin, calcium and glucose contents were significantly higher in BT and cadmium dirnk groups. Liver TG was increased in BT, but cadmium drink made lower triglyceride contents. Liver total cholesterol content was low in BT and Cd drink groups than that of control. Fecal excretion of lipids were not significantly different in 4 groups. The weight of femur was no different significantly in four groups, but ash contents and femur strength were lower in cadmium drink and BT groups. The results of this study indicated that the lower effect of liver and serum lipids contents and serum triglyceride evoked by cadmium drink. There was no amelioration effect evoked by cadmium drink on beef tallow and α-cellulose diet. The deterioration effect found in serum glucose, albumin and calcium contents. in beef tallow and α-cellulose diet.

Autophagy 매개체인 LC3로 인한 Aβ 신경 독성의 증가

Autophagy is a highly regulated cellular mechanism that results in the bulk degradation process and which seems to be implicated in a variety of physiological and pathological conditions relevant to Alzheimer's disease (AD). Also, it has been suggested that the large part of autophagy is mediated by Light Chains 3 (LC3). Despite research suggesting an association between AD and autophagy, many issues remain to be addressed. To determine the relevance between autophagy and AD, we evaluated amyloid beta (Aβ) toxicity either in SH-SY5Y cells transfected with only EGFP or the cells exogeneously transfected with EGFP-LC3, mediating autophagy easily by overexpressed LC3. Without treatment of Aβ, the cell viabilities were quietly similar in both kinds of cells. The cell viability was decreased significantly in LC3 overexpressed cells. Consistently, more increased oxidative stress was detected in LC3 overexpressed cells. These results suggest that autophagy enhanced Aβ toxicity by way of increasing oxidative stress at least in part. This study will be of help to understand the role of autophagy in neurodegenerative diseases.
