Servet Ahmet Doğdu,Cemal Turan,Tolga Depci,Ersin Bahçeci,Kemal Sangün,Deniz Ayas 한양대학교 청정에너지연구소 2024 Journal of Ceramic Processing Research Vol.25 No.1
The pufferfishes are invasive alien fish species in the Mediterranean Sea with a powerful toxin in its body called tetrodotoxin. It has no economic value and is very abundant all over the world’s marine waters. Calcium phosphate bioceramic materialsespecially hydroxyapatite are commonly applied as implant resources because of their close resemblance in structure withnatural bone. In this study, natural hydroxyapatite was obtained from the teeth of four pufferfish, the obtained products werecharacterised and their potential uses in the biomedical industry were revealed. Pufferfish teeth were extracted from the fish, thoroughly rinsed using deionized water, measured, and subsequently placed within a furnace set at a temperature of 105 °C. Once dehydrated, the teeth were finely pulverized using a planetary ball mill. This powdered material was then subjected tovarious analyses, including elemental composition assessment, TTX analysis, and SEM-EDX examinations. Ca/P atomic ratiovalues of Lagocephalus suezensis, L. guentheri, Sphoeroides pachygaster and Torguigener favimaculasus teeth were obtainedas 1.58, 1.64, 1.67 and 1.47, respectively. The analysis findings suggest that pufferfish teeth could serve as a promising naturalalternative source for biomedical and various other industries in need of natural hydroxyapatite. This hydroxyapatite can beutilized for creating fillers, implants, bone powder, and prostheses with applications in biomedicine and various industries. However, it should not be forgotten that the necessary tests must be carried out before any human use is made available.
COMPATIBLE MAPS AND COMMON FIXED POINTS IN MENGER PROBABILISTIC METRIC SPACES
Kutukcu, Servet,Sharma, Sushil Korean Mathematical Society 2009 대한수학회논문집 Vol.24 No.1
In the present work, we introduce two types of compatible maps and prove a common fixed point theorem for such maps in Menger probabilistic metric spaces. Our result generalizes and extends many known results in metric spaces and fuzzy metric spaces.

In this paper we prove a common fixed point theorem for compatible maps of type $(\beta)$ on fuzzy metric spaces with arbitrary continuous t-norm.
A study on dynamic modulus of self-consolidating rubberized concrete
Mehmet Emiroğlu,Servet Yildiz,M. Halidun Keleştemur 사단법인 한국계산역학회 2015 Computers and Concrete, An International Journal Vol.15 No.5
In this study, dynamic modulus of elasticity of self-consolidating rubberized concrete is evaluated by using results of ultrasonic pulse velocity and resonance frequency tests. Additionally, correlation between dynamic modulus of elasticity and compressive strength results is compared. For evaluating the dynamic modulus of elasticity of self-consolidating rubberized concrete, prismatic specimens having 100 x 100 x 500 mm dimensions are prepared. Dynamic modulus of elasticity values obtained by non-destructive measurements techniques are well agreed with those given in the literature.
Black ceramic pigments for porcelain tile bodies produced with chromite ores and iron oxide waste
Belgin Tanisan,Servet Turan 한양대학교 세라믹연구소 2011 Journal of Ceramic Processing Research Vol.12 No.4
In this study, two different natural chromite ores and iron oxide waste from the steel rolling industry were used as less expensive alternative raw materials for the synthesis of black ceramic pigments to be used in porcelain tile bodies. The effects of chromite ore-iron oxide waste ratios and calcination temperature on the pigment properties were investigated. It was found that chromite ore with a higher Cr2O3/FeO ratio can be used to synthesise black ceramic pigments when combined with the iron oxide waste. However, their color intensity was not as strong as commercial black pigments due to the presence of other phases and impurities coming from the chromite ores. When these pigments were used in combination with commercial black pigments, the consumption of the commercial pigments can be reduced, providing cost savings for coloration of porcelain tile bodies.
Common Fixed Points of w-Compatible Maps in Modular A-metric Spaces
Elif Kaplan,Servet Kutukcu 한국수학교육학회 2021 純粹 및 應用數學 Vol.28 No.2
The aim of this paper is to prove a common fixed point theorem for two w-compatible maps in modular A-metric spaces. The main result is also illustrated by an example to demonstrate the degree of validity of our hypothesis.

Sema Koç,Servet Akyüz,Battal Tahsin Somuk,Harun Soyalic,Beyhan Yılmaz,Abdullah Taskin,Hasan Bilinc,Nurten Aksoy 대한청각학회 2016 Journal of Audiology & Otology Vol.20 No.1
Background and Objectives: The aim of this study was to investigate serum paraoxanase-1 (PON) activity, total oxidant status (TOS), total antioxidant status (TAS), and the oxidative stress index (OSI) in tinnitus; and to compare the results with data from healthy subjects. Subjects and Methods: A total of 114 subjects-54 patients with tinnitus and 60 healthy controls were enrolled in this study. Serum PON activity, TOS, TAS, and OSI levels were measured. Results: In the tinnitus group, TAS, and PON were significantly lower than in the control group (p<0.001). However, the TOS, and OSI levels were significantly higher in the tinnitus group than in the control group (p<0.001). Conclusions: According to the data obtained from the present study, patients with tinnitus were exposed to potent oxidative stress. Oxidative stress may be the key contributing factor to the pathogenesis of tinnitus.

The aim of this study was to evaluate the efficacy of the anti-inflammatory effects of propolis on the systemic and local effects on experimental periodontitis and diabetes. Fifty-six Wistar rats were divided into seven groups: (1) negativecontrol (NC), (2) periodontitis (P), (3) diabetes (D), (4) diabetes + periodontitis (DP), (5) periodontitis + propolis (P-Pro), (6) diabetes + propolis (D-Pro), and (7) diabetes + periodontitis + propolis (DP-Pro). Periodontitis was induced by ligature placement and diabetes was induced by streptozotocin injection. Propolis (Pro) was administrated by oral gavage (100 mg/kg/day). On day 21, plasma was obtained for analysis and alveolar bone level was evaluated using histomorphometric analysis. Compared to NC the final blood glucose levels for D-Pro was not significantly different (P = .052), however, D, DP, and DPPro were significantly different. There were no statistically significant differences in blood glucose concentrations between P and P-Pro, between D and D-Pro, and between DP and DP-Pro. All groups showed significantly more alveolar bone loss compared with NC. A significant difference in bone loss was found between P and P-Pro, and DP and DP-Pro, however there was no difference between D and D-Pro. Plasma interleukin 1beta (IL-1β), tumor necrosis factor-alpha (TNF-α), and matrix metalloproteinase-8 (MMP-8) levels were not significantly different among groups. In conclusion, propolis reduced fasting blood glucose levels in diabetes. In addition, propolis might be beneficial as an adjunct treatment of diabetes associated periodontitis and periodontitis without diabetes.
