A direct solver for the Legendre tau approximation for the twodimensional Poisson problem is proposed. Using the factorization of symmetric eigenvalue problem, the algorithm overcomes the weak points of the Schur decomposition and the conventional diagonalization techniques for the Legendre tau approximation. The convergence of the method is proved and numerical results are presented.
Current Status of Tree Height Estimation from Airborne LiDAR Data

Most nations around the world have expressed significant concern in the climate change due to a rapid increase in green-house gases and thus reach an international agreement to control total amount of these gases for the mitigation of global warming. As the most important absorber of carbon dioxide, one of major green-house gases, forest resources should be more tightly managed with a means to measure their total amount, forest biomass, efficiently and accurately. Forest biomass has close relations with forest areas and tree height. Airborne LiDAR data helps extract biophysical properties on forest resources such as tree height more efficiently by providing detailed spatial information about the wide-range ground surface. Many researchers have thus developed various methods to estimate tree height using LiDAR data, which retain different performance and characteristics depending on forest environment and data characteristics. In this study, we attempted to investigate such various techniques to estimate tree height, elaborate their advantages and limitations, and suggest future research directions. We first examined the characteristics of LiDAR data applied to forest studies and then analyzed methods on filtering, a precedent procedure for tree height estimation. Regarding the methods for tree height estimation, we classified them into two categories: individual tree-based and regression-based method and described the representative methods under each category with a summary of their analysis results. Finally, we reviewed techniques regarding data fusion between LiDAR and other remote sensing data for future work.

This study examines the spatial compositions of children’s reading rooms, furniture characteristics, and users’ satisfaction levels for the furniture in public libraries. Field measurements and surveys were performed in 5 public libraries. Results imply that the spatial compositions of reading rooms in libraries were classified into three categories according to the locations of bookshelves and reading space. Management areas should not be located at the edge of reading rooms but be located at the center of reading rooms to avoid clerks’ narrow viewing angle toward young kids and to ensure security for the kids. The evaluation for bookshelves according to evaluation checklists was acceptable, but users were not always satisfied with the bookshelves due to the inappropriate positions of books in shelves. The evaluation for desks was generally acceptable according to the checklists and users were satisfied with them. In general, the desk with higher scores by the checklist provided better satisfaction to users. However, the score by checklist for chair and user satisfaction were not always similar each other. Convenience areas in reading rooms were not enough compared to bookshelf, reading and management area. Computer tables that were designed in a way that users sit down and use the computers were highly preferred.
Legendre Tau Method for the 2-D Stokes Problem

A Legendre spectral tau approximation scheme for solving the two-dimensional stationary incompressible Stokes equations is considered. Based on the vorticitystream function formulation and variational forms, boundary value and normal derivative of vorticity are computed. A factorization technique for matrix stems based on the Schur decomposition is derived. Several numerical experiments are performed.

구조물 이미지 데이터를 딥러닝 학습하여 구조물 손상 자동 탐지 모델을 개발할 때, 이미지의 해상도를 높여 균열형상을 더욱 선명하게 하면 손상 탐지의 정확도를 향상할 수 있다. 본 연구에서는 이미지 초해상화(Image Super-Resolution) 기술을 균열 탐지 모델의 학습데이터에도 적용하여 (1) 학습데이터 초해상화 (2) 균열탐지모델 학습 (3) 테스트데이터 초해상화 (4) 균열 탐지 네 단계의 새로운 초해상화 기반 고정확도 균열 탐지 프로세스를 제안하였다. 본 프로세스를 이용하여 100장의 이미지로 균열 탐지 테스트를 수행한 결과, 균열 탐지 정확도가 매우 높아짐을 확인하였다.
주거지원 프로그램 이용 여부에 영향을 주는 1인가구의 특성

In order to improve the effectiveness of the housing support program, this study analyzed the characteristics of single-person households that influence the use of the program and suggested policy. It was found that single-person households have relatively lower educational levels and housing price level than multi-person households, and notably have low-income. As a result of analyzing the characteristics of single-person households that use the housing supply program, the utilization rate of single-person households willing to buy their own homes and households willing to move into public housing was low. It is noteworthy that the utilization rate of households living in the metropolitan area and self-owned households is low, and the utilization rate of the elderly is higher than that of other age groups. The housing needs of single-person households are different according to each regional situation, and this response can be used to establish appropriate housing policies when cooperation between the central and local governments is achieved. In addition to the policies currently in operation, we hope that this study will serve as a starting point for establishing measures to improve the effectiveness of the housing support program for single-person households in the future.
‘한 책, 한 도시 운동’의 아동청소년도서 선정현황 및 분석

본고는 2018년 현재 약 36개 지역에서 시행하는 한 책, 한 도시 운동의 아동청소년도서 선정 현황 및 결과를 분석했으며 특히 한 책, 한 도시 운동의 특징인 대중성 및 공동체 지향성과 도서 선정과정과의 관계를 알아보았다. 첫째 아동도서 장르는 동화가 최다 선정되고 그림책 선정도 증가하는 추세이며 동시 장르와 교양서는 배제되었다. 청소년도서는 문학서와 교양서가 모두 선호되어 교육적 목적이 나타났다. 둘째 작가와 작품의 선정횟수로 볼 때 최근 동화 장르 선정은 작가와 작품 모두 다양해지는 추세이며 청소년소설과 교양서는 소수의 작가, 작품에 집중되었다. 셋째 운동의 취지는 주제의식이 뚜렷하고 토론이 가능한 도서를 선정하는 근거로 작용하며 청소년교양서의 주제는 인문학 분야에 치우쳐 있다. 넷째 선정도서의 출간연도의 분석 결과 신간 위주로 선정되었으며 출판사는 대형 출판사의 책이 주로 선정되었다. 한 책, 한 도시 운동은 ‘책 한 권’과 ‘대규모 행사’라는 일방적이고 획일적인 방식을 벗고 다양성을 지향하는 방식으로 개편할 필요가 있다. This paper analyzed the current status and results of the selection of children’s book and youth books reading event of ‘One book, One city in Korea’, which is conducted in 36 regions as of 2018. In particular, we investigated the relationship between popularity and community orientation and book selection process, which characteristics of a book reading movement. First, fairy tales have been selected as the largest selection and the selection of picture books has been increasing. But children’s verse and educational books were excluded. Youth books were preferred for literature and literary works, and educational purposes were revealed. Second, in terms of the number of selection for artist and works for the genre of the fairy tale are becoming diverse both in the artist and the work, and the juvenile novel and the literary book have concentrated on a few writers and works. Third, the purpose of the book reading movement is to provide a basis for selecting books that are strong in theme and can be discussed. The subject of youth literacy is biased toward the field of humanities. Fourth, as a result of analysis of the book selection as year of publication, new book and book from large publisher were selected.
