The aim of this study is to explore human knowledge of language by comparing the research methodology of Chinese speech recognition, phonetics, and phonology in the era of artificial intelligence. By doing this, this study tries to analyze underlying linguistic views in every methods. We first described an acoustic model and a language model in the speech recognition model. A speech chain of human communication was also described to find common ground with the speech recognition model. Then, using the phonetic weakening variant of modern Chinese function word “ge”, a rule-based generative phonological framework has been adapted based on rationalistic views. The view of the first-generation artificial intelligence was also discussed in this regard. Furthermore, the constraint weights for the phonetic weakening variant of “ge” were obtained based on the Harmonic grammar and the Maximum entropy model. These modeling were in relation to machine learning of second-generation artificial intelligence based on an empirical perspective. To conclude, it was revealed that knowledge of human speech is probabilistic. Furthermore, due to a great deal of big data training, mutual AI is expected to be able to learn about the universal grammar of human language, but it was pointed out that the limits are still clear in terms of functionalism and pragmatics.

This study investigates the phonetic adaptation of the syllable final [p], [t], [k], [m], [l] from Korean to Chinese based on stochastic Optimality Theory. Since [p], [t], [k], [m], [l] are prohibited at the coda position in Chinese, they were variably repaired to satisfy native phonotactics. After describing the variable adaptation patterns of K-pop lyrics and basic Korean expressions shared on Baidu Zhidao, specific weights of regarding constraints were calculated based on machine learning using Maximum Entropy Modeling. Theoretical implications on the non-typical quality of epenthetic vowels, the preferences for consonant deletion, and the irrelevance between preceding vowels and adaptation typology were discussed. To conclude, phonotactics on the Chinese syllable final position conveys both non-categorical and categorical characteristics at the same time.
Large-Signal Output Equivalent Circuit Modeling for RF MOSFET IC Simulation

An accurate large-signal BSIM4 macro model including new empirical bias-dependent equations of the drain-source capacitance and channel resistance constructed from bias-dependent data extracted from S-parameters of RF MOSFETs is developed to reduce S22-parameter error of a conventional BSIM4 model. Its accuracy is validated by finding the much better agreement up to 40 ㎓ between the measured and modeled S22-parameter than the conventional one in the wide bias range.

Long-acting injectable (LAI) antipsychotics are useful in the treatments for schizophrenic patients with poor adherence due to their maintaining feature of therapeutic plasma level without daily administrations. However, their long-lasting property can cause complicated problems such as a long-lasting side effect. We report a patient who experienced LAI-induced extrapyramidal symptoms (EPSs) for 5 months after a single injection. During that period, every trial to ameliorate this condition turned out to be a failure. The 3-month formulation of paliperidone palmitate is now close at hand. We have to be aware of possible long-lasting adverse events and confirm the tolerability to LAI before use.
Real-time Air Conditioner Zone Temperature Control by Cascaded Intelligent PI

In this paper, we control an air conditioner system thought the application of a newly developed Intelligent Proportional Integral (i-PI) Controller that regulate a zone temperature to desired setpoint temperature. This method approximates the unknown nonlinear system function and is applied to the problem of controlling compressor for a vapor compression cycle system where evaporating pressure target is automatically determined by the i-PI so that zone temperature is met to desired setpoint.
Development of the morpheme –mbo in American English

This paper presents the development of the morpheme ?mbo in American English. A group of words with the ?mbo ending came into English quite recently, e.g., Sambo, bimbo, Jumbo, Dumbo, and Rambo, mostly after the 1900s. Many of them seem to be produced by blending at the beginning, but as the type frequency increased with the converged meaning of ‘big’ and/or ‘stupid,’ the ?mbo part began to be considered separable. New words were formed using ?mbo, e.g., himbo, and mimbo and it is now used quite productively as an affix added to personal names and common terms denoting people, e.g., Jimbo, Stevo, lesbo, and gaybo. The new usage can be considered a kind of phonesthesia especially in contrast with the diminutive ?y suffix for personal names.
Clinical Observation Study of Massive Blood Transfusion in a Tertiary Care Hospital in Korea

Purpose: Massive blood transfusios are uncommon. The goal of this study was to propose an ideal ratio for the blood component of massive hemorrhage treatment after review of five years of massive transfusion practice, in order to have the best possible clinical outcomes. Materials and Methods: We defined a ‘massive transfusionʼ as receiving 10 or more units of red blood cells in one day. A list of patients receiving a massive transfusion from 2004 to 2008 was generated using the electronic medical records. For each case, we calculated the ratio of blood components and examined its relationship to their survival. Results: Three hundred thirty four patients underwent massive transfusion during the five years of the study. The overall seven-day hospital mortality for massive transfusion patients was 26.1%. Factors independently predictive of survival were a fresh-frozen plasma (FFP)/packed red blood cell (pRBC) ratio≥1.1 with an odds ratio (OR) of 1.96 (1.03-3.70), and elective admission with an OR of 2.6 (1.52-4.40). The receiver operation characteristic (ROC) curve suggest that a 1 : 1 : 1 ratio of pRBCs to FFP to platelets is the best ratio for survival. Conclusion: Fixing blood-component ratios during active hemorrhage shows improved outcomes. Thus, the hospital blood bank and physician hypothesized that a fixed blood component ratio would help to reduce mortality and decrease utilization of the overall blood component.
