Effect of Shield Line on Noise Margin and Refresh Time of Planar DRAM Cell for Embedded Application

In this paper we investigate the effect of a shield metal line inserted between adjacent bit lines on the refresh time and noise margin in a planar DRAM cell. The DRAM cell consists of an access transistor, which is biased to 2.5V during operation, and an NMOS capacitor having the capacitance of 10fF per unit cell and a cell size of 3.63 μm2. We designed a 1Mb DRAM with an open bit-line structure. It appears that the refresh time is increased from 4.5 ms to 12 ms when the shield metal line is inserted. Also, it appears that no failure occurs when Vcc is increased from 2.2 V to 3 V during a bump up test, while it fails at 2.8 V without a shield metal line. Raphael simulation reveals that the coupling noise between adjacent bit lines is reduced to 1/24 when a shield metal line is inserted, while total capacitance per bit line is increased only by 10%.

Diketopiperazine is a natural products found from bacteria, fungi, marine sponges, gorgonian and red algae. They are cyclic dipeptides possessing relatively simple and rigid structures with chiral nature and various side chains. The compounds in this structure class have been known to possess diverse bio-activities including antibiotic activity, anti-cancer activity, neuroprotective activity, and anti-inflammatory activity. Previous studies have reported proinflammatory responses of endothelial cells to the release of polyphosphate (PolyP). In this study, we examined the anti-inflammatory responses and mechanisms of diketopiperazine and its effects on PolyP-induced septic activities in human umbilical vein endothelial cells (HUVECs) and mice. The survival rates, septic biomarker levels, behavior of human neutrophils, and vascular permeability were determined in PolyP-activated HUVECs and mice. Diketo-piperazine suppressed the PolyP-mediated vascular barrier permeability, upregulation of inflammatory biomarkers, adhesion/migration of leukocytes, and activation and/or production of nuclear factor-ell. tumor necrosis factor-a, and interleukin-6. Furthermore, diketopiperazine demonstrated protective effects on PolyP-mediated lethal death and the levels of the related septic biomarkers. Therefore, these results indicated the therapeutic potential of diketopiperazine on various systemic inflammatory dis-eases, such as sepsis or septic shock.
A Subthreshold CMOS RF Front-End Design for Low-Power Band-III T-DMB/DAB Receivers

This letter presents a CMOS RF front-end operating in a subthreshold region for low-power Band-III mobile TV applications. The performance and feasibility of the RF front-end are verified by integrating with a low-IF RF tuner fabricated in a 0.13-μm CMOS technology. The RF front-end achieves the measured noise figure of 4.4 dB and a wide gain control range of 68.7 dB with a maximum gain of 54.7 dB. The power consumption of the RF front-end is 13.8 mW from a 1.2 V supply.

<P><B>Abstract</B></P> <P>Bactericidal permeability-increasing protein (BPI)/lipopolysaccharide (LPS) binding proteins (LBPs) are well-known proteins that play an indispensable role in host antimicrobial defense. Herein, we report a homolog of BPI/LBP from black rockfish (<I>Sebastes schlegelii</I>) (designated as RfBPI/LBP) and characterize its structural and functional features at the molecular level. We identified the putative complete open reading frame (1422 bp) of <I>RfLBP</I> that encodes a 474 amino acid protein with a predicted molecular mass of ∼51.5 kDa. The primary protein sequence of RfBPI/LBP contains domain features of BPI/LBP family proteins and shares significant sequence consistency with its homologs. Our phylogenetic analysis clearly demonstrated the vertebrate ancestral origin of RfBPI/LBP, further reinforcing its evolutionary relationship with teleostean homologs. Recombinant RfBPI/LBP demonstrated <I>in vitro</I> LPS-binding activity and antibacterial activity against <I>Escherichia coli</I>, but not against <I>Streptococcus iniae</I>. Moreover, <I>RfBPI/LBP</I> exhibited temporal transcriptional activation against pathogens and pathogen-associated molecular patterns. Collectively, our findings suggest that RfBPI/LBP plays an essential role in host antimicrobial defense, plausibly through selective eradication of invading bacteria.</P> <P><B>Highlights</B></P> <P> <UL> <LI> Homolog of BPI/LBP was identified from black rockfish (RfBPI/LBP). </LI> <LI> Rf RfBPI/LBP resembled typical domain architecture of its homologues. </LI> <LI> Recombinant RfBPI/LBP showed selective antibacterial and LPS binding activity. </LI> <LI> <I>RfBPI/LBP</I> was ubiquitously expressed in tissues under physiological conditions. </LI> <LI> Transcriptional level of <I>RfBPI/LBP</I> was modulated under pathogenic stress. </LI> </UL> </P>

일반적으로 같은 장면을 찍은 여러 장의 이미지를 이용하여 파노라마를 생성하려는 경우에도 각 이미지 사이에는 많은 기하학적 제약이 존재하기 때문에 이미지들간의 관계를 단 하나의 호모그래피로 나타낼 수 없다. 하지만 현존하는 대부분의 파노라마 생성 알고리즘은 하나의 호모그래피를 이용하여 파노라마 이미지를 생성하는 방법을 이용하기 때문에 여러 가지 기하학적 제약을 제대로 나타낼 수 없다. 따라서 이러한 알고리즘을 이용한 파노라마의 결과 이미지는 많은 왜곡과 부정합을 포함하게 된다. 본 논문에서 우리는 이러한 문제를 해결하기 위하여 여러 개의 호모그래피를 생성하고 합성하여 파노라마 이미지를 생성하는 방법을 제안한다. 제안하는 방법을 통하여 기존 파노라마 생성 알고리즘에서 나타난 많은 왜곡과 부정합을 줄일 수 있으며 호모그래피 개수도 자동으로 판별하여 주기 때문에 사용자의 입력을 필요로 하지 않는다.
