The layered lithium-manganese oxide ($Li_2MnO_3$) as a cathode material of lithium ion secondary batteries was prepared and characterized the physico-chemical and electrochemical properties. The morphological and structural changes of MnO(OH) and $Li_2MnO_3$ are closely connected to the changes of electrochemical properties. The crystallinity of $Li_2MnO_3$ is enhanced as the annealing temperature increase, but its capacity is reduced due to the easier structural changes of less crystalline $Li_2MnO_3$ than highly crystalline one. Moreover, the addition of buffer material such as MnO(OH) into cathode causes to reduce the morphological and structural changes of layered $Li_2MnO_3$ and increase the discharge capacity and cycleability.
Efficient white organic light-emitting diodes with mixed electron transporting layers
Seo, Ji-Hoon,Park, Jung-Sun,Lee, Suk-Jae,Seo, Bo-Min,Lee, Kum-Ree,Park, Jung-Keun,Yoon, Seung-Soo,Kim, Young-Kwan 대한기계학회 2011 JOURNAL OF MECHANICAL SCIENCE AND TECHNOLOGY Vol.25 No.1
The authors demonstrated phosphorescent white organic light-emitting diodes (PHWOLED) with mixed electron transporting layers (M-ETL) using 4,7-diphenyl-1,10-phenanthroline (BPhen)/4,4'-bis (carbazol-9-yl)biphenyl (CBP). The M-ETL PHWOLED exhibited the optimum balance of holes and electrons, owing to the low electron mobility of the CBP M-ETL. The optimized PHWOLED showed a peak current efficiency of 16.85 cd/A and a peak external quantum efficiency of 7.32%.
Experience of serious intestinal hemorrhage and perforation in small bowel lymphoma: a case report
Seo Ree Kim,Sang Hoon Chun,진종률,권태근,이하예민,Min-Sun Jin,이국진 대한종양외과학회 2021 Korean Journal of Clinical Oncology Vol.17 No.2
There have been several reports of complications of small bowel lymphoma, such as bleeding, obstruction, and perforation, often require emergency surgery. It is hardly showed complications of bleeding and wound dehiscence for diffuse large B cell lymphoma with distal ileum involvement, which needed urgent surgery and medical management. A 65-year-old man with diffuse large B-cell lymphoma with distal ileum involvement experienced both intestinal bleeding and perforation during the course of treatment. As the patient was diagnosed with stage III disease, resection before chemotherapy was not considered due to the resulting delay in chemotherapy, which necessitated sufficient tissue healing. Chemotherapy is important when treating small bowel lymphoma, complications such as bleeding and perforation should always be considered for the treatment of small bowel lymphoma, and surgery is necessary in this situation. After surgery of the small bowel, subsequent chemotherapy could cause wound dehiscence and perforation; therefore, adequate recovery time should be given before chemotherapy.
Clinical Significance of CLDN18.2 Expression in Metastatic Diffuse-Type Gastric Cancer
Kim, Seo Ree,Shin, Kabsoo,Park, Jae Myung,Lee, Han Hong,Song, Kyo Yong,Lee, Sung Hak,Kim, Bohyun,Kim, Sang-Yeob,Seo, Junyoung,Kim, Jeong-Oh,Roh, Sang-Young,Kim, In-Ho The Korean Gastric Cancer Association 2020 Journal of gastric cancer Vol.20 No.4
Purpose: Isoform 2 of tight junction protein claudin-18 (CLDN18.2) is a potential target for gastric cancer treatment. A treatment targeting CLDN18.2 has shown promising results in gastric cancer. We investigated the clinical significance of CLDN18.2 and other cell-adherens junction molecules (Rho GTPase-activating protein [RhoGAP] and E-cadherin) in metastatic diffuse-type gastric cancer (mDGC). Materials and Methods: We evaluated CLDN18.2, RhoGAP, and E-cadherin expression using two-plex immunofluorescence and quantitative data analysis of H-scores of 77 consecutive mDGC patients who received first-line platinum-based chemotherapy between March 2015 and February 2017. Results: CLDN18.2 and E-cadherin expression was significantly lower in patients with peritoneal metastasis (PM) than those without PM at the time of diagnosis (P=0.010 and 0.013, respectively), whereas it was significantly higher in patients who never developed PM from diagnosis to death than in those who did (P=0.001 and 0.003, respectively). Meanwhile, CLDN18.2 and E-cadherin expression levels were significantly higher in patients with bone metastasis than in those without bone metastasis (P=0.010 and 0.001, respectively). Moreover, we identified a positive correlation between the expression of CLDN18.2 and E-cadherin (P<0.001), RhoGAP and CLDN18.2 (P=0.004), and RhoGAP and E-cadherin (P=0.001). Conversely, CLDN18.2, RhoGAP, and E-cadherin expression was not associated with chemotherapy response and survival. Conclusions: CLDN18.2 expression was reduced in patients with PM but significantly intact in those with bone metastasis. Furthermore, CLDN18.2 expression was positively correlated with other adherens junction molecules, which is clinically associated with mDGC and PM pathogenesis.

Anticancer effects of chungkukjang (a Korean short-term fermented soy paste) were studied in human gastric adenocarcinoma cells, and Bacillus strains from chungkukjang were isolated and identified. Before the experiments, six different chungkukjang products (K-, M-, Mn-, O-, Os-, and H-chungkukjangs) were purchased from a folk village in the Sunchang region, Jeonbuk, Republic of Korea. Based on sensory evaluation tests and general chemical and quality studies, K-, H-, and M-chungkukjangs were selected for the experiments. All chungkukjang samples exhibited in vitro anticancer activities; however, K-chungkukjang revealed the highest anticancer activity in the previous studies. In this experiment, K-chungkukjang again showed the highest anticancer effect in the AGS cells. At the concentration of 1mg/mL, K-chungkukjang (87%) showed the highest growth inhibitory effect, followed by H-chungkukjang (85%) and MC-chungkukjang (69%) (P<.05). K-chungkukjang induced apoptosis as determined by 4,6-diamidino-2-phenylindole staining and exhibited increased bax and decreased bcl-2 mRNA expression. Three representative Bacillus strains from K-chungkukjang were isolated and identified by recA gene sequencing as Bacillus cereus, Bacillus amyloliquefaciens, and Bacillus subtilis. Identifying B. cereus in the chungkukjang means that when chungkukjang is prepared by the traditional method, B. cereus, which is a common cause of foodborne disease, can grow during the natural fermentation process. All B. cereus strains, of course, are not pathogens, but its presence causes food safety concerns. Therefore, using a starter culture is safer than the traditional natural fermentation for the industrialization of chungkukjang in Korea.
