Sehyeon Baek,Sihyeon Kim,Jong Cheol Kim,Mi Rong Lee,So Eun Park,Dongwei Li,Tae Young Shin,Jae Su Kim 한국응용곤충학회 2018 한국응용곤충학회 학술대회논문집 Vol.2018 No.10
Whitefly has a broad host range of more than 600 species, and 40 biotypes have been reported worldwide. Among the various ecological types, B and Q are the most problematic. Especially, Biotype Q, which causes serious damage in the green house, mediates more than 40 kinds of viruses, including Tomato yellow leaf cull virus (TYLCV). The development of resistance to whitefly, adverse effects on non-target organisms, and strengthened legal regulations are making chemical control difficult in application. For these reasons, the use of alternative strategies is needed to suppress the Biotype Q whitefly population. Entomopathogenic fungi were investigated and developed to control hard-control insect pest, such as whitefly. These fungi are natural pathogen of their invertebrate host and contribute to the regulation of their host population in the environment. In addition, these agents are typically harmless to humans and non-targeted organisms and do not adversely impact the environment. Therefore, in this study, we screened pathogenic fungi against whitefly using our entomopathogenic fungal library, and virulence tests were conducted with conoidal suspension (1×107conidia/ml) in laboratory conditions. As a result, 10 isolates showed 80-100% mortality at 5 days after treatment. We will analyze the characteristics of these fungal isolates and evaluate their potential as insecticides against whitefly. The selected isolates against the high mortality of whiteflies can be effectively used in integrated pest management programs for whiteflies.

Silverleaf whitefly, Bemisia tabaci is a worldwide agricultural pest that cause serious damage to crops. However, since this insect developed resistance to variety of chemicals, alternative control strategy needs to be studied. In this study, we aimed to evaluate the potential of entomopathogenic fungi as biological control tools against this pest. We developed a dipping method in laboratory conditions to screen insecticidal activity of different fungal species and isolates against the nymphal stage of whitefly. The highly virulent isolates were characterized and 2 isolates were further selected based on their high conidial productivity and thermotolerance. Finally, several grain substrates were used to confirm the conidial productivity and thermotolerance of the selected isolates, revealing optimum conidial production when the fungi were cultured on millet grains. Both isolates could be used in further millet grain-based formulations to control the whitefly in fields.

Smartphone manufacturers launched innovative new products to gain market shares and significant profits. The success of these products was reliant on its novel innovation and on satisfing the consumers. Consumers were reacting different on consumer innovativeness, perceived risk and price sensitivity to purchase smartphone. Considering these points, this study investigated impacts of consumer innovativeness on the new products adoption in smartphone market and examined the gender differences among all the theoretical relationships proposed in this research model. The samples consisted of 316 questionnaires answered by university students. The collected data were analyzed by SPSS 22.0 and AMOS 22.0. According to the results of the reliability and validity test, all estimates were found reliable, and all items were included. The results confirmed that cognitive innovativeness has no influence on perceived risk, price sensitivity and purchased intention but sensory innovativeness has positive effects on perceived risk, price sensitivity and purchased intention. Perceived risk has positive effects on price sensitivity. Perceived risk has no impact on purchase intention but price sensitivity has negative impact on purchase intention. The effect of cognitive innovativeness on perceived risk was much stronger for male than for female consumer. but the effect of cognitive innovativeness on purchase intention and price sensitivity on purchase intention was much stronger for female than for male consumer.
Hydrothermal energy potential near the three major metropolitan cities in Korea
Sehyeon Ham,Mungi An,Hyunjun Jung,Chang Yong Park,윤린 대한기계학회 2022 JOURNAL OF MECHANICAL SCIENCE AND TECHNOLOGY Vol.36 No.2
The potential for hydrothermal energy of the river, raw water, and reservoir water, which were located near the three major metropolitan cities in Korea, was predicted. The natural energy potential was defined by the flow rate of each water source, utilizing the temperature difference of 5 °C. Exceptionally, the amount of flow for the reservoir water was assumed to be 1 % of the dam’s storage amount for month. The technical potential for the hydrothermal energy for each water source was calculated by simulation of the whole water-source heat pump system through TRNSYS. The hydrothermal energy potential of the Han River in Seoul, Nakdong River in Busan, and Gapcheon in Daejeon are (227678, 247360, and 14600) TJ/year, respectively. In estimating the technical potential for the Han river, the average COP for the river-water heat pump system is 4.40 for cooling and 3.11 for heating, with a monthly maximum COP of 5.79, and a minimum COP of 3.01. One of the raw water pipelines in Seoul is connected in the form of the Gangbuk water purification plant-Gangbuk water intake plant. The technical hydrothermal energy potential is 5682 TJ/year. For Paldang Dam, the average COP for the reservoir water heat pump system is 3.28 for heating, and 4.26 for cooling, while the technical potential is 595 TJ/year.

Background: Pancreatic cystic lesions (PCLs) are occasionally found in solid organ transplant (SOT) recipients. In such recipients, the risk of cancer is increased due to immunosuppressive therapy. This study investigated the prevalence of PCLs and described their clinical course in immunosuppressed patients following SOT. Methods: The presence of PCLs in a retrospective cohort of 805 consecutive SOT recipients from 2009 to 2019 was examined. The characteristics of PCLs were compared using initial and follow-up imaging, where available. These results were compared to an age- and sex-matched immunocompetent control group monitored for at least 12 months. Results: PCLs were present in 15 of 805 SOT patients (seven liver and eight kidney transplantations). The median diameter of the largest lesion was 20 mm (range, 0.2–60 mm) and 60% of lesions were benign. During follow-up imaging, the cyst size remained stable in 46.7%, increased in 13.3%, and decreased in 40.0% of the SOT group. Significantly more of the SOT patients showed PCL size reductions (P=0.007). Among SOT patients diagnosed with intraductal papillary mucinous neoplasms (6/15), worrisome features were noted in one patient at the time of cyst diagnosis. Differences in the development of worrisome features between the study and control groups were not statistically significant. Conclusions: The malignant transformation of PCLs in SOT recipients is rare and most such PCLs can be managed conservatively. The presence of a PCL should therefore not affect transplant eligibility.
Parametric study on an abuse simulation model for thermal runaway of Li-Ion Batteries
Sehyeon Park(박세현),Seongjoon Cho(조성준),Kisoo Yoo(유기수) 한국자동차공학회 2022 한국자동차공학회 학술대회 및 전시회 Vol.2022 No.11
Despite the superior characteristics of the lithium-ion battery, such as high energy density and good cycling ability, it has cons with a specific conditions. If the battery is exposed to high temperature, falsely set voltage, and deformation, it can explode, which we call thermal runaway(TR). TR is caused fundamentally by the elevated temperature of the battery, and its heat sources are varied by the components of the battery. Each component such as positive material, or negative material, can be exothermically decomposed. Therefore, if we want to model battery abuse, it’s essential to analyze what parameters dominate the batterys total thermal behavior. P. Peng et al. [P. Peng, F. Jiang / International Journal of Heat and Mass Transfer 103 (2016) 1008-1016] describe the numerical method of measuring those parameters of each positive electrode, but it does not always match with real life. This paper features the abuse term’s parametric study, followed by an experimental comparison.
