The objective of this article is to carry on the comparative study of the two books, Dongyisusebowon and Myungsunrok. Je-Ma Lee showed, in fact, the intellectual achievement in his book, Dongyisusebowon. And Lee showed more close relationships with Suk-Ji Han's idea. The common ideas from this comparative study of both scholars are as follows. 1. Lee understands the real character of human being according to Chu-Ztu(朱子)'s doctrine, with the supplement of Han's. 2. Lee explains the Sung-Jung(性情) in Cosmology and the theory of Human Nature, but he concentrates upon the Sung-Jung in the theory of Human Nature, especially in constitutional medicine. 3. Lee states the Tai-Geuk(太極) in the meaning of heart from the medical viewpoint, he agrees with the Han's idea. 4. I try to comprehend Myungsunrok in the Wang-Yang-Ming(王陽明)'s concept. 5. Han explains that Sung-Jung-I-Ki(性情理氣) is one concept with two aspects, Che-Yong(體用). In addition, Lee has formed his 'Chun-In-Sung-Myung(天人性命)' thought in harmonization with Han's idea and Chu-Tzu's idea.

To construct transfurmed Bm5 cells, Autographa californica nuclear polyhedrosis virus(AcNPV) IE1 gene, an immediate early viral gene was firstly used in this study. AcNPV IE1 gene, which shares on 95.3% nucleotide sequence homology with Bombyx mori nuclear polyhedrosis virus (BmNPV) IE1 gene, was isolated and cloned into pBluescript. Neomycin gene from pKO-neo was inserted under the control of the IE1 promoter to yield pAcIE1-neo. The plasmid pAcIE1-neo was transfected into Bm5 or Sf9 cells, and neomycin-resistant cells were selected in TC100 medium containing 10% fetal bovine serum (FBS) and 1 mg/ml G4l8 for two weeks. Individual clones were picked and each was amplified for further characterization. The genomic DNA from neomycin-resistant cells was isolated and characterized by PCR using AcNPV IEI gene-specific primers and by Southern blot analysis using neomycin gene probe. We concluded that AcNPV IE1 gene was functional in B. mori-derived Bm5 cells as well as Spodoptera fugjprrda-derived Sf9 cells to produce stably-transformed insect cells
Kinetic Analysis of CpG-Induced Mouse B Cell Growth and Ig Production

Immune cells express toll-like receptors (TLRs) and respond to molecular patterns of various pathogens. CpG motif in bacterial DNA activates innate and acquired immune systems through binding to TLR9 of immune cells. Several studies reported that CpG can directly regulate B cell activation, differentiation, and Ig production. However, the role of CpG in B cell growth and Ig production is not fully understood. In this study, we analyzed the effect of CpG on the kinetics of mouse B cell viability, proliferation, and Igs production. Overall, CpG enhanced mouse B cell growth and production of Igs in a dose-dependent manner. Unlike LPS, 100 nM CpG (high dose) did not support TGF-${\beta}1$-induced IgA and IgG2b production. Moreover, 100 nM CpG treatment abrogated either LPS-induced IgM or LPS/TGF-${\beta}1$-induced IgA and IgG2b production, although B cell growth was enhanced by CpG under the same culture conditions. We subsequently found that 10 nM CpG (low dose) is sufficient for B cell growth. Again, 10 nM CpG did not support TGF-${\beta}1$-induced IgA production but, interestingly enough, supported RA-induced IgA production. Further, 10 nM CpG, unlike 100 nM, neither abrogated the LPS/TGF-${\beta}1$- nor the LPS/RA-induced IgA production. Taken together, these results suggest that dose of CpG is critical in B cell growth and Igs production and the optimal dose of CpG cooperates with LPS in B cell activation and differentiation toward Igs production.
Comparison of Developmental Competence of Oocytes Aspirated from in Hanwoo Native Cows

The aim of the present study was investigated to determine optimal culture condition for IVP embryos using oocytes derived from follicles of ovum pick-up (OPU). Follicular oocytes were aspirated from Hanwoo native cows by the OPU method. After follicular aspiration, the number and morphology of cumulus-oocytes complexes (COCs) and the developmental competence of oocytes after in vitro maturation (IVM), in vitro fertilization (IVF) and in vitro culture were evaluated. The quality of aspirated COCs did not differ among the individual donor. The rates of oocytes recovery from the follicles by ultasound-guided aspiration were not significantly different among individual, but the rate of oocytes useful for IVF was significantly higher (p<0.05) in cows (67%) than heifers (45%) The cleavage and the developmental rate to blastocysts was not significantly different between CR1aa and IVMD medium. In conclusion, the culture medium did not have any apparent effects on the quality of aspirated COCs and developmental competence of oocytes after IVM-IVF, but it may affect follicular recruitment in non-pregnant cows. Moreover, the reproductive phase may influence the developmental competence of the recovered oocytes.
Efficacy of gastro-retentive forms of ecabet sodium in the treatment of gastric ulcer in rats

The purpose of the present study is to investigate the influence of gastric retention of ecabet sodium (ECS) on its mucoprotective effect in rat ulcer models. Mini-tablets containing 9 mg ECS were prepared using the direct compression method. The release rates of ECS mini-tablets were controlled by the amount and viscosity grade of hydroxypropylmethyl cellulose incorporated. Gastric retention of ECS mini-tablets after oral administration to rats was visually confirmed using a fluorescence imaging system. Because ECS mini-tablets exhibited size-dependent gastric retention, their gastric retention time was prolonged as the release rate decreased. In the in vivo efficacy study, gastro-retentive dosage forms of ECS did not influence the mucoprotective effect in the immediate irritation model but enhanced the effect in the delayed irritation model compared with ECS suspension. This finding indicates that the duration of the mucoprotective effect of ECS can be extended by the employment of gastro-retentive dosage formulations and provides a rationale for development of ECS gastro-retentive dosage forms.
Highly Reproducible Thermocontrolled Electrospun Fiber Based Organic Photovoltaic Devices

<P>In this work, we examined the reasons underlying the humidity-induced morphological changes of electrospun fibers and suggest a method of controlling the electrospun fiber morphology under high humidity conditions. We fabricated OPV devices composed of electrospun fibers, and the performance of the OPV devices depends significantly on the fiber morphology. The evaporation rate of a solvent at various relative humidity was measured to investigate the effects of the relative humidity during electrospinning process. The beaded nanofiber morphology of electrospun fibers was originated due to slow solvent evaporation rate under high humidity conditions. To increase the evaporation rate under high humidity conditions, warm air was applied to the electrospinning system. The beads that would have formed on the electrospun fibers were completely avoided, and the power conversion efficiencies of OPV devices fabricated under high humidity conditions could be restored. Evaluation of Bone-union Efficiency of collagen coated Peek Using beagle dog

Spinal fusion is a surgical procedure that reduce patient pain by relieving nerve compression due to disc degeneration. This procedure restores the disk height of the lowered intervertebral disc due to degeneration and fixes the movement of the vertebral segments in the lesion by inserting an implant in the spinal segment of the patient. However, there is a side effect that the patient’s postoperative recovery rate is slow and the movement of the lesion segment is not fixed effectively because of the delayed union between the inserted intervertebral body and the vertebra. In order to improve these problems, Jeil Medical Co, Ltd developed a product that coated the surface of PEEK with collagen and Osong Medical Innovation Foundation Laboratory Animal Center (KBIO-LAC) applied it to the tibia of beagle to evaluate its effectiveness. At 5 and 10 weeks after transplantation the tibia bone was removed and micro-CT and histology analysis were performed. Results of micro-CT analysis showed the BMD and bone volume of liquid collagen coated PEEK implants area were higher than those of other implants area at 5 and 10 weeks. Histological analysis of bone stained with Villanueva showed that the distribution of bone formation was greater in the periphery of the HA-blasting PEEK than in the periphery of the bare PEEK at 4 weeks of transplantation, and the density of the peripheral bone tissue of the HA-blasting PEEK at 8 weeks was higher than that of the bare PEEK. As a result, the effectiveness of HA blasting PEEK was confirmed, and it was found that the peripheral bone tissue was formed relatively better than bare PEEK.
