      • Resistance mechanism of Leptochloa chinensis Nees to propanil

Sahid, Ismail B.,Karso, Juliana,Chuah, Tse-Seng The Korean Society of Weed Science and The Turfgra 2011 Weed Biology and Management Vol.11 No.2

The resistance mechanism of Leptochloa chinensis Nees to propanil was investigated, based on propanil metabolism, aryl acylamidase activity, and chlorophyll fluorescence at the 8 week growth stage of L. chinensis. The concentration of propanil in the leaf and culm extracts of the resistant (R) and susceptible (S) biotypes, as measured by gas chromatography (GC), was found to increase after propanil treatment. The concentration of propanil in the leaf and culm extracts of the S biotype at 72 h was 1.55 and 0.49 ${\mu}g\;mL^{-1}$, respectively. However, a lower concentration of propanil was observed in the R biotype, as compared to that in the S biotype. The residue of 3,4-dichloroaniline, as measured by GC, was detected only in the leaf extracts of the R biotype. In contrast, no residue of 3,4-dichloroaniline was observed in the S biotype. The level of aryl acylamidase in the leaf tissue extracts of the R biotype was ~140% higher than that in the S biotype. The fluorescence studies showed that propanil inhibited the quantum efficiency of the photosystem II in both the R and S biotypes after 2 h of incubation time. However, when the leaf disks were transferred and incubated in deionized water for 48 h, the quantum efficiency increased in the R biotype but decreased in the S biotype. These results suggest that propanil metabolism, enhanced by aryl acylamidase activity, is the most likely factor contributing towards the mechanism of propanil resistance in L. chinensis plants at the 8 week growth stage.

Cross-Linked Poly(cyclotriphosphazene-co-phloretin) Microspheres and Their Application for Controlled Drug Delivery

        Sahid Mehmood,Haojie Yu,Li Wang,Md Alim Uddin,Bilal Ul Amin,Fazal Haq,Shah Fahad,Muhammad Haroon 한국고분자학회 2022 Macromolecular Research Vol.30 No.9

In this work, cross-linked poly(cyclotriphosphazene-co-phloretin) (PCTPPT) microspheres were synthesized and characterized by Fourier transform infrared (FT-IR) spectroscopy and scanning electron microscope (SEM). In FT-IR spectra, the new appeared bands at 1009 cm-1 and 1132 cm-1 confirmed the successful polymerization between hexachlorocyclotriphosphazene (HCCP) and phloretin (Pht). While the SEM results showed that the size of the microspheres was strongly dependent on the HCCP:Pht mole ratio. The crystalline nature of the PCTPPT microspheres was checked by X-ray diffraction (XRD) and provided evidence for the successful preparation of the microspheres. The thermal stability of the PCTPPT microspheres was investigated by thermogravimetric analysis (TGA). The obtained TGA results showed that the increase in thermal stability was attributed to the highly cross-linked covalently bonded structure of PCTPPT microspheres. The particle size distribution was determined by dynamic light scattering (DLS) and the results showed that the decreased HCCP:Pht mole ratio increases the size of the microspheres. The PCTPPT-3 microspheres were used as drug carriers for a model drug camptothecin (CPT). The experimental findings showed a cumulative release of 41.0% in pH 4.0 and 32.6% in pH 7.4 after 350 h and the PCTPPT-3/CPT microspheres have good drug loading capability and controlled release property for CPT.

Winner-Loser Effect: Empirical Evidence from Pakistan

Muhammad Sahid RASHEED,Muhammad Fayyaz SHEIKH,Jahanzaib SULTAN,Qamar ALI,Aamir Inam BHUTTA 한국유통과학회 2021 The Journal of Asian Finance, Economics and Busine Vol.8 No.10

The study examines the behavior of stock prices after large price changes. It further examines the effect of firm size on stock returns, and the presence of the disposition effect. The study employs the event study methodology using daily price data from Pakistan Stock Exchange (PSX) for the period January 2001 to July 2012. Furthermore, to examine the factors that explain stock price behavior after large price movements, the study employs a two-way fixed-effect model that allows for the analysis of unobservable company and time fixed effects that explain market reversals or continuation. The findings suggest that winners perform better than losers after experiencing large price shocks thus showing a momentum behavior. In addition, the winners remain the winner, while the losers continue to lose more. This suggests that most of the investors in PSX behave rationally. Further, the study finds no evidence of disposition effect in PSX. The investors underreact to new information and the prices continue to move in the direction of initial change. The pooled regression estimates show that firm size is positively related to post-event abnormal returns while the fixed-effect model reveals the presence of unobservable firm-specific and time-specific effects that account for price continuation.

      • JACK OF ALL TRADES, MASTER OF EVERYTHING? COMPETING ROUTES OF CONSUMER RESPONSES TOWARD MULTIPLE PRODUCT CATEGORIES ENDORSEMENT OF FASHION INFLUENCERS

Bayu Aji Aritejo,Widya Paramita,Sahid Susilo Nugroho 글로벌지식마케팅경영학회 2023 Global Marketing Conference Vol.2023 No.07

Although influencers establish their reputation and gain popularity by demonstrating expertise toward a specific topic, there is a huge potential to extend their market by tapping into different topics. Specifically, by promoting different types of product categories. However, previous studies tend to have different predictions about the success of this practice. Such that, according to the match-up hypothesis, it is unlikely that the influencer can successfully promote different product categories. On the other hand, Stereotype Content Model (SCM) suggests that influencers might be perceived as competence that overgeneralized to other domains. By conducting a survey to 302 online consumers in Indonesia, this study aims to test two competing routes toward influencer’s success in promoting product categories other than their initial expertise within the fashion context. The findings of this study revealed the primacy of match-up hypotheses, even when the influencers are perceived as competent, it does not mean that consumers are willing to follow their recommendation if it is outside their expertise domain. Only when there is an influencer-product fit, consumers are willing to accept their recommendation. However, perceived competence of the influencers can promote acceptance to follow recommendation on different product categories only when it established trust on the influencer.
