The Interplay between Comprehensive Use of Performance Management Systems and Corporate Financial and Non-Financial Performance: Evidence from Saudi Arabia

Ahmed Abdullah Saad AL-DHUBAIBI(Ahmed Abdullah Saad AL-DHUBAIBI ) 한국유통과학회 2023 The Journal of Asian Finance, Economics and Busine Vol.10 No.1

A significant body of prior research on performance management systems (PMSs) either explains the components and the design of the systems or investigates the link between particular system/s and organizational functions, capabilities, or performance. In contrast, this study investigates the comprehensive use of PMSs and relates them to corporate financial and non-financial performance. Further, this study examines whether the association between PMSs and performance varies between industries or is moderated by the size of the company. Data was collected using a questionnaire that was sent to companies from different industries operating in Riyadh province, where the most important businesses in Saudi Arabia are located. A total of 152 usable responses were received. The results of this study revealed that companies use a variety of PMSs at a balanced level. The extent of each category of PMS use is associated with the extent of other PMS categories’ use. However, the larger the company, the more PMSs it uses. Importantly, the results showed a positive and significant association between PMSs’ extent of use and both financial and non-financial performance. This association was minimally moderated by the company size and industry for specific categories of PMSs and performance.

Voltage compensation using sequence component detection technique under sag, swell, and distorted conditions of grid voltages

        Saad F. Al-Gahtani 전력전자학회 2022 JOURNAL OF POWER ELECTRONICS Vol.22 No.3

The use of certain electrical equipment connected to conventional power systems has raised concerns regarding the quality of the power system. Some equipment has been perceived to be unequipped to sustain the surges, faults, and distortions in traditional distribution systems. Common voltage issues exist, such as imbalance, harmonic distortion, sag, and swell. Such issues are usually contained using a dynamic voltage restorer (DVR). In this study, the determination of voltage references for DVR based on a robust and simple detection method of positive and negative sequence components is analyzed. This method detects the components in real time. With the proposed method, either the reference load voltages can be generated, or the reference DVR voltages can be generated, depending on which voltages are controlled. Moreover, contrary to other methods, the proposed technique avoids the use of phase-locked loop (PLL) and vector transformation. The voltage compensation technique controls the DVR in real time to prevent steady-state and disturbance conditions at the load side. The proposed system is evaluated by simulation and experimentation under several steady-state and transient cases. Finally, the proposed control is compared with common control methods.

      • Effect of porosity on the free vibration analysis of various functionally graded sandwich plates

        Saad, Mohamed,Hadji, Lazreg,Tounsi, Abdelouahed Techno-Press 2021 Advances in materials research Vol.10 No.4

In this paper, a simple refined shear deformation theory which eliminates the use of a shear correction factor was presented for free vibration analysis of FG sandwich plates composed of FG porous face sheets and an isotropic homogeneous core. Unlike any other theory, the number of unknown functions involved is only four, as against five in case of other shear deformation theories. Material properties of FGM layers are assumed to vary continuously across the plate thickness according to either power-law function in terms of the volume fractions of the constituents. The face layers are considered to be FG porous across each face thickness while the core is made of a ceramic homogeneous layer. Four models of porosity distribution are proposed. Governing equations and boundary conditions are derived from Hamilton's principle. Analytical solutions were obtained for free vibration analysis of square sandwich plates with FG porous layers under various boundary conditions. Numerical results are presented to show the effect of the porosity volume fraction, type of porosity distribution model, side to thickness ratio, lay-up scheme, and boundary conditions on the free vibration of FG sandwich plates. The validity of the present theory is investigated by comparing some of the present results with other published results.

Role of Alloying Composition on Mechanical Properties of CuZr Metallic Glasses During the Nanoindentation Process

        Saade Abdalkareem Jasim,Muneam Hussein Ali,Zaid Hameed Mahmood,Mohammad Rudiansyah,Forat H. Alsultany,Yasser Fakri Mustafa,Montather F. Ramadan,Aravindhan Surendar 대한금속·재료학회 2022 METALS AND MATERIALS International Vol.28 No.9

This paper aims to indicate the role of alloying composition on the nanomechanical properties of metallic glasses (MGs). Forthis purpose, the molecular dynamics simulation of nanoindentation process was performed for a wide range of Cu–Zr glassycompositions. The results indicated that the yielding event enhanced with the rise of Cu content; however, there existed anoptimized composition for the maximum hardening effect in the system. The investigation on the evolution of shear bandsalso showed that the formation of pile-ups around the indentation site and the propagation of dominant shear bands into theglassy structure occurred in the Cu-rich MGs. On the other side, the increase in Zr content led to the creation of a net-likeshear arrangement under the indented site. Moreover, the Voronoi tessellation analysis indicated that the decreasing/increasingrate of polyhedron types during the indenting process strongly relied on the alloying compositions.

They are categorized in terms of a differentiated appearance under a microscope. Non-small-cell lung cancer tumors are categorized into three main subgroups: adenocarcinoma, squamous cell carcinoma, and large cell carcinoma. In approximately 20% of pathology reports, they are returned unclassified or classified as not-otherwise-specified (NOS) owing to scant materials or poor tumor differentiation.

Method

We present a radiomic interrogation of molecular spatial variations to decode unclassified NOS tumor architecture quantitatively. Twelve spatial descriptors with various displacements and directions were extracted and profiled with respect to the subgroups. The profiled descriptors were used to decipher the NOS tumor morphologic clues from the imaging phenotype perspective. Improved Flux and Torque Estimators of a Direct Torque Controlled Interior PM Machine with Compensations for Dead-time Effects and Forward Voltage Drops

        Saad Sayeef,M. F. Rahman 전력전자학회 2009 JOURNAL OF POWER ELECTRONICS Vol.9 No.3

The performance of direct torque controlled (DTC) interior permanent magnet (IPM) machines is poor at low speeds due to a few reasons, namely limited accuracy of stator voltage acquisition and the presence of offset and drift components in the acquired signals. Due to factors such as forward voltage drop across switching devices in the three phase inverter and dead-time of the devices, the voltage across the machine terminals differ from the reference voltage vector used to estimate stator flux and electromagnetic torque. This can lead to instability of the IPM drive during low speed operation. Compensation schemes for forward voltage drops and dead-time are proposed and implemented in real-time control, resulting in improved performance of the space vector modulated DTC IPM drive, especially at low speeds. No additional hardware is required for these compensators.

      • Parallel Architecture of Concurrent ESP Engines for High-speed IPSec Routers

        Saad Arslan,Hayotjan Aliev,HyungWon Kim 대한전자공학회 2018 대한전자공학회 학술대회 Vol.2018 No.11

Most encryption algorithms used in IPSec ESP have block dependance that restricts the encryption of incoming packet blocks in a pipeline fashion. To overcome this, the use of multiple ESP engines is employed in this paper. Thus, multiple packets are processed and encrypted in parallel. Also, the implemented IPSec engine incorporates a CAM based search engine as Security Association Database (SAD). The search engine provides three interfaces for searching, updating and creating entries. The design is verified using simulations and FPGA implementation at 100 MHz clock. Using four ESP engines, a throughput of 3.12 Gpbs is obtained. The measurements show almost linear increase in throughput with the increase in number of ESP blocks.

      • US-China Strategic Competition: Implications for International Order

Saad Bin Zaffar Sraw,Mir Sher Baz Khetran 아시아사회과학학회 2021 Jornal of Asia Social Science Vol.4 No.2

The paper attempts to identify the key areas where a strategic competition is being played out between US and China and its possible implications for overall regional and global order. It includes a broad based probe into the nuances of ramifications that this fundamental competition, which some chose to name as conflict, shall entail. Not only will it have political consequences, but will help change the overall strategic complexion and economic superstructure of the world besides altering the rules based international order beyond recognition. It is one of the most important and significant geo-strategic, geo-political and geo-economic moment of the century and we all stand at the cusp of a massive change for which we are neither ready nor prepared. The objective of the study is to investigate nature of the competition, changes it has brought to the threat spectrum, articulation of possible responses by states involved in it and ways in which it will transform the world that we see today.

Controllable Biogenic Synthesis of Intracellular Silver/Silver Chloride Nanoparticles by Meyerozyma guilliermondii KX008616

        ( Saad A. M. Alamri ),( Mohamed Hashem ),( Nivien A. Nafady ),( Mahmoud A. Sayed ),( Ali M. Alshehri ),( Gamal A. El-shaboury ) 한국미생물생명공학회(구 한국산업미생물학회) 2018 Journal of microbiology and biotechnology Vol.28 No.6

Intracellular synthesis of silver/silver chloride nanoparticles (Ag/AgCl-NPs) using Meyerozyma guilliermondii KX008616 is reported under aerobic and anaerobic conditions for the first time. The biogenic synthesis of Ag-NP types has been proposed as an easy and cost-effective alternative for various biomedical applications. The interaction of nanoparticles with ethanol production was mentioned. The purified biogenic Ag/AgCl-nanoparticles were characterized by different spectroscopic and microscopic approaches. The purified nanoparticles exhibited a surface plasmon resonance band at 419 and 415 nm, confirming the formation of Ag/AgCl-NPs under aerobic and anaerobic conditions, respectively. The planes of the cubic crystalline phase of the Ag/AgCl-NPs were confirmed by X-ray diffraction. Fourier-transform infrared spectra showed the interactions between the yeast cell constituents and silver ions to form the biogenic Ag/AgCl-NPs. The intracellular Ag/AgCl-NPs synthesized under aerobic condition were homogenous and spherical in shape, with an approximate particle size of 2.5-30nm as denoted by the transmission electron microscopy (TEM). The reaction mixture was optimized by varying reaction parameters, including temperature and pH. Analysis of ultrathin sections of yeast cells by TEM indicated that the biogenic nanoparticles were formed as clusters, known as nanoaggregates, in the cytoplasm or in the inner and outer regions of the cell wall. The study recommends using the biomass of yeast that is used in industrial or fermentation purposes to produce Ag/AgCl-NPs as associated by-products to maximize benefit and to reduce the production cost.
