Reactions of Some Furan-3-ones with 2,3-Diaminopyridine and its Derivatives
Mustafa Saçmac,Hilal Bölükba,Ertan ahin 대한화학회 2012 Bulletin of the Korean Chemical Society Vol.33 No.1
The furan-2-ylidene acetates (3a-d), obtained from the furan-2,3-diones (1a-b) and methyl/ethyl (triphenylphosphoranylidene)-acetates (2a-b), were converted via the Michael type reactions with 2,3-diaminopyridine and its derivatives (4a-c) into the corresponding pyrrol-2-ylidene-acetates (5a-j) in moderate yields (45-94%). Structures of these compounds were determined by the IR, NMR, elemental analysis, and X-ray diffraction method.

P-type CIGS (CuIn1-xGaxSe2) thin films are electro-deposited on a p-type c-Si substrate with a galvanostatic mode to form CIGS(p)/c-Si(p) hetero-junction. The Ga content is varied up to x=30%. The physical properties of formed CIGS films are characterized by XRD, SEM, EDS and UV–Visible spectroscopy. With x=30%, we obtain a single chalcopyrite phase of CIGS with a tetragonal crystal structure, a high crystallinity, an orientation toward the (112) direction and a band gap energy of 1.40 eV. AM1.5 J-V performed on the CuI0.7G0.3Se2/c-Si hetero-junction reveals interesting photovoltaic parameters with an efficiency of 3.75%. In addition, using the energy diagram of the hetero-junction calculated with the Anderson model, we show that it could play a dual role when combined to a c-Si cell in a Ag–Al/c-Si(n+)/c-Si (p)/CIGS(p)/Al new architecture. Therefore, in addition to its interesting photovoltaic parameters, this heterojunction can substitute the BSF.
Tourism and sustainable development goal-5: A pathway for women’s empowerment
Bipithalal Balakrishnan Nair,Saúl Serna Segura 한국관광연구학회 2021 관광연구저널 Vol.35 No.4
This paper explores the role of tourism in women’s empowerment through the framework of Sustainable Development Goal 5 (SDG 5). The targets and criteria of SDG 5 were used as a gap analysis tool to understand the status of accomplishment of women’s enablement by taking the Kumarakom tourism model as an example. Both primary and secondary data were incorporated in this study. Thirteen semi-structured interviews and sixteen field visits were conducted. Secondary data used were government documents, online resources, and newspaper articles. Leximancer software was used to analyze the data collected. The findings offer evidence indicating that tourism in Kumarakom enriched the economic, socio-cultural, and psychological status of womenfolk in the region. This has been attained through grassroots level planning and initiatives such as women’s self-help groups. The results suggest that the Kumarakom tourism model contributed to and attained many of the criteria and targets provided by the United Nations guidelines of SDG 5. At the same time, this study identified room for improvement. Also, we argue that the criteria like SDG 5.1 need to be revised considering the broader cultural framework for land ownership and related practices. This study addressed a relevant yet unaddressed issue of women’s empowerment through tourism and issues of the measurement framework of SDG 5.

Background The effect of liposuction on the perforators of the lower abdominal wall has been investigated in several studies. There are controversial results in the literature that have primarily demonstrated the number and patency of the perforators. The aim of this study was to determine the effect of liposuction on the perfusion of perforator-based abdominal flaps using a combined laser–Doppler spectrophotometer (O2C, Oxygen to See, LEA Medizintechnik). Methods Nine female patients undergoing classical abdominoplasty were included in the study. Perforators and the perfusion zones of the deep inferior epigastric artery flap were marked on the patient’s abdominal wall. Flap perfusion was quantitatively assessed by measuring blood flow, velocity, capillary oxygen saturation, and relative amount of hemoglobin for each zone preoperatively, after tumescent solution infiltration, following elevation of the flap on a single perforator, and after deep and superficial liposuction, respectively. Results The measurements taken after elevation of the flap were not significantly different than measurements taken after the liposuction procedures. Conclusions The liposuction procedure does not significantly alter the perfusion of perforatorbased abdominal flaps in the early period. The abdominal tissue discarded in a classic abdominoplasty operation can be raised as a perforator flap and has been demonstrated to be a unique model for clinical research.

Background/Aims: No clear data have been established and validated regarding whether rectal retroflexion has an important and therapeutic impact. The aim of the present study was to evaluate the diagnostic yield and therapeutic impact of rectal retroflexion compared with straight view examination. Methods: A prospective single-blind study was conducted. Consecutive patients evaluated between October 2011 and April 2012 were included. Results: A total of 934 patients (542 women [58%]) were included. The mean age was 57.4±14.8 years. Retroflexion was successful in 917 patients (98.2%). Distinct lesions in the anorectal area were detected in 32 patients (3.4%), of which 10 (1%) were identified only on retroflex view and 22 (2.4%) on both straight and retroflex views. Of the 32 identified lesions, 16 (50%) were polyps, nine (28.1%) were angiodysplasias, six (18.8%) were ulcers, and one (3.1%) was a flat lesion. All 10 patients (1%) in whom lesions were detected only by rectal retroflexion showed a therapeutic impact. Conclusions: Rectal retroflexion has minimal diagnostic yield and therapeutic impact. However, its low rate of major complications and the possibility of detecting lesions undetectable by straight viewing justify its use.

The CYP2B6 enzyme is involved in the metabolism of environmental toxins and endogenous compounds. The expression and activity of the cyp2b6 gene is important for the brain’s ability to detoxify harmful compounds. In rats, the Cyp2b1 gene is homologous to the human Cyp2b6 gene and has an isoform, Cyp2b2, with nearly the same sequence. Although the distinction between them is fundamental, most studies report global changes in CYP2B enzymes due to the complexity of the techniques to detect both genes separately. We instrumented a semi-quantitative technique combining multiplex end point RT-PCR with restriction enzyme assays, allowing us to establish a relatively simple, reproducible and affordable method to distinguish Cyp2b1 gene expression from Cyp2b2. Using this technique, we showed differential Cyp2b1 expression after phenobarbital and ethanol induction in the brain and liver and detected increased Cyp2b1 expression after ethanol treatment in the brain striatum that had not been detected before.

The demands for robotic and automatic system are continually increasing in manufacturing fields. There have been many studies to monitor and predict the system, but they have mainly focused upon measuring cutting force, and current of motor spindle, and upon using acoustic sensor, etc. In this study, time series sequence of cutting force was acquired by taking advantage of piezoelectric type tool dynamometer. Radial cutting force was obtained from it and was available for useful observation data. The parameter was estimated using PAA (parameter adaptation algorithm) from observation data. ARMA(auto regressive moving average) model was selected for system model and second order was decided according to parameter estimation. Uncorrelation test was also carried out to verify convergence of parameter.
