Current status of robotic surgery for pancreatic tumors
Sung Ryol Lee,Jaewoo Kwon,Jun Ho Shin 소화기인터벤션의학회 2022 International journal of gastrointestinal interven Vol.11 No.2
Robotic pancreatectomy, which has received attention in recent years, is subdivided into robotic distal pancreatectomy and robotic pancreatoduodenectomy. Benign and borderline malignant pancreatic tumors can be treated with robotic pancreatectomy, which has several advantages inherent to robotic surgery. The indications for robotic pancreatectomy are similar to those of laparoscopic pancreatectomy, and there are no absolute contraindications. The perioperative outcomes of robotic pancreatectomy are comparable to those of open or laparoscopic pancreatectomy. A high spleen preservation rate, low intraoperative blood loss, and a low open conversion rate are advantages of robotic pancreatectomy. Although robotic pancreatectomy is possible for the treatment of pancreatic cancer, appropriate case selection is required, and more research is needed.
The Mystery of the Duel : Feraud’s Obsession
Sung-Ryol Kim 신영어영문학회 2008 신영어영문학 Vol.40 No.-
“The Duel,” a much neglected story in Conrad’s corpus, deserves more attention than it has received so far from critics, for the relationship between the two main characters illustrates the mimetic nature of desire theorized by Rene Girard. This profound metaphysical desire rooted in mimesis, the key to the mystery of the quarrel, serves to explain the ferocity and relentlessness with which Feraud as the subject pursues his mediator, D’Hubert. Although D’Hubert achieves a partial insight into Feraud’s role as a rival who functions to intensify his own desire for life, he fails to effect a true conversion in which his relation to Feraud is transcended. Unique among Conrad’s works, the double relationship in the story is not weighted with the moral-ethical or political, for it is used by Conrad to explore an extreme yet symptomatic aspect of the human condition.

The Mythological Context of Conrad’s “Falk”
Sung-Ryol Kim 신영어영문학회 2009 신영어영문학 Vol.44 No.-
This paper explores the mythological context of Conrad’s “Falk” by extending Donald Kehler’s brief summary remarks on the subject. It seeks to discuss more fully the significance of the mythic nature of the characters of Falk and Hermann’s niece as this mythological context helps to explain the detached handling of cannibalism and its moral consequences and serves as an exploration of the primary foundation of culture. The parallels between Hermann’s niece and Diana are first outlined. Then the Falk-Virbius connection is clarified. In conclusion, the appropriateness of the myth of Diana to the themes of the short story is explained.
