        Self‑assembled graphene quantum dots‑Co3O4 nanocomposite for highly efficient oxygen evolution reaction electrocatalyst

        A novel kind of self-assembled graphene quantum dots-Co3O4 (GQDs-Co3O4) nanocomposite was successfully manufactured through a hydrothermal approach and used as an extremely effectual oxygen evolution reaction (OER) electrocatalyst. The characterization of morphology with scanning electron microscopy (SEM) and transmission electron microscopy (TEM) showed that Co3O4 nanosheets combined with graphene quantum dots (GQDs) had a new type of hexagonal lamellar selfassembly structure. The GQDs-Co3O4 electrocatalyst showed enhanced electrochemical catalytic properties in an alkaline solution. The start potential of the OER was 0.543 V (vs SCE) in 1 M KOH solution, and 0.577 V (vs SCE) in 0.1 M KOH solution correspondingly. The current density of 10 mA cm? 2 had been attained at the overpotential of 321 mV in 1 M KOH solution and 450 mV in 0.1 M KOH solution. Furthermore, the current density can reach 171 mA cm? 2 in 1 M KOH solution and 21.4 mA cm? 2 in 0.1 M KOH solution at 0.8 V. Moreover, the GQDs-Co3O4 nanocomposite also maintained an ideal constancy in an alkaline solution with only a small deterioration of the activity (7%) compared with the original value after repeating potential cycling for 1000 cycles.

        Is Mythimna turca (Lepidoptera: Noctuidae) a migrant?

        The double line moth, Mythimna turca (Linnaeus, 1761) (Lepidoptera: Noctuidae), is an important widely distributed insect species. Studies on the moth in European countries have focused on population monitoring and in China on taxonomy of Mythimna and distribution surveys of M. turca. However, whether M. turca is a migratory insect is unknown. Here, migration of the moth population was monitored using a searchlight trap from 2004 to 2020 on Beihuang island, Northern China, providing direct evidence that M. turca migrates across the Bohai Strait seasonally, in late May to early September. Population dynamics, ovarian development, wind direction and possible migration trajectories were also analyzed. Most moths migrated in June and at the end of August and the beginning of September, and a few migrated in May, July and October. The average duration of this windborne migratory period of M. turca was 93 d. Migratory trajectories demonstrated that M. turca mainly moved northward in spells of southerly winds from June to August and moved southward in spells of northerly winds during September. This new key information about the ecology of M. turca population will aid the formulation of M. turca management strategies.

        Copy number analysis of whole-genome data using BIC-seq2 and its application to detection of cancer susceptibility variants

        <P>Whole-genome sequencing data allow detection of copy number variation (CNV) at high resolution. However, estimation based on read coverage along the genome suffers from bias due to GC content and other factors. Here, we develop an algorithm called BIC-seq2 that combines normalization of the data at the nucleotide level and Bayesian information criterion-based segmentation to detect both somatic and germline CNVs accurately. Analysis of simulation data showed that this method outperforms existing methods. We apply this algorithm to low coverage whole-genome sequencing data from peripheral blood of nearly a thousand patients across eleven cancer types in The Cancer Genome Atlas (TCGA) to identify cancer-predisposing CNV regions. We confirm known regions and discover new ones including those covering <I>KMT2C, GOLPH3, ERBB2</I> and <I>PLAG1</I>. Analysis of colorectal cancer genomes in particular reveals novel recurrent CNVs including deletions at two chromatin-remodeling genes <I>RERE</I> and <I>NPM2</I>. This method will be useful to many researchers interested in profiling CNVs from whole-genome sequencing data.</P>

      • 晚清同名科学翻译与创作小说的互动 -以《世界末日记》与《法螺先生谭》为例

        1902년 량치차오가 ‘小說界革命’을 주창하면서 新小說의 번역과 창작이 대량으로 쏟아져 나왔고, 이 시기에 新小說의 類型도 다양하게 증가하였다. 淸末民初에 유행한 小說類型 중에서 이 시기에 시작된 科學小說은 淸末의 新小說 연구분야에서 빼놓을 수 없는 연구대상이지만, 科學小說의 번역과 창작을 종합적으로 탐구한 연구논저는 그다지 눈에 띄지 않는다. 과학소설 작가의 사상과 시대사조의 교류, 전례 없는 중국사회의 대격 변기 에 外來文化와 科學知識을 수용하는 서구문화의 수용성과 중국 본토화가 바로 과학소설의 번역과 창작 속에 여과 없이 표출되어 있는 것이다. 본 논문은 淸末 梁啓超의 小說界革命에 호응하여 新聞雜誌에 연재된 《世界末日記》와 《法螺先生譚》의 네 가지 텍스트를 연구대상으로 삼아, 이들 譯著者의 飜譯動機와 創作動機의 相互 聯關性, 그리고 淸末科學小說의 飜譯과 創作의 特殊性, 淸末民初文學과 小說의 發展에 대한 의미를 ‘문화다원시스템론(文化多元系統輪)’과 ‘譯讀’이라는 當代의 文化飜譯理論을 통해 解釋해 보았다. Since 1902, when Liang Qichao initiated the movement of “Revolution in the Field of Fiction”,the translation and creation of new novels have been constantly emerging, and the categories of New Novels have also been increasing in this period. As an important genre of fiction in the Late Qing period and the Early Republic of China, science fiction is an indispensable part of the study of New Novels in the Late Qing Dynasty. The relevance and difference in the interaction between the works essentially reflects the confrontation between the author’s thoughts and the Zeitgeist, as well as the acceptance and internalization of foreign cultural and scientific knowledge under the background of social change. Therefore, combining the novel revolution in Late Qing Dynasty and Early Republic of China and the newspaper activities in Late Qing Dynasty, this paper takes these four works as examples to explore the relationship between the creation motivation of translated works, and through the concepts of “multicultural system theory” and “inerpretants” in contemporary cultural translation theory, analyzes the particularity of translation and creation of science novels in Late Qing Dynasty, as well as the significance for the development of literature and novels in Late Qing Dynasty and Early Republic of China.

        Combination of ultrasonic assisted liquid phase exfoliation process and oxidation-deoxidation method to prepare large-sized graphene

        Large-size graphene samples are successfully prepared by combining ultrosonic assisted liquid phase exfoliation process with oxidation-deoxidation method. Different from previous works, we used an ultrasound-treated expanded graphite as the raw material and prepared the graphene via a facile oxidation-reduction reaction. Results of X-ray diffraction and Raman spectroscopy confirm the crystal structure of the as-prepared graphene. Scanning electron microscopy images show that this kind of graphene has a large size (with a diameter over 100 μm), larger than the graphene from graphite powder and flake graphite prepared through single oxidation-deoxidation method. Transmission electron microscopy results also reveal the thin layers of the prepared graphene (number of layers ≤3). Furthermore, the importance of preprocessing the raw materials is also proven. Therefore, this method is an attractive way for preparing graphene with large size.

        Thermal Deformation Compensation of Laser Tracker Relocating in Aircraft Assembly

        During aircraft assembly, measurements from either a single or multiple laser tracker with diff erent positions are transformedto an assembly coordinate system by measuring the enhanced reference system (ERS) points via a rigid-body registrationmethod. The location deviations of the ERS points resulting from thermal deformations have become the major error sourcein registration. To improve the accuracy of measurement, a thermal deformation compensation method, based on precisethermal deformation theory, is proposed in this study. Thermal deformation coeffi cients of ERS points in X-, Y-, and Z-axesare calculated separately, and an iterative algorithm is developed to correct the actual locations of the ERS points andestimate the optimal coordinate transformation parameters. A case study indicated that, with our proposed novel thermaldeformation compensation method, the average registration error is decreased by 9.2–38.7%, and the maximum registrationerror is deceased by 12.3–38.6%.

        Synthesis of N-4-vinylbenzyl-monoaza-m-phenylene-34-crown-11 and Its Copolymerization with Styrene

        A functional monomer, containing a 34-membered monoazacrown ether unit (VACE) as a pendant group has been synthesized by using resorcinol, tetraethylene glycol, p-tolenesulfonyl chloride and 4-vinylbenzyl chloride as starting materials. The product structure was characterized by means of FT-IR, $^1H-NMR$, EA and MS. Free radical homopolymerized VACE or copolymerized VACE with styrene (ST) by the conventional radical initiator 2,2'-azobis (isobutyronitrile) (AIBN) in toluene solution to afford corresponding polymers. The reactivity ratio of VACE and ST, determined by Fineman-Ross method, gave values 0.6 for VACE, and 1.4 for ST, respectively.

        The shaping of cancer genomes with the regional impact of mutation processes

        Mutation signature analysis has been used to infer the contributions of various DNA mutagenic-repair events in individual cancer genomes. Here, we build a statistical framework using a multinomial distribution to assign individual mutations to their cognate mutation signatures. We applied it to 47 million somatic mutations in 1925 publicly available cancer genomes to obtain a mutation signature map at the resolution of individual somatic mutations. Based on mutation signature-level genetic-epigenetic correlative analyses, mutations with transcriptional and replicative strand asymmetries show different enrichment patterns across genomes, and “transcribed” chromatin states and gene boundaries are particularly vulnerable to transcription-coupled repair activities. While causative processes of cancer-driving mutations can be diverse, as shown for converging effects of multiple mutational processes on TP53 mutations, the substantial fraction of recurrently mutated amino acids points to specific mutational processes, e.g., age-related C-to-T transition for KRAS p.G12 mutations. Our investigation of evolutionary trajectories with respect to mutation signatures further revealed that candidate pairs of early- vs. late-operative mutation processes in cancer genomes represent evolutionary dynamics of multiple mutational processes in the shaping of cancer genomes. We also observed that the local mutation clusters of kataegis often include mutations arising from multiple mutational processes, suggestive of a locally synchronous impact of multiple mutational processes on cancer genomes. Taken together, our examination of the genome-wide landscape of mutation signatures at the resolution of individual somatic mutations shows the spatially and temporally distinct mutagenesis-repair-replication histories of various mutational processes and their effects on shaping cancer genomes.

        Improvement of the Beam-Wave Interaction Eciency Based on the Coupling-Slot Configuration in an Extended Interaction Oscillator

        A method aimed at improving the beam-wave interaction eciency by changing the coupling slot configuration has been proposed in the study of extended interaction oscillators (EIOs). The disper- sion characteristics, coupling coecient and interaction impedance of the high-frequency structure based on different types of coupling slots have been investigated. Four types of coupled cavity structures with different layouts of the coupling slots have been compared to improve the beam- wave interaction eciency, so as to analyze the beam-wave interaction and practical applications. In order to determine the improvement of the coupling slot to a coupled cavity circuit in an EIO, we designed four nine-gap EIOs based on the coupled cavity structure with different coupling slot configurations. With different operating frequencies and voltages takes into consideration, beam voltages from 27 to 33 kV have been simulated to achieve the best beam-wave interaction eciency so that the EIOs are able to work in the 2 mode. The in uence of the Rb and the ds on the output power is also taken into consideration. The Rb is the radius of the electron beam, and the ds is the width of the coupling slot. The simulation results indicate that a single-slot-type EIO has the best beam-wave interaction eciency. Its maximum output power is 2.8 kW and the eciency is 18% when the operating voltage is 31 kV and electric current is 0.5 A. The output powers of these four EIOs that were designed for comparison are not less than 1.7 kW. The improved coupling-slot con- gurations enables the extended interaction oscillator to meet the different engineering requirements better.

        Morphology-controllable 3D flower-like TiO2 for UV shielding application

        Calliandra like rutile TiO2 hierarchical microspheres with different diameters were successfully preparedby hydrothermal method via altering reaction time. All these as synthesized unique hierarchicalmicrospheres displayed higher UV shielding capability compared with commercial P25 and anataseTiO2. Noticeably, the UV shielding efficiency of these microspheres had a close relation to their diametersand packing density of constituted nanorods. The S-24h-C sample exhibited the highest UV shieldingefficiency, which could not only block all UV light below 400 nm but also show poor photocatalyticactivity under UV light radiation, indicating its great applied potential in UV-blocking materials.
