The widespread use of communication tools on the Internet has provided greater possibilities as well as increased flexibility for orthographic reforms. As a result, spellings have been established that are closely matched to written speech, which emulate verbal expression plus the elegant addition of letters from foreign languages. This study will look in particular at Evolutionized Malay (EM), which is cultivated on the Internet. Our analysis of EM reveals two principal functions: 1) EM words performed better in 130 Orthographic Reforms of Standard Malay Online displaying pronunciation properties and 2) EM words are able to form an environment we termed as Cross Language Environment (CLE). It may be that these roles hold a greater degree of attraction and motivates toward higher interaction within a cyberspace community. Surveys on the frequency of the occurrence of EM in the cyberspace of Malaysia are shown based on web forums and blogs pages. It is fascinating to see that EM has quite a substantial number of users throughout Malaysian cyberspace.
SciBabel: a system for crowd-sourced validation of automatic translations of scientific texts
Soares, Felipe,Rebechi, Rozane,Stevenson, Mark Korea Genome Organization 2020 Genomics & informatics Vol.18 No.2
Scientific research is mostly published in English, regardless of the researcher's nationality. However, this growing practice impairs or hinders the comprehension of professionals who depend on the results of these studies to provide adequate care for their patients. We suggest that machine translation (MT) can be used as a way of providing useful translation for biomedical articles, even though the translation itself may not be fluent. To tackle possible mistranslation that can harm a patient, we resort to crowd-sourced validation of translations. We developed a prototype of MT validation and edition, where users can vote for that translation as valid, or suggest modifications (i.e., post-editing the MT). A glossary match system is also included, aiming at terminology consistency.

Chlorella sp. is a green microalgae containing nutrients, vitamins, minerals, and chlorophyll. In some communities, Chlorella sp. is a traditional medicinal plant used for the management of inflammation-related diseases. In a rat model, ROQUETTE Chlorella sp. (RCs) benefits were investigated on visceral pain and associated inflammatory parameters related to cystitis both induced by cyclophosphamide (CYP). RCs was orally administered every day from day 1–16 (250 and 500 mg/kg body weight). Six hours after an intraperitoneal injection of 200 mg/kg body weight of CYP, body temperature, general behavior, food intake, and body weight were recorded. Twenty-four hours after CYP injection, rats were tested in two behavioral tests, an open field and the aversive light stimulus avoidance conditioning test, to evaluate the influence of pain on general activity and learning ability of rats. After euthanasia, bladders were weighed, their thickness was scored, and the urinary hemoglobin was measured. RCs orally administered at the two dosages significantly reduced visceral pain and associated inflammatory parameters related to cystitis both induced by CYP injection, and improved rat behavior. To conclude, RCs demonstrated beneficial effects against visceral pain and cystitis.
Comparison of preservation enrichment media for long storage duration of Campylobacter jejuni
AL-Fawares O'la,Al-Khresieh Rozan O.,Aburayyan Walid,Seder Nesrin,Al-Daghistani Hala I,El-Banna Nasser,Abu-Taleb Emran M. 한국미생물학회 2023 미생물학회지 Vol.59 No.3
Research on Campylobacter jejuni has been greatly impaired due to poor culturing and storage techniques. This study aims to evaluate different preservation methods for C. jejuni for long-term periods of preservation. Three different preservation methods (i, ii, and iii) were tested for their potential for long-term storage of C. jejuni which could be recommended as a simple and reliable method. In the first preservation method (i), 15% glycerol was added to 85% of the bacterial suspension of 4 McFarland standards (McF) and yeast extract. In the second method (ii) the bacterial suspension was supplemented with defibrinated lacked horse blood along with skim milk. Skim milk and 50% glycerol were added to the bacterial suspension in method (iii). Results indicated that method (ii) maintained the highest preservation rate of C. jejuni and the bacteria was capable to grow even after 12 months of storage at -80°C. Method (i) was less efficient than method (ii) where isolates eventually lost their ability to grow after 8 months. Method (iii) showed the least successful preservation rate as many isolates started to die after six months of preservation. This study emphasizes the importance of using defibrinated lacked horse blood along with skim milk during the preservation of bacterial isolates of C. jejuni.

The physical and electrochemical properties of the activated carbon pellet electrodes have been investigated. Activated carbon pellets were prepared from single step carbonization process of pre-carbonized rubber wood sawdust at a temperature of 800 ℃ that followed with a CO2 activation process at temperature in the range of 700–1000 ℃. The BET characterization on the sample found that the surface area of the carbon pellet increased with the increasing of the activation temperature. The optimum value was as high as 683.63 ㎡ g-1. The electrical conductivity was also found to increase linearly with the increasing of the activation temperature, namely from 0.0075 S cm-1 to 0.0687 S cm-1 for the activation temperature in the range of 700–1000 ℃. The cyclic voltammetry characterization of the samples in aqueous solution of 1 M H2SO4 also found that the specific capacitance increased with the increasing of the activation temperature. Typical optimum value was shown by the sample activated at 900 ℃ with the specific capacitance was as high as 33.74 Fg-1 (scan rate 1 mV s-1). The retained ratio was as high as 32.72%. The activated carbon pellet prepared from the rubber wood sawdust may found used in supercapacitor applications.
