PARP inhibitors in ovarian cancer: overcoming resistance with combination strategies
Rowan E Miller,Karim H El-Shakankery,이정윤 대한부인종양학회 2022 Journal of Gynecologic Oncology Vol.33 No.3
The use of PARP inhibitors (PARPi) in patients with epithelial ovarian cancer is expanding, with the transition from use in recurrent disease to the first-line setting. This is accompaniedwith an increasing population of patients who develop acquired PARPi resistance. Coupledwith those patients with primary PARPi resistance, there is an urgent need to better understand mechanisms of resistance and identify means to overcome this resistance. Combination therapy offers the potential to overcome innate and acquired resistance, by either working synergistically with PARPi or by restoring homologous recombination deficiency, targeting the homologous recombination repair pathway through an alternate strategy. We discuss mechanisms of PARPi resistance and data on novel combinations which may restore PARPi sensitivity.

The construction in Egyptian Nubia of the Aswan High Dam in the mid-twentieth century motivated the biggest rescue operation of tangible heritage that has ever been undertaken in the world. However, no comparable focus was accorded to Nubia's intangible heritage, albeit a small team of ethnographers salvaged what they could in a very short amount of time. Nubia is an ancient land that stretches from the first cataract of the river Nile in Egypt to roughly the fourth cataract in the Republic of Sudan. At each of these cataracts there has been, and will be the construction of dams, which will result in the loss of the majority of the natural, material and cultural landscape of Nubia. Knowing how detrimental dam construction, and its concomitant displacement of the inhabitants, is to the continuity of their culture, the Nubians are initiating urgent safeguarding practices in response. These initiatives are assisted by a project team in the documentation, protection and promotion of Nubian languages and intangible heritage. This paper presents some of these current initiatives and highlights how the project fosters capacity for the Nubian community to act to keep their heritage alive.
LOST TIME: WHEN GIANTS ROAMED THE EARTH
Michael Rowan-Robinson 한국천문학회 2017 天文學論叢 Vol.32 No.1
Some after-dinner thoughts on the giants of infrared space astronomy. I here describe important events in infrared astronomy starting from 1964 when I started working on my PhD. Here I describe how I became involved in IRAS, Infrared Space Observatrory (ISO), Herschel , Spitzer and AKARI, together with important events that led to these great missions.
FAR INFRARED AND SUBMILLIMETRE SURVEYS: FROM IRAS TO AKARI, HERSCHEL AND PLANCK
Michael Rowan-Robinson,Lingyu Wang 한국천문학회 2017 天文學論叢 Vol.32 No.1
We discuss a new IRAS Faint Source Catalog galaxy redshift catalogue (RIFSCz) whichincorporates data from Galex, SDSS, 2MASS, WISE, AKARI and Planck. AKARI fluxes are consistent with photometry from other far infrared andsubmillimetre missions provided an aperture correction is applied. Results from the Hermes-SWIRE survey in Lockman are also discussedbriefly, and the strong contrast between the galaxy populations selected at60 and 500 μm is summarized.
