Adaptive Packet Scheduling Scheme to Support Real-time Traffic in WLAN Mesh Networks
( Rongbo Zhu ),( Yingying Qin ),( Chin-feng Lai ) 한국인터넷정보학회 2011 KSII Transactions on Internet and Information Syst Vol.5 No.9
Due to multiple hops, mobility and time-varying channel, supporting delay sensitive real-time traffic in wireless local area network-based (WLAN) mesh networks is a challenging task. In particular for real-time traffic subject to medium access control (MAC) layer control overhead, such as preamble, carrier sense waiting time and the random backoff period, the performance of real-time flows will be degraded greatly. In order to support real-time traffic, an efficient adaptive packet scheduling (APS) scheme is proposed, which aims to improve the system performance by guaranteeing inter-class, intra-class service differentiation and adaptively adjusting the packet length. APS classifies incoming packets by the IEEE 802.11e access class and then queued into a suitable buffer queue. APS employs strict priority service discipline for resource allocation among different service classes to achieve inter-class fairness. By estimating the received signal to interference plus noise ratio (SINR) per bit and current link condition, APS is able to calculate the optimized packet length with bi-dimensional markov MAC model to improve system performance. To achieve the fairness of intra-class, APS also takes maximum tolerable packet delay, transmission requests, and average allocation transmission into consideration to allocate transmission opportunity to the corresponding traffic. Detailed simulation results and comparison with IEEE 802.11e enhanced distributed channel access (EDCA) scheme show that the proposed APS scheme is able to effectively provide inter-class and intra-class differentiate services and improve QoS for real-time traffic in terms of throughput, end-to-end delay, packet loss rate and fairness.
Polymorphic Path Transferring for Secure Flow Delivery
( Rongbo Zhang ),( Xin Li ),( Yan Zhan ) 한국인터넷정보학회 2021 KSII Transactions on Internet and Information Syst Vol.15 No.8
In most cases, the routing policy of networks shows a preference for a static one-to-one mapping of communication pairs to routing paths, which offers adversaries a great advantage to conduct thorough reconnaissance and organize an effective attack in a stress-free manner. With the evolution of network intelligence, some flexible and adaptive routing policies have already proposed to intensify the network defender to turn the situation. Routing mutation is an effective strategy that can invalidate the unvarying nature of routing information that attackers have collected from exploiting the static configuration of the network. However, three constraints execute press on routing mutation deployment in practical: insufficient route mutation space, expensive control costs, and incompatibility. To enhance the availability of route mutation, we propose an OpenFlow-based route mutation technique called Polymorphic Path Transferring (PPT), which adopts a physical and virtual path segment mixed construction technique to enlarge the routing path space for elevating the security of communication. Based on the Markov Decision Process, with considering flows distribution in the network, the PPT adopts an evolution routing path scheduling algorithm with a segment path update strategy, which relieves the press on the overhead of control and incompatibility. Our analysis demonstrates that PPT can secure data delivery in the worst network environment while countering sophisticated attacks in an evasion-free manner (e.g., advanced persistent threat). Case study and experiment results show its effectiveness in proactively defending against targeted attacks and its advantage compared with previous route mutation methods.

Due to the rise in substitution and adulteration of herbal products, as well as the lack of genetic information on Hibiscus plants, more molecular markers are needed to understand the genetic diversity and avoid their misidentification. There are many allelic variants of the functional genes in Hibiscus and other plants, which control their respective phenotypes and other characteristics. Identifying alleles of the desired trait by determining diversification through gene-typing allele-specific markers for authentication is, therefore, a potent strategy. The purpose of this study was to use insertion/deletion (InDel) markers to identify Hibiscus syriacus cultivars. We developed a novel InDel marker for Korean Hibiscus ‘Simbaek’, based on the trnL-F region of the chloroplast gene. Through this InDel site, a modified specific primer pair and a novel multiplex polymerase chain reaction (PCR) system were developed for specific identification of the Korean Hibiscus Simbaek cultivar. The molecular markers developed in this study were highly specific and accurately authenticated as Simbaek from the five main cultivars of H. syriacus. Taken together, the described method is a potential tool for the identification and selection of germplasm resource of Simbaek cultivar.

High-rise buildings often can accommodate the population of small horizontal cities. The investment in high-rise buildings is considerable and therefore a rapid return on investment is necessary. The immediate availability of high-rise buildings can be achieved by automated prefabrication of highly finished modules and their instant on-site assembly by robotic and automated construction sites. A high-rise building as a vertical city can be considered as a sophisticated organism that can constantly change throughout its lifecycle in response to economic growth, demographic change, and environmental pressures. To date, many new urban high-rise developments claim to be "vertical cities", yet few represent this important characteristic. This article analyzed the technological readiness and innovations in the field of construction automation and robotics including single-task construction robots, automated on-site construction factories, and ambient assisted living. These technological advances enable the realization of future vertical cities that are able to continuously grow and transform in terms of form and function. Finally, the article proposes a visionary archetype of vertical city in the name of "dynamic vertical urbanism" that is easy to expand vertically and horizontally in order to achieve instant availability and full life cycle resilience thanks to advanced building technologies.

Objective: To investigate the age-dependent changes in regional cerebral blood flow (CBF) in healthy adults by fitting mathematical models to imaging data. Materials and Methods: In this prospective study, 90 healthy adults underwent pseudo-continuous arterial spin labeling imaging of the brain. Regional CBF values were extracted from the arterial spin labeling images of each subject. Multivariable regression with the Akaike information criterion, link test, and F test (Ramsey’s regression equation specification error test) was performed for 7 models in every brain region to determine the best mathematical model for fitting the relationship between CBF and age. Results: Of all 87 brain regions, 68 brain regions were best fitted by cubic models, 9 brain regions were best fitted by quadratic models, and 10 brain regions were best fitted by linear models. In most brain regions (global gray matter and the other 65 brain regions), CBF decreased nonlinearly with aging, and the rate of CBF reduction decreased with aging, gradually approaching 0 after approximately 60. CBF in some regions of the frontal, parietal, and occipital lobes increased nonlinearly with aging before age 30, approximately, and decreased nonlinearly with aging for the rest of life. Conclusion: In adults, the age-related perfusion patterns in most brain regions were best fitted by the cubic models, and age-dependent CBF changes were nonlinear.

Transglutaminases (TGases) are a family ofenzymes that catalyze the cross-linking of proteins and arewidely used in the food industry to improve the texture ofdairy, meat, and bread products. Zea mays transglutaminase(TGZ) is a new type of TGase with a wide potential. TGZwas expressed in the yeast Pichia pastoris under an alcoholoxidase promoter. Maximal expression of recombinantTGZ was achieved by inducing recombinant GS115(pPIC9K-tgz) in BMMY medium using 1.5% methanol for96 h. Secreted TGZ was initially separated using Superdex200 resin and further purified on cation exchange resin. The activity of TGZ following purification was 0.32 U/mgof protein. The polymerization effect of TGZ on caseincatalyzed by recombinant TGZ was slightly lower than theeffect of microbial transglutaminase (MTG). TGZ is a newpotential additive for the food industry.
