      • Ameliorated MLP based Approach for Identification of Lung Diseases

        Ramandeep Kaur,Prince Verma 보안공학연구지원센터 2016 International Journal of Bio-Science and Bio-Techn Vol.8 No.1

Data Mining is the process of extract information from a data set and transform it into an understandable structure. Classification is a data mining task, used to classify data among different predefined clusters. The paper proposes a new classifier utilizing MLP approach by maintaining the clusters based on similar feature. The improved MLP approach can handle noisy data, reduce complexity and increases the performance. This technique has been applied for automating medical diagnosis. This paper analyzes the lung CT-scan images for identifying and classifying them among the various lung diseases (i.e., bronchitis, emphysema, pleural effusion or normal) by emphasizing on the problematic area.

A NOTE ON SEMI-SLANT LIGHTLIKE SUBMANIFOLDS OF AN INDEFINITE KENMOTSU MANIFOLD

        ( Ramandeep Kaur ),( Gauree Shanker ),( Ankit Yadav ),( Akram Ali ) 호남수학회 2021 호남수학학술지 Vol.43 No.1

In this paper, we study the geometry of semi-slant lightlike submanifolds of an indefinite Kenmotsu manifold. The integrability conditions of distributions D1 ⊕ {V },D2 ⊕ {V } and RadTM on semi-slant lightlike submanifolds of an indefinite Kenmotsu manifold are defined. Furthermore, we derive necessary and sufficient conditions for the above distributions to have totally geodesic foliations.

Mechanical and durability properties of fluoropolymer modified cement mortar

Bansal, Prem Pal,Sidhu, Ramandeep Techno-Press 2017 Structural Engineering and Mechanics, An Int'l Jou Vol.63 No.3

The addition of different types of polymers such as SBR, VAE, Acrylic, etc. in concrete and mortar leads to an increase in compressive, tensile and bond strength and decrease in permeability of polymer modified mortar (PMM) and concrete (PMC). The improvement in properties such as bond strength and impermeability makes PMM/PMC suitable for use as repair/retrofitting and water proofing material. In the present study effect of addition of fluoropolymer on the strength and permeability properties of mortar has been studied. In the cement mortar different percentages viz. 10, 20 and 30 percent of fluoropolymer by weight of cement was added. It has been observed that on addition of fluoropolymer in mortar the workability of mortar increases. In the present study all specimens were cast keeping the workability constant, i.e., flow value $105{\pm}5mm$, by changing the amount of water content in the mortar suitably. The specimens were cured for two different curing conditions. Firstly, these were cured wet for one day and then cured dry for 27 days. Secondly, specimens were cured wet for 7 days and then cured dry for 21 days. It has been observed that compressive strength and split tensile strength of specimens cured wet for 7 days and then cured dry for 21 days is 7-13 percent and 12-15 percent, respectively, higher than specimens cured one day dry and 27 days wet. The sorptivity of fluoropolymer modified mortar decreases by 88.56% and 91% for curing condtion one and two, respectively. However, It has been observed that on addition of 10 percent fluoropolymer both compressive and tensile strength decreases, but with the increase in percentage addition from 10 to 20 and 30 percent both the strengths starts increasing and becomes equal to that of the control specimen at 30 percent for both the curing conditions. It is further observed that percentage decrease in strength for second curing condition is relatively less as compared to the first curing condition. However, for both the curing conditions chloride ion permeability of polymer modified mortar becomes very low.

GENERALIZED CHEN INEQUALITY FOR CR-WARPED PRODUCTS OF LOCALLY CONFORMAL KAHLER MANIFOLDS

        Gauree Shanker,Harmandeep Kaur,Ramandeep Kaur,Abdulqader Mustafa 호남수학회 2024 호남수학학술지 Vol.46 No.1

The purpose of the Nash embedding theorem was to take extrinsic help for studying the intrinsic Riemannian geometry. To realize this aim in actual practice there is a need for optimal relationships between the known intrinsic invariants and the main extrinsic invariants for Riemannian submanifolds. This paper aims to provide an optimal relationship for CR-warped product submanifolds of locally conformal Kahler manifolds.

Endogenous Proteolytic Systems and Meat Tenderness: Influence of Post-Mortem Storage and Processing

        Lovedeep Kaur,Seah Xin Hui,James D. Morton,Ramandeep Kaur,Feng Ming Chian,Mike Boland 한국축산식품학회 2021 한국축산식품학회지 Vol.41 No.4

Meat proteolytic systems play a crucial role in meat tenderisation. Understanding the effects of processing technologies and post-mortem storage conditions on these systems is important due to their crucial role in determining the quality characteristics of meat and meat products. It has recently been proposed that tenderisation occurs due to the synergistic action of numerous endogenous proteolytic systems. There is strong evidence suggesting the importance of μ-calpain during the initial post-mortem aging phase, while m-calpain may have a role during long-term aging. The caspase proteolytic system is also a candidate for cell degradation in the initial stages of conversion of muscle to meat. The role of cathepsins, which are found in the lysosomes, in post-mortem aging is controversial. Lysosomes need to be ruptured, through aging, or other forms of processing to release cathepsins into the cytosol for participation in proteolysis. A combination of optimum storage conditions along with suitable processing may accelerate protease activity within meat, which can potentially lead to improved meat tenderness. Processing technologies such as high pressure, ultrasound, and shockwave processing have been reported to disrupt muscle structure, which can facilitate proteolysis and potentially enhance the aging process. This paper reviews the recent literature on the impacts of processing technologies along with post-mortem storage conditions on the activities of endogenous proteases in meat. The information provided in the review may be helpful in selecting optimum post-mortem meat storage and processing conditions to achieve improved muscle tenderness within shorter aging and cooking times.

Inflammatory bowel disease (IBD)-disk accurately predicts the daily life burden and parallels disease activity in patients with IBD

( Arshdeep Singh ),( Yogesh Kumar Gupta ),( Ashvin Singh Dhaliwal ),( Bhavjeet Kaur Kahlon ),( Vasu Bansal ),( Ramit Mahajan ),( Varun Mehta ),( Dharmatma Singh ),( Ramandeep Kaur ),( Namita Bansal ) 대한장연구학회 2023 Intestinal Research Vol.21 No.3

Background/Aims: The inflammatory bowel disease (IBD)-disk is a validated, visual, 10-item, self-administered questionnaire used to evaluate IBD-related disability. The present study aimed to evaluate IBD-disk in assessment of IBD daily life burden and its relation with disease activity. Methods: A cross-sectional study was conducted between June 2021 and December 2021. Patients with IBD were asked to complete the IBD-disk and a visual analogue scale of IBD daily-life burden (scored from 0-10, score >5 indicative of high burden). The internal consistency of IBD-disk, correlation with IBD daily life burden and disease activity (assessed by partial Mayo score and Harvey Bradshaw Index in patients with ulcerative colitis [UC] and Crohn’s disease [CD], respectively) and diagnostic performance of IBD-disk to detect high burden were analyzed. Results: Out of the 546 patients (mean age 40.33±13.74 years, 282 [51.6%] males) who completed the IBD-disk, 464 (84.98%) had UC and the remaining (n=82, 15.02%) had CD. A total of 311 patients (291 UC and 20 CD; 56.95%) had active disease. The mean IBD-disk total score and IBD daily life burden were 18.39±15.23 and 2.45±2.02, respectively. The IBD-disk total score correlated strongly with the IBD daily life burden (ρ=0.94, P< 0.001), moderately with partial Mayo score (ρ=0.50) and weakly with Harvey Bradshaw Index (ρ=0.34). The IBD-disk total score >30 predicted high IBD daily-life burden. Conclusions: The IBD-disk accurately predicts the daily life burden and parallels disease activity in patients with IBD and can be applied in clinical practice. (Intest Res 2023;21:375-384)
