Influence of socio-environment factors towards acceptance of renewable energy products
Rachana Rai,BB Pradhan,Neeta Dhusia Sharma,Ajeya Jha 사람과세계경영학회 2019 Global Business and Finance Review Vol.24 No.1
Socio-environment is considered as one of the acceptance factors which plays a major role in customers’ decision making before purchases. Study based on socio-environment behaviour of an individual might differ from product to product and from place to place. Thus, research is conducted keeping in mind the renewable energy products, such as, solar water heater, biomass stove and solar street lamps domain and how the users and non-users display acceptance-based socio-environment inclination while purchasing renewable energy products. Results showed that users of renewable energy are more inclined towards socio-environment as compared to non-users of renewable energy products.
Mechanisms of Uniparental Mitochondrial DNA Inheritance in Cryptococcus neoformans
( Rachana Gyawali ),( Xiao Rong Lin ) 한국균학회 2011 Mycobiology Vol.39 No.4
In contrast to the nuclear genome, the mitochondrial genome does not follow Mendelian laws of inheritance. The nuclear genome of meiotic progeny comes from the recombination of both parental genomes, whereas the meiotic progeny could inherit mitochondria from one, the other, or both parents. In fact, one fascinating phenomenon is that mitochondrial DNA in the majority of eukaryotes is inherited from only one particular parent. Typically, such unidirectional and uniparental inheritance of mitochondrial DNA can be explained by the size of the gametes involved in mating, with the larger gamete contributing towards mitochondrial DNA inheritance. However, in the human fungal pathogen Cryptococcus neoformans, bisexual mating involves the fusion of two isogamous cells of mating type (MAT) a and MATα, yet the mitochondrial DNA is inherited predominantly from the MATa parent. Although the exact mechanism underlying such uniparental mitochondrial inheritance in this fungus is still unclear, various hypotheses have been proposed. Elucidating the mechanism of mitochondrial inheritance in this clinically important and genetically amenable eukaryotic microbe will yield insights into general mechanisms that are likely conserved in higher eukaryotes. In this review, we highlight studies on Cryptococcus mitochondrial inheritance and point out some important questions that need to be addressed in the future.

Design of fractional order analog filter, using a single Operational Transresistance Amplifier (OTRA) as an active current mode building block, is presented. The order of the proposed filter is 1.5. The theoretical results have been verified with PSPICE simulation. Obtained filter was realized using OTRA using the RC-RC decomposition technique. Frequency response for the presented filter is shown in the paper. The proposed filter offers some important features: employing single operational transresistance amplifier as an active element, lower sensitivity, insensitive to stray capacitances and parasitic resistances due to internally grounded input terminals of OTRA. Simulation results agree well with the theoretical values.
Fimbristylis ovata extract and its ability to encounter AGEs-induced neurotoxicity in SH-SY5Y
Sirirattanakul Suphasarang,Santiyanont Rachana 한국독성학회 2021 Toxicological Research Vol.37 No.3
Advanced glycation end products (AGEs) upon binding to its receptor (receptor for AGEs, RAGE) trigger several pathological processes involving oxidative stress and inflammatory pathway which play a pivotal role in various degenerative diseases including Alzheimer’s disease. Fimbristylis ovata (F. ovata) has long been reported to be used as a traditional herbal medicine; nonetheless, very few studies have been reported. In this study, the protective effects of F. ovata extract on neurotoxicity of hippocampal neuronal cells (SH-SY5Y) was investigated. When compared to normal control, AGEs treatment significantly induced oxidative stress level and enhanced NF-κB translocation to nucleus in the neuronal cells (p < 0.05). The increase in NF-κB translocation leads to increase in transcription level of the target genes including RAGE and pro-inflammatory cytokines which include interleukin 1 beta (IL1B), tumor necrosis factor-alpha (TNFA) and interleukin 6 (IL6). Pre-treatment of SH-SY5Y with the extracts of F. ovata shows favorable results by significantly suppressing oxidative stress level (p < 0.05) as well transcriptional level of RAGE (p < 0.05) and pro-inflammatory cytokines (p < 0.05). Chemical analysis of F. ovata extracts using High Resolution Liquid Chromatograph Mass Spectrometer (HR-LCMS) and Gas Chromatograph with high resolution Mass Spectrometer (GC-HRMS) suggested some potential active phytochemical compounds. The results from this study may provide possible alternative treatment for prevention and/or therapy of neurodegenerative disorders by targeting the above-mentioned pathways. The role of the phytochemical active ingredient (s) in inhibiting the AGEs-triggered signaling inflammatory pathway should be investigated in future study.

An analysis is made for the study of two- dimensional laminar boundary layer flow of a viscous, incompressible fluid, along an infinite, porous, hot, vertical continuous moving plate. The governing partial differential equations are non-dimensionalized and are solved using Natural Transform Technique. The expressions for velocity field, temperature field, rate of heat transfer and skin-friction have been obtained. The influence of various physical parameters, such as Eckert number Ec, Prandtl number Pr, Grashoff number Gr, plate velocity α and heat source/sink parameters is extensively discussed with the help of graphs to show the physical aspects of the problem. It is found that these parameters significantly affect the flow and heat transfer.

Advanced glycation end products (AGEs) can induce inflammatory signaling pathways through the receptor for AGEs (RAGE). Targeting RAGE could be a therapeutic strategy for treating chronic inflammation mediated by the AGE-RAGE axis. This study aimed to investigate the effects of Fimbristylis ovata and Artemisia vulgaris extracts on AGE-RAGE signaling and AGE-mediated oxidative stress and inflammation in THP-1 cells. F. ovata and A. vulgaris were extracted by a Soxhlet extraction, and antioxidant capacity was evaluated using DPPH and ABTS assays. The human monocytic cell line THP-1 was treated with AGE (600 μg/ml) with and without F. ovata and A. vulgaris extracts (100 μg/ml). The mitochondriatargeting antioxidant MitoQ (2 μg/ml) was used as a positive control. Cell viability, ROS generation, RAGE, AGE-RAGE signaling pathway components, and inflammatory cytokine levels were analyzed. F. ovata and A. vulgaris extracts showed antioxidative effects in non-cell-based assays. Treatment of THP-1 cells with AGE significantly increased the protein levels of RAGE and significantly increased the mRNA expression of cytokines, including TNF-α, IL-1β, and IL-6. AGEs induced the generation of ROS and levels of signaling molecules downstream of RAGE, including phosphorylated and total Erk1/2, JNK, and p38 MAPK, although not significantly. F. ovata and A. vulgaris extracts significantly decreased the protein levels of RAGE and significantly decreased the mRNA levels of cytokines. In conclusion, this study revealed that F. ovata and A. vulgaris extracts exert anti-inflammatory effects through the AGE-RAGE axis. However, details on this anti-inflammatory effect through AGE-RAGE signaling should be further investigated.
