Clevudine (CLV) and entecavir (ETV) were approved in Korea in 2006. While ETV is recommended as first-line monotherapies for treatment chronic hepatitis B in many countries, the application of CLV is limited in Korea and Philippine due to concern about CLV-induced myopathy. Our meta-analysis study was performed to compare the efficacy and safety of CLV to ETV based on literature reviews. Electronic databases were searched and four studies with a total of 697 patients were included in our study. Results showed that virological re- sponse at 48 weeks of treatment was not significantly different between CLV and ETV (RR: 1.05, 95% CI: 0.96-1.14, I2 = 0%). The result for alanine aminotransferase normalization rate (RR: 1.05, 95% CI: 0.96-1.14, I2 = 0%) and serological response (RR: 0.59, 95% CI: 0.27-1.29, I2 = 57%) also showed a similar between CLV and ETV. The results at 24 weeks showed no statistically significant difference between CLV and ETV as well. These results suggest that CLV may have similar efficacy as ETV.
Viscous heating and temperature profiles of liquid water flows in copper nanochannel

Understanding nanoscale fluidic transport becomes increasingly important due to the rapid development of nanotechnology and nanofabrication. By using molecular dynamics (MD) simulations, we investigated the viscous heating of water flows in copper nanochannels. The two scenarios that were studied are Couette flows and Poiseuille flows. We observed the scale effects on the distribution of fluid density, streaming velocity, fluid viscosity, and temperature across the channel. The results revealed the significant effects of surface forces on causing a large deviation between simulation results and classical hypothesis. We found that the energy equation coupled with the thermal-slip boundary conditions still fails to predict the temperature distributions. Hereby, further scale effects are taken into account, which leads to better predictions. The model that we developed in this study shows the relative deviation to the simulation data within 5 %, which is small compared to the conventional continuum approach (i.e., up to 51 %).
The Role of Semantic Features on the L2 Acquisition of English Articles

This study examines the role of semantic features associated with the English article system, namely presuppositionality and specificity, in the acquisition of English articles by Vietnamese L2 learners. Specifically, the study aims to determine whether the Vietnamese L2 learners of English overuse the with specific indefinites and presuppositional indefinites and how the overuse changes depending on contexts and the learners’ proficiency level. Using a forced choice elicitation task, the study has yielded two significant contributions. Firstly, it was found that the learners were affected by both semantic factors as manifested in the overusing of the with specific and presuppositional indefinites. Secondly, the effects of two factors were not equal, with presuppositionality having a stronger and more persistent effect than specificity in triggering article misuses. From the findings, it was suggested that instead of associating the with definiteness, L2 learners often mistakenly associate the with specificity and presuppositionality. Such findings put forward some important pedagogical implications for L2 learners and instructors as well.

The objective of this study was to develop an efficient system for the regeneration of spinach plants (Spinacia oleracea L.) by investigating the factors influencing callus and shoot induction. All plant growth regulator (PGR) combinations tested induced callus with high frequency (73–100 %), and the combination of 5 lM a-naphthaleneacetic acid (NAA), 10 lM 6-benzyladenine (BA) and 0.1 lM gibberellic acid (GA3) had the most significant effect on callus growth in term of weight (120.98 ± 22.56 mg). A high auxin-containing medium induced competent callus for shoot formation, while high cytokinin-containing media enhanced callus growth and made callus incompetent for shoot regeneration. Longer periods of callus induction in a high auxin-containing medium were required to form competent callus and led to a high regeneration capacity. The PGR combination shift from a high auxin to cytokinin ratio (ACR) to a low ACR resulted in highly efficient regeneration. Among the regeneration systems tested, the combination of 10 lM NAA and 0.3 lM GA3 for callus induction for 6 weeks followed by 2 lM NAA and 5 lM BA resulted in the highest plant regeneration frequency (83.33 ± 6.43 %) andthe highest number of plantlets per explant (7.93 ± 1.24). Somatic embryos at cotyledonary stage and plantlets were transferred to PGR-free medium to establish whole plants. Regenerated female plants grew well to maturity in the greenhouse (77.17 ± 9.80 %) and produced seeds (175.21 ± 28.01 firm seeds per plant).
