      • EARLY CRETACEOUS BIRDS AND PTEROSAURS FROM THE SINUIJU SERIES, AND GEOGRAPHIC EXTENSION OF THE JEHOL BIOTA INTO THE KOREAN PENINSULA

        The Lower Cretaceous Sinuiju Series of the Jasong Supergroup (=Jasong System of Pak and Kim, 1996) developed in the Amnok River Basin, North Korea, has yielded a potentially important vertebrate fauna, the taxonomic components of which are closely similar to those of the Jehol Biota best known from the Yixian and Chiufotang (=Jiufotang) formations in western Liaoning province, China (Chang et al., 2003; Zhou et al., 2003). The fossil-bearing beds of the Sinuiju Series consist of lacustrine fine-grained sandstones, mudstones, tuffaceous shales and andesites with a total thickness of over 2500 meters (Pak and Kim, 1996). Stratigraphically, the Sinuiju Series rests unconformably on top of Paleo-proterozoic metamorphic rocks, and underlies the Cretaceous Taebo Supergroup and Palaeogene strata. The age of the Sinuiju Series was thought to be Late Jurassic (Pak and Kim, 1996), but the strata contain the characteristic Eosestheria-Ephemeropsis-Lycoptera complex of the Jehol Biota, supporting an Early Cretaceous age of the Series (see also Lee et al., 2001). Accordingly, the Sinuiju fauna signifies the geographic extension of the Jehol Biota from northeast China into the Korean Peninsula. Vertebrate fossils were found at a road-cut approximately six kilometers south of the city of Sinuiju (Figure 1). The fossil specimens already excavated from this site include Lycoptera and sturgeon fishes, anuran amphibians, several birds, possible theropod dinosaurs, and pterosaurs; none of these have been described in scientific publication, and the taxonomic status has remained uncertain ever since their discovery. Most of the fossils are preserved as dorso-ventral compressions as commonly seen in the Liaoning beds, but occur in dark shales that denote a slightly different depositional environment than the Yixian and Chiufotang formations in western Liaoning, China.

        인사이더 혹은 아웃사이더? 다국적 기업 주재원의 사회적 분류와 현지직원 이직 의도에 관한 연구

        본 연구는 다국적기업 해외 자회사 내 해외 주재원의 사회적 참여와 문화적 차별이 현지 직원의 이직 의도에 미치는 영향에 대한 메커니즘을 연구하는데 그 목적을 두고 있다. 본 연구의 가설을 테스트하기 위해 중국에 있는 19개 해외 다국적기업 자회사에 근무하는 495명의 중국 현지 직원들을 대상으로 설문조사를 진행하였다. 이를 활용하여 구조방정식 모델을 실시한 결과, 현지 직원의 승진 가능성은 해외 주재원의 사회적 참여와 현지 직원의 이직 의도 사이 관계를 완전 매개한다. 업무 자율성은 해외 주재원의 문화적 차별과 사회적 참여가 현지 직원의 이직 의도에 미치는 영향에 대해 부분적 매개 효과를 가진다는 결과가 나타났다. 본 연구는 다국적기업의 해외 주재원이 현지 직원의 이직 의도에 미치는 영향을 주재원의 사회적 참여와 문화적 차별로 나누어 심층 분석하였다는데 그 학문적 의의를 가진다. We examine how expatriates diminish host country national (HCN) employee turnover intention by enhancing perceived upward mobility and task autonomy. HCN perspectives on expatriate managers’ social engagement and cultural separation predictably impact local employees’ perceptions of upward mobility and task autonomy, which, in turn, influence HCN turnover intentions. We test this research model with data collected from 495 Chinese managers and employees working in 19 foreign-invested companies in mainland China. The test results of the structural equation model show that upward mobility fully mediate the effects of perceived social engagement on turnover intention, while task autonomy partially mediates mediate the effects of cultural separation and perceived social engagement on turnover intention. Accordingly, in the context of China, the results suggest that expatriate managers socially engage/culturally approach their Chinese employees to reduce employee turnover intention.

        Investigation on the thermodynamic properties of KCl/CsCl + NaCl + CH3OH + H2O quaternary systems at 298.15 K

        In this work, the thermodynamic properties of the quaternary electrolyte system (KCl/CsCl + NaCl + CH3OH + H2O) were investigated by potentiometric method. The experimental data were interpreted by using the Pitzer model and the Harned rule. The Pitzer mixing interaction parameters (uK/Cs–Na, cK/Cs–Na–Cl) for each system were also evaluated according to multiple linear regression technique. Furthermore, the mean activity coefficients of KCl/CsCl and NaCl, the osmotic coefficients and the excess Gibbs free energy for the mixed electrolyte system were obtained, respectively.

        Magnetostrictive and Magnetic Properties of Tb<SUB>0.29</SUB>Dy<SUB>0.48</SUB>Ho<SUB>0.23</SUB>Fe<SUB>1.9</SUB> Fiber/Epoxy Composites

        In this paper, we fabricated novel magnetostrictive composites by embedding <110>-oriented Tb-Dy-Ho-Fe fibers in an epoxy matrix. The magnetostrictive and magnetic properties (magnetostriction, magnetization, piezomagnetic coefficient and relative permeability) of the proposed composites were measured, analyzed, and compared to those of Tb0.29Dy0.48Ho0.23Fe1.9 alloy and Tb0.3Dy0.7Fe₂ continuous-fiber/epoxy composites. Tb0.29Dy0.48Ho0.23Fe1.9 continuous-fiber/epoxy composites have a saturation magnetostriction (λs) of 840 ppm and saturation magnetization (Ms) of 0.75 T. Their piezomagnetic coefficient exhibits a maximum value (8.2 μm/kA) at 19 kA/m. These proposed composites exhibit a large magnetostriction in high magnetic fields (> 400 kA/m) and a large relative permeability in low magnetic fields (< 100 kA/m). This result indicates that the given composites perform better than the Tb0.29Dy0.48Ho0.23Fe1.9 alloy and Tb0.3Dy0.7Fe₂ fiber/epoxy composites. Thus, the composites with characteristics of high sensitivity and large magnetostriction can be used in the field of ultrasonic sensing.
