        Anti-diabetic activities of catalpol in db/db mice

        The objective was to investigate the hypoglycemic action of catalpol in spontaneous diabetes db/db mice. 40 db/db mice were randomly divided into fi ve groups: model control gourp; db/db plus catalpol 40, 80, 120 mg/kg body wt. groups and db/db plus metformin 250 mg/kg group. Age-matched db/m mice were selected as normal control group. The mice were administered with corresponding drugs or solvent by gavage for 4 weeks. The oral glucose tolerance test was carried out at the end of 3<sup>rd</sup> week. After 4 weeks of treatment, the concentrations of fasting blood glucose (FBG), glycated serum protein (GSP), insulin (INS), triglyceride (TG), total cholesterol (TC) and adiponection (APN) in serum were detected. The protein expressions of phosphorylation-AMPKα1/2 in liver, phosphorylation-AMPKα1/2 and glucose transporter-4 (GLUT-4) in skeletal muscle and adipose tissues were detected by western blot. Real time RT-PCR was used to detect the mRNA expressions of acetyl-CoA carboxylase (ACC) and Hydroxymethyl glutaric acid acyl CoA reductase (HMGCR) in liver. Our results showed that catalpol could significantly improve the insulin resistance, decrease the serum concentrations of INS, GSP, TG, and TC. The concentrations of APN in serum, the protein expression of phosphorylation- AMPKα1/2 in liver, phosphorylation-AMPKα1/2 and GLUT-4 in peripheral tissue were increased. Catalpol could also down regulate the mRNA expressions of ACC and HMGCR in liver. In conclusion, catalpol ameliorates diabetes in db/db mice. It has benefi t effects against lipid/glucose metabolism disorder and insulin resistance. The mechanism may be related to up-regulating the expression of phosphorylation- AMPKα1/2.

        Constitutive Analysis of 6013 Aluminum Alloy in Hot Plane Strain Compression Process Considering Deformation Heating Integrated with Heat Transfer

        Hot plane strain compression tests of 6013 aluminum alloy were conducted at temperatures ranging from 613 to 773 K and strain rates ranging from 10−3 to 10 s−1. A novel model is developed to describe the temperature rise considering deformation heating integrated with heat transfer in tests. The experimental flow stress data are corrected by the proposed novel model. Based on the corrected flow stress, the modified power function constitutive model is developed considering the coupled effects of deformation temperature and strain rate on flow stress. Meanwhile, another two widely used models, temperature-compensated power function and straincompensated hyperbolic sine constitutive model, are also established for the studied 6013 aluminum alloy. Finally, the three constitutive models are compared from the aspects of accuracy, stability and efficiency. It is found that the experimental flow stress is significantly affected by the temperature rise. Furthermore, the influence of heat transfer on temperature rise cannot be ignored. When the constitutive model is established, the coupled effects of deformation temperature and strain rate on flow stress should be considered. The modified power function constitutive model is the best one in describing the flow behavior among the three models.

      • Study of A MEMS Gyroscope Sensing Unit Simulate and Process

        This paper reports a MEMS gyroscope that is driven by the rotating carrier’s angular velocity. The structure and fabrication are introduced in the paper. The silicon processing and simulating of the sensing unit are studied. We use coventor ware to simulate structure. And in process, we use spray coating instead of spinning coating. In simulation, the first modal frequency we obtained is 220.38Hz, it is nearly we calculated. A conformal resist of 3μm thickness is obtained at 35mm Z-height, 100mm/min travel rate, 3ml/min flow rate. In step surface coating it gets more uniform thickness that associates with line width, a better line width would get a more precise pattern. Thus, it provides an opportunity of a precision patterning on a wafer.

        Two Arbuscular Mycorrhizal Fungi Alleviates Drought Stress and Improves Plant Growth in Cinnamomum migao Seedlings

        Cinnamomum migao plants often face different degrees of drought in karst habitats, which can lead to plants’ death, especially in the seedling stage. Widespread of arbuscular mycorrhizal (AM) fungi in karst soils have the potential to address this drought, which is a threat to C. migao seedlings. We inoculated C. migao seedlings with spores from Glomus lamellosum and Glomus etunicatum, two AM fungi widely distributed in karst soils, to observe seedling growth response after simulated drought. Our results showed that 40 g of G. lamellosum and G. etunicatum significantly promoted the growth of C. migao seedlings, 120 days after inoculation. Following a 15-day drought treatment, root colonization of the seedlings with G. lamellosum or G. etunicatum had lower the accumulation of malondialdehyde (MDA) and increased the accumulation of enzymes and osmotic substances in the seedlings. The relative water content in different organs (roots, stems, and leaves) of the drought-stressed seedlings was higher in plants with G. lamellosum or G. etunicatum than in plants without AM fungi colonization. Our results showed that inoculation with AM fungi was an effective means to improve the drought resistance of C. migao seedlings.

        Discovery of Chitin Deacetylase Inhibitors through Structure-Based Virtual Screening and Biological Assays

        Chitin deacetylase (CDA) inhibitors were developed as novel antifungal agents because CDA participates in critical fungal physiological and metabolic processes and increases virulence in soil-borne fungal pathogens. However, few CDA inhibitors have been reported. In this study, 150 candidate CDA inhibitors were selected from the commercial Chemdiv compound library through structure-based virtual screening. The top-ranked 25 compounds were further evaluated for biological activity. The compound J075-4187 had an IC50 of 4.24 ± 0.16 μM for AnCDA. Molecular docking calculations predicted that compound J075-4187 binds to the amino acid residues, including active sites (H101, D48). Furthermore, compound J075-4187 inhibited food spoilage fungi and plant pathogenic fungi, with minimum inhibitory concentration (MIC) at 260 μg/ml and minimum fungicidal concentration (MFC) at 520 μg/ml. Therefore, compound J075-4187 is a good candidate for use in developing antifungal agents for fungi control.
