Based on features of four-angle, an attempt is made to recoganize handprinted Chinese characters. These features, which reflect the structural information of a chinese character, are simple and typical, and they can be inducted by machine automatically. This approach is demonstrated through examples.

Optipore V503, a commercial hypercrosslinked hydrophobic polymer adsorbent, was sulfonated to become hydrophilic to allow more efficient microwave-assisted desorption of adsorbed nonpolar volatile organic compounds (VOCs) such as benzene under humidified conditions. Compared to Optipore V503, the hydrophilic adsorbents showed reduced adsorption capacities towards benzene, but significantly improved microwave-assisted desorption efficiencies under a semi-continuous 600 W microwave irradiation process. The increased desorption efficiency was mainly attributed to adsorbed water, which indirectly allowed heating of the polymer adsorbents to higher temperatures upon irradiation by microwaves.

The land subsidence poses a nonnegligible threat to production and life, especially in dredger fill area. The essence of land subsidence is soil consolidation. Better evaluation of the degree of soil consolidation presents significant progress for predicting land subsidence. In this study, SBAS-InSAR was conducted to Chenjia town, the typical dredger fill area in Chongming East Shoal, Shanghai. SAR data and precise Orbit data were collected from the ESA satellite Sentinel-1 in recent 2 years with approximately one month intervals. the relationship curve of cumulative subsidence with time is obtained after processing. On this basis, the final settlement and soil consolidation can be estimated by applying the method proposed by Professor Huang Wenxi of China. The results show that: The subsidence rate is faster than 20 mm/a; The estimated final settlement is 26.6-52.9 mm, and the corresponding consolidation degree is 54.6 % on average; Soil mass has not yet been fully consolidated and it still takes a long time to achieve stability. In conclusion, the method proposed in this study can provide a clearer understanding of the consolidation degree, and a new reference for the evaluation and prevention of land subsidence. Future research will focus on longer monitoring time to enrich and improve the method. Mechanical Effect of Pre-consolidation Pressure of Structural Behavior Soil

Structural property of soil is a new concept studied in science and study of this issue is a new problem, which involves soil mechanical effect, mechanical variability, and engineering design. Soil such as saline soil, red soil, loess, Xiashu loess, soft soil, or solidified dredger fill, which had been studied in previous research by our research group, has high pre-consolidation pressure (Pc) and high over-consolidation ratio (OCR). Considering the needs of intensity determination in engineering design, soil structure force, structural strength and other issues of structural Soils were studied in this paper. By analyzing experimental data, affecting factors of pre-consolidation pressure (Pc) was discussed. A new cognition about pre-consolidation pressure (Pc), determination method of structural strength, and genetic mechanism of structural force were proposed in this paper. Soil mass structural behavior and the mechanical effect can be one of the important fields of soil structural quantitative research. 1609년 서양 근대신문으로 간주되는 렐라치온(Avisa Relation oder Zeitung)이 발행되면서 신문지면을 통해 정기적으로 뉴스와 정보의 전달이 가능하게 되었다. 심층적인 보도라는 특징으로 인해 지면신문을 고수하는 독자들이 있으나 경쟁매체들의 등장으로 신문은 가독성과 심미성을 향상시켜야만 하게 되었다. 신문은 판형, 제호, 단을 활용한 모듈러그리드, 서체, 이미지와 만평, 컬러, 성과 여백 그리고 광고 등의 다양한 시각적인 요소로 구성되었기 때문에 이들의 특성과 최근 경향에 대해 디자인적 관점에서 연구해야만 신문편집디자인의 수준을 향상시킬 수 있을 것이다. 신문 판형은 축소되어가고 있는 추세이며 판형에 따라 5~7단으로 짜서 모듈러그리드를 적용하고 있다. 제호는 1면 상단에 위치하며 신문의 상징성을 강조하고 있으며, 전용서체를 사용하는 신문들이 증가하고 있다. 사진, 인포그래픽 등 이미지와 만평을 적극적으로 활용하며 지면을 장식하는 기능이 있는 선은 점차 사용을 자제하고 여백을 활용하는 추세이다. 그리고 광고는 재정확보를 위해 증가흔 추세이나 세계 유수신문들은 1면에 광고를 게재하지 않음으로써 권위를 유지하고 있다, 신문사마다 디자인은 다르지만 구성요소를 적용하는 디자인 원칙은 유사하기 때문에 신문편집디자인의 수겅요소와 경향에 대한 연구는 각 신문들이 디자인을 개선하는 지침으로 활용할 수 잇을 것이다. 그러나 구성요소들은 시스템으로써 작용하므로 유기적으로 활용해야만 독자들이 선호하는 신문으로 개선할 수 있을 것이다. As ``Avisa Relation oder Zeitung`` which is as the first modern newspaper was issued in 1609, it became possible to newspaper because of its in-depth repors, newspaper compaies had to improve the typographic readability and esthetic features as competitors emerged. Newspaper consists of a variety of visual elements such as modular grids, which utilize formats and columns, the title, fonts, images and cartoons, colors, lines and empty space, ads, and so forth. Thus, it is necessary to study characteristics and recent trends in term of design in order to improve the level of newspaper design. The growing trens is that newspaper formats are smaller, and that a modular girls are applied with five to seven columns depending in the format. The title is at the top of the front page and utilized to symbolize the newspaper. An increasing number of newspapers are using custom fonts, Images such as photos and infographics as well as cartoons are taken full advantage of. The use of lines to decorate the page gradually reduces, and instead the margin is rather left blank. The weight of ad is increasing to secure financial support, but prominent world-class newspapers maintain the authority by posting no ad on the front page. Although the design is varied depending on the newspaper company, the principles of designing in applying the components are similar. A study on the components and trends of newspaper design, therefore, may be utilized as a guideline for newspapers to improve the design. However, since components function as part of a system, they need to be well organized for the newspaper to be more appealing to readers.

HMGN5 is a typical member of the HMGN (high mobility group nucleosome-binding protein) family which may function as a nucleosomal binding and transcriptional activating protein. Overexpression of HMGN5 has been observed in several human tumors but its role in tumorigenesis has not been fully clarified. To investigate its significance for human lung cancer progression, we successfully constructed a shRNA expression lentiviral vector in which sense and antisense sequences targeting the human HMGN5 were linked with a 9-nucleotide loop. Inhibitory effects of siRNA on endogenous HMGN5 gene expression and protein synthesis were demonstrated via real-time RT-PCR and western blotting. We found HMGN5 silencing to significantly inhibit A549 and H1299 cell proliferation assessed by MTT, BrdU incorporation and colony formation assays. Furthermore, flow cytometry analysis showed that specific knockdown of HMGN5 slowed down the cell cycle at the G0/G1 phase and decreased the populations of A549 and H1299 cells at the S and G2/M phases. Taken together, these results suggest that HMGN5 is directly involved in regulation cell proliferation in A549 and H1299 cells by influencing signaling pathways involved in cell cycle progression. Thus, our finding suggests that targeting HMGN5 may be an effective strategy for human lung cancer treatment.
