This paper proposes a vision-based multiple vehicle automatic detection and tracking system which can be applied in different environments. To detect vehicles, tail light position is utilized for fast vehicle candidate localization. A back propagation neural network (BPNN) trained by a Gabor feature set is used. BPNN verifies vehicle candidates and ensures detection system robustness. In the vehicle tracking step, to overcome multiple vehicle tracking challenges, partial vehicle occlusion and temporarily missing vehicle problems, this paper propose a novel method implementing a particle filter. The color probability distribution function (CPDF) of detected vehicles is used twice in the vehicle tracking sub-system. Firstly, CPDF is adopted to seek potential target vehicle locations; secondly, CPDF is used to measure the similarity of each particle for target vehicle position estimation. Because of various illuminations or target vehicle distances, the same vehicle will generate different CPDFs; the initial CPDF cannot guarantee long-term different scale vehicle tracking. To overcome these problems, an accurate tracking result, which is chosen by a trained BPNN, is used to update target vehicle CPDF. In our experiments, the proposed algorithm showed 84% accuracy in vehicle detection. Videos col-lected from highways, urban roads and campuses are tested in our system. The system performance makes it appropriate for real applications.
Process and product innovarions in vertically differentiated markets with network externalities
Ming-qing Xing,Lai-sheng Wang,Rui-ting Zhang 인하대학교 정석물류통상연구원 2009 인하대학교 정석물류통상연구원 학술대회 Vol.2009 No.10
We analyze product and process innovations in a vertically differentiated duopoly in market with externalities. Through assuming process innovation reduces marginal cost and product innovation improves product quality, we find that;(i) product and process innovations are complements (resp.substitutes) for the firm with low (resp. high) quality when the intensity of network externality is small; (ii) process innovation affects product innovation more intensely when exists network externality than not;(iii) network externality makes process R&D (resp. aggregate process R&D) outcome affected by the parameter of product innovation cost ;(iv) aggregate process R&D outcome in industry increases with network intensity; (v) the firm with higher initial efficiency invests more in process innovation and will obtain more demand and profit than the rival in equilibrium.
Maximal space-like hypersurfaces in $H^4_1(-1)$ with zero Gauss-Kronecker curvature
Qing-Ming Cheng,서영진 대한수학회 2006 대한수학회지 Vol.43 No.1
In this paper, we study complete maximal space-like hypersurfaces with constant Gauss-Kronecker curvature in an anti-de Sitter space $\bold H^{4}_1(-1) $. It is proved that complete maximal space-like hypersurfaces with constant Gauss-Kronecker curvature in an anti-de Sitter space $\bold H^{4}_1(-1) $ are isometric to the hyperbolic cylinder $\bold H^{2}(c_1)\times \bold H^{1}(c_2)$ with $S=3$ or they satisfy $S\leq 2$, where $S$ denotes the squared norm of the second fundamental form.

A released exopolysaccharide (rEPS)-producing strain (LM187) with good acid resistance, bile salt resistance, and cholesterol-lowering properties was isolated from Sichuan paocai and identified as Leuconostoc mesenteroides subsp. mesenteroides. The purified rEPS, designated as rEPS414, had a uniform molecular weight of 7.757 × 105 Da. Analysis of the monosaccharide composition revealed that the molecule was mainly composed of glucose. The Fourier transform-infrared spectrum showed that rEPS414 contained both α-type and β-type glycosidic bonds. 1H and 13C nuclear magnetic resonance spectra analysis showed that the purified rEPS contained arabinose, galactose, and rhamnose, but less uronic acid. Scanning electron microscopy demonstrated that the exopolysaccharide displayed a large number of scattered, fluffy, porous cellular network flake structures. In addition, rEPS414 exhibited strong in vitro antioxidant activity. These results showed that strain LM187 and its rEPS are promising probiotics with broad prospects in industry.

A Gram-positive, catalase- and oxidase-positive, strictly aerobic, endospore-forming rod bacterium, designated K3514T, was isolated from the leaves of Nicotiana tabacum. The strain was able to grow at temperatures of 8–40°C, pH 5.0–10.0 and NaCl concentrations of 0–7%. The predominant quinones (>30%) of this strain were MK-7(H2) and MK-7. Phylogenetic analysis of 16S rRNA gene sequence showed that strain K3514T was affiliated to the genus Lysinibacillus, with its closest relatives being Lysinibacillus mangiferihumi (98.3% sequence similarity), Lysinibacillus sphaericus (97.9% sequence similarity), Lysinibacillus fusiformis (97.4% sequence similarity), and Lysinibacillus xylanilyticus (97.3% sequence similarity). However, low levels of DNA-DNA relatedness values suggested that the isolate was distinct from the other closest Lysinibacillus species. Additionally, based on analysis of morphological, physiological, and biochemical characteristics, the isolate could be differentiated from the closest known relatives. Therefore, based on polyphasic taxonomic data, the novel isolate likely represents a novel species, for which the name Lysinibacillus tabacifolii sp. nov. and the type strain K3514T (=KCTC 33042T =CCTCC AB 2012050T) are proposed.

Purpose: To explore the value of systemic inflammatory markers as independent prognostic factors and the extent these markers improve prognostic classification for patients with inoperable advanced or metastatic gastric cancer (GC) receiving palliative chemotherapy. Methods: We studied the prognostic value of systemic inflammatory factors such as circulating white blood cell count and its components as well as that combined to form inflammation-based prognostic scores (Glasgow Prognostic Score (GPS), Neutrophil-Lymphocyte Ratio (NLR), Platelet Lymphocyte Ratio (PLR), Prognostic Index (PI) and Prognostic Nutritional Index (PNI)) in 384 patients with inoperable advanced or metastatic gastric cancer (GC) receiving first-line chemotherapy. Univariate and multivariate analyses were performed to examine the impact of inflammatory markers on overall survival (OS). Results: Univariate analysis revealed that an elevated white blood cell, neutrophil and/or platelet count, a decreased lymphocyte count, a low serum albumin concentration, and high CRP concentration, as well as elevated NLR/PLR, GPS, PI, PNI were significant predictors of shorter OS. Multivariate analysis demonstrated that only elevated neutrophil count (HR 3.696, p=0.003) and higher GPS (HR 1.621, p=0.01) were independent predictors of poor OS. Conclusion: This study demonstrated elevated pretreatment neutrophil count and high GPS to be independent predictors of shorter OS in inoperable advanced or metastatic GC patients treated with first-line chemotherapy. Upon validation of these data in independent studies, stratification of patients using these markers in future clinical trials is recommended.

Background: : Familial adenomatous polyposis (FAP) is an autosomal dominant inherited disease mainly caused by mutations of the adenomatous polyposis coli (APC) gene with almost complete penetrance. These colorectal polyps are precancerous lesions that will inevitable develop into colorectal cancer at the median age of 40-year old if total proctocolectomy is not performed. So identification of APC germline mutations has great implications for genetic counseling and management of FAP patients. In this study, we screened APC germline mutations in Chinese FAP patients, in order to find novel mutations and the APC gene germline mutation characteristics of Chinese FAP patients. Materials and Methods: The FAP patients were diagnosed by clinical manifestations, family histories, endoscope and biopsy. Then patients peripheral blood samples were collected, afterwards, genomic DNA was extracted. The mutation analysis of the APC gene was conducted by direct polymerase chain reaction (PCR) sequencing for micromutations and multiplex ligation-dependent probe amplification (MLPA) for large duplications and/or deletions. Results: We found 6 micromutations out of 14 FAP pedigrees, while there were no large duplications and/or deletions found. These germline mutations are c.5432C>T(p. Ser1811Leu), two c.3926_3930delAAAAG (p.Glu1309AspfsX4), c.3921_3924delAAAA (p.Ile1307MetfsX13), c3184_3187delCAAA(p.Gln1061AspfsX59) and c4127_4126delAT (p.Tyr1376LysfsX9), respectively, and all deletion mutations resulted in a premature stop codon. At the same time, we found c.3921_3924delAAAA and two c.3926_3930delAAAAG are located in AAAAG short tandem repeats, c3184_3187delCAAA is located in the CAAA interrupted direct repeats, and c4127_4128 del AT is located in the 5'-CCTGAACA-3', 3'-ACAAGTCC-5 palindromes (inverted repeats) of the APC gene. Furthermore, deletion mutations are mostly located at condon 1309. Conclusions: Though there were no novel mutations found as the pathogenic gene of FAP in this study, we found nucleotide sequence containing short tandem repeats and palindromes (inverted repeats), especially the 5 bp base deletion at codon 1309, are mutations in high incidence area in APC gene,.

Both LiNbO₃ and KTiOPO₄ samples were implanted with 350 keV H^+ and He^+ ions at different doses ranging from 1×10^(16) to of 5×10^(16) ions/㎠. Single and multi-energy implantations were performed at room temperature. Mono-mode or a few modes in both LiNbO₃ and KTiOPO₄ waveguides were observed. The effect of temperature on the refractive index profiles of LiNbO₃ and KTiOPO₄ waveguids was studied. The temperature covered from room temperature, 200℃, 194.5 K (dry ice) and 77K (liquid nitrogen). Different mechanisms are needed to interpret the observed behavior. A n_e increased mono-mode LiNbO₃ waveguide was formed by multi-energy keV He^+ ions.
