Online Control of DC Motors Using Fuzzy Logic Controller for Remote Operated Robots

Prema, K.,Kumar, N. Senthil,Dash, Subhransu Sekhar The Korean Institute of Electrical Engineers 2014 Journal of Electrical Engineering & Technology Vol.9 No.1

In this paper, a fuzzy logic controller is designed for a DC motor which can be used for navigation control of mobile robots. These mobile robots can be used for agricultural, defense and assorted social applications. The robots used in these fields can reduce manpower, save human life and can be operated using remote control from a distant place. The developed fuzzy logic controller is used to control navigation speed and steering angle according to the desired reference position. Differential drive is used to control the steering angle and the speed of the robot. Two DC motors are connected with the rear wheels of the robot. They are controlled by a fuzzy logic controller to offer accurate steering angle and the driving speed of the robot. Its location is monitored using GPS (Global Positioning System) on a real time basis. IR sensors in the robot detect obstacles around the robot. The designed fuzzy logic controller has been implemented in a robot, which depicts that the robot could avoid obstacle as well as perform its operation efficiently with remote online control.

Fabrication and Characterization of Silver Nanoparticle and its Potential Antibacterial Activity

        P. Prema,Rincy Raju 한국생물공학회 2009 Biotechnology and Bioprocess Engineering Vol.14 No.6

In the present research silver nanoparticle was fabricated by chemical reduction of silver salt (Silver nitrate, AgNO3) solution. Sodium citrate was used as a reducer. The formation of silver nanoparticle was observed visually by color change (greenish yellow). The surface plasmon resonance peak in absorption spectra of silver nanoparticle showed an absorption maximum at 420 nm in UV-VIS spectrometry. The X-ray diffraction pattern showed the presence of sharp reflections at 111, 200, 220, and 311. This would indicate the presence of silver nanoparticle. The scanning electron micrograph revealed that the average size of silver nanoparticle was 21.22 ± 5.17 nm. Silver nanoparticle exhibited better antimicrobial activity against Staphy lococcus aureus than the other bacterial pathogens. The correlation coefficient between silver nanoparticles and selected bacterial pathogens revealed that there is a strong negative correlation with Escherichia coli, S.aureus and Klebsiella pneumonia (r = −0.975, −0.993, and −0.998, respectively). Empowerment or Embellishment? : The Case of All-Women Police Stations in Madras, India

Kasturi, Prema EWHA WOMANS UNIVERSITY PRESS 1995 Asian Journal of Women's Studies(AJWS) Vol.1 No.-

In a male dominated society, women do not receive the same encouragement as men do in taking jobs traditionally identified as the male domain such as policing. Objectives of this study of women policing in India are to provide an insight into the organization and working of the all-women police stations, to identify the strengths and weaknesses, and to analyze whether they realistically empower women or are merely adopted as embellishments to project the myth of women's status and power. The women police, originally institutionalized on the idea and the social conditions of sexual division of labor, remains typically women's jobs: fewer in number, very few in higher level, concentration on the "women's" duties with "proper" training. On the other hand, once entered the women achieve certain degree of self-confidence. Under the circumstance, it is hard to conclude that women police promises a direction toward gender equality, but it is the author's view that women police has some value in protecting women's well-being and in enhancing the image and role of women in the society and, thus, needs improvement.

ON THE RADICAL BUNDLE OF A LIE ALGEBRA BUNDLE

B.S. Kiranagi,G.PREMA,RANJITHA KUMAR 장전수학회 2012 Proceedings of the Jangjeon mathematical society Vol.15 No.4

We show that the radical and nilradical bundles are characteristic ideal bundles of a Lie algebra bundle. Further a Lie algebra bundle is semisimple if and only if its derivation algebra bundle is semisimple.

Nanoindentation of aluminum (100) at various temperatures

Murugavel Rathinam,Ramesh Thillaigovindan,Prema Paramasivam 대한기계학회 2009 JOURNAL OF MECHANICAL SCIENCE AND TECHNOLOGY Vol.23 No.10

High temperatures generally affect materials in some form. In this regard, the capability to perform nanoscale measurements at elevated temperatures opens up new possibilities for investigating the temperature dependence of materials’ mechanical properties. Particularly, the responses of aluminum’s different mechanical properties to indentation at various temperatures have been studied experimentally. In this paper, aluminum response to different room temperatures was examined. The behaviors of a single crystal aluminum during loading and unloading were observed. Nanoindentation experiments on a single crystal aluminum (100) sample at temperatures of 265 K and 388 K were performed with different loading conditions. At the start of the first burst of the dislocation glide, which was indicated by a sudden increase in displacement with no increase in loading, evidence of plastic properties and softening effects on aluminum was identified. The ductile to brittle transition was observed at temperatures below 273 K. Generally, there was a significant increase in the penetration depth and a decrease in hardness, elastic modulus, and elastic recovery as the testing temperature increased.

      • M-Learning: Is Medium the Message?

        M. Shuaib Mohamed Haneef(슈아이브 모하메드 하니프),Prema P Nair(프리마 네어) 한국방송학회 2005 한국방송학회 세미나 및 보고서 Vol.- No.-

Mobile telephony, as a technology, has lent itself to varied uses. Mobile phones have been receiving constant reinvigoration and have advanced to a level where their technological features are ahead of audience demand. From being synonymous with voice calls and SMS, these gadgets, now, have impressive features built into them such as MP3, Camera, FM, MMS, GPRS, WAP-enabled phones, and Bluetooth technology. In brief, mobile phones can, at best, be described as a stripped-down version of the Internet. As the Internet finds its new expression in the form of e-learning, social scientists and instructional technology researchers are attempting to identify the applicability of mobile phones in educational domains. As most of the Internet features are ingrained in mobile phones, it is only legitimate to take initiatives in the direction of exploring if mobile phones could be used as an effective supplementary tool to facilitate learning. Although extensive studies have not been undertaken in this sphere, efforts are on to examine how a technology that was primarily designed for making calls could be extended for informal learning. This study reviews the scope of SMS texting as furtherance to conventional learning.
