Achintya Pramanik,Debjani Dey 한국응용곤충학회 2017 Journal of Asia-Pacific Entomology Vol.20 No.1
Walkerella Westwood, a non-pollinating fig wasp genus belonging to subfamily Otitesellinae (Chalcidoidea, Pteromalidae) is represented by eight known species. A new species Walkerella tridentata Pramanik & Dey sp. nov. is described in this paper. This new species exhibiting extreme sexual dimorphism is reared from Ficus amplissima in New Delhi, India. Available species level diagnostic key is supplemented to facilitate identification of both sexes of the new species.

<P>On the basis of the PBE-D2 calculation that empirically includes van der Waals interaction to the standard GGA approximation of Perdew, Berke, and Ernzerhof, we have investigated the adsorption of paramagnetic O2 and NO on pristine, N-doped, and P-doped graphene. We found that the van der Waals interaction makes an important contribution to the physisorption energy and to the adsorption geometry of these gases in pristine and N-doped graphene. A detailed band-structure calculation shows that the electrostatic interaction due to charge transfer is also important, causing their adsorption on 2N-doped graphene to be appreciably stronger than that on pristine graphene or 1N-doped graphene. In the case of the adsorption of two molecules on 2N-doped graphene, spins of two adsorbed molecules couple differently depending upon the kind of gas molecules. Meanwhile, chemisorption of two O2 atoms leaves the 2P-doped graphene a nonmagnetic semiconductor, while adsorption of two NO molecules turns the system into a magnetic semiconductor.</P><P><B>Graphic Abstract</B> <IMG SRC='http://pubs.acs.org/appl/literatum/publisher/achs/journals/content/jpccck/2011/jpccck.2011.115.issue-22/jp200783b/production/images/medium/jp-2011-00783b_0004.gif'></P>

Both aerobic and anaerobic microbes are responsible for the fertility of soils by mineralizing organic matter. In water-logged soils, like rice paddy soils, anaerobic microbes have a great importance in the mineralization. We developed a method to determine microbial biomass in rice paddy soils by combining of anaerobic and aerobic microbial processes as a scalar for the microbial biomass. Potential methanogenesis was used to describe the anaerobic microbial community, while substrate-induced respiration (SIR) is related to the aerobic microbes. The calibration of the method was based on the total microbial biomass determined by fumigation extraction (FE) method. Microbial biomass carbon (MBC) could be calculated using the following equation: MBC = kcf (1.956 MA + 0.710 SIR + 10.192), where kcf = 2.142 +/- 0.337 (coefficient based on the calibration against FE), MA = potential methanogenesis and SIR = substrate induced respiration. The MBC had shown significantly positive correlation (r = 0.830*) with the total C loss potential or C mineralization potential (μg C loss g-1 soil d-1) [={MA x (12/16)} + {SIR x (12/44)}] of rice paddy soils.

<P>BACKGROUNDSubmerged rice paddy soils are the major anthropogenic source of methane (CH4) emission to the atmosphere. Straw incorporation for sustaining soil organic C pool increases CH4 emission flux from rice paddy soils. Though the rate of nitrous oxide (N2O) emission is much less than CH4, the former has 298 times higher global warming potential (GWP) than equivalent quantity of carbon dioxide. The effect of chelating agents, such as EDTA, on N2O emission and on GWP due to CH4 and N2O emissions has not been evaluated before. RESULTSThe emission of CH4 gas from submerged soil may be mitigated by EDTA application; however, it also increases concentration of nitrate-N in soil, the precursor of N2O gas formation under anaerobic condition. In this experiment, irrespective of straw application, EDTA-treated soils emitted less CH4 to the atmosphere than the corresponding control. Though N2O emission was increased from soil due to EDTA applications, total GWP was at least 15% reduced in EDTA treated soils during rice cultivation. The plant growth and rice grain yield was not affected by EDTA application. CONCLUSIONEDTA application at 5.0ppm might be used to reduce total global warming potential during rice cultivation. <P>Neurotrophins (NTs) are members of a neuronal growth factor protein family whose action is mediated by the tropomyosin receptor kinase (TRK) receptor family receptors and the p75 NT receptor (p75NTR), a member of the tumor necrosis factor (TNF) receptor family. Although NTs were first discovered in neurons, recent studies have suggested that NTs and their receptors are expressed in various types of stem cells mediating pivotal signaling events in stem cell biology. The concept of stem cell therapy has already attracted much attention as a potential strategy for the treatment of neurodegenerative diseases (NDs). Strikingly, NTs, proNTs, and their receptors are gaining interest as key regulators of stem cells differentiation, survival, self-renewal, plasticity, and migration. In this review, we elaborate the recent progress in understanding of NTs and their action on various stem cells. First, we provide current knowledge of NTs, proNTs, and their receptor isoforms and signaling pathways. Subsequently, we describe recent advances in the understanding of NT activities in various stem cells and their role in NDs, particularly Alzheimer's disease (AD) and Parkinson's disease (PD). Finally, we compile the implications of NTs and stem cells from a clinical perspective and discuss the challenges with regard to transplantation therapy for treatment of AD and PD.</P>
UNIQUENESS OF HOMOGENEOUS DIFFERENTIAL POLYNOMIALS CONCERNING WEAKLY WEIGHTED-SHARING
Pramanik, Dilip Chandra,Roy, Jayanta Korean Mathematical Society 2019 대한수학회논문집 Vol.34 No.2
In 2006, S. Lin and W. Lin introduced the definition of weakly weighted-sharing of meromorphic functions which is between "CM" and "IM". In this paper, using the notion of weakly weighted-sharing, we study the uniqueness of nonconstant homogeneous differential polynomials P[f] and P[g] generated by meromorphic functions f and g, respectively. Our results generalize the results due to S. Lin and W. Lin, and H.-Y. Xu and Y. Hu.

Ethylene vinyl acetate (EVA)/clay nanocomposites were synthesized by blending a solution of ethylene vinyl acetate copolymer containing 12% vinyl acetate abbreviated as EVA-12 in toluene and dispersion of dodecyl ammonium ion intercalated montmorillonite (l2Me-MMT) in N,N-dimethyl acetamide (DMAc). X-ray patterns of sodium montmorillonite ($Na^+$-MMT) and 12Me-MMT exhibited $d_{001}$ peak at $2{\theta}=7.4^{\circ}$ and $2{\theta}=5.6^{\circ}$ respectively; that is, the interlayer spacing of MMT increased by about 0.39 nm due to intercalation of dodecyl ammonium ions. The XRD trace of EVA showed no peak in the angular range of $3-10^{\circ}(2{\theta})$. In the XRD patterns of EVA/clay hybrids with clay content up to 6 wt% the basal reflection peak of 12Me-MMT was absent. leading to the formation of delaminated configuration of the composites. When the 12Me-MMT content was 8 wt% in the EVA-12 matrix, the hybrid revealed a peak at about $2{\theta}=5.6^{\circ}$, owing to the aggregation of aluminosilicate layers. Transmission electron microscopic photograph exhibited that an average size of 12-15 nm clay layers were randomly and homogeneously dispersed in the polymer matrix, which led to the formation of nanocomposite with delaminated configuration. The formation of delaminated nanocomposites was manifested through the enhancement of mechanical properties and thermal stability, e.g. tensile strength of an hybrid containing only 2 wt% 12Me-MMT was enhanced by about 36% as compared with neat EVA-12.

Pramanik, L.K.,Adhikari, M.R. 충청수학회 2006 충청수학회지 Vol.19 No.1
In this paper we characterize the graphs whose inserted graphs are Hamiltonian, and we study the relationship between Hamiltonian graphs and inserted graphs. Also we prove that if a connected graph G contains at least 3 vertices then inserted graph of the square of G is Hamiltonian and if G contains at least 3 edges then the square of inserted graph of G is Hamiltonian.
