Antimutagenic Effects of Lycopene and Tomato Purée
Zdeňka Polívková,Petr Šmerák,Hana Demová,Milan Houška 한국식품영양과학회 2010 Journal of medicinal food Vol.13 No.6
Several health benefits, including protection from tumors at various anatomic sites, such as the lungs, stomach, and prostate gland, have been attributed to tomatoes and tomato-based products. Among tomato carotenoids, lycopene is the most active antioxidant, although it has many other biological effects, but data on its antimutagenic effects are scarce and often discrepant. The aim of our work was to determine the protective effects of lycopene, with regard to mutagenicity, via two indirect mutagens/carcinogens—2-amino-3-methylimidazo[4,5-f]quinoline (IQ) and aflatoxin B1 (AFB1) and the direct mutagen/carcinogen N-nitroso-N-methylurea (MNU)—using the Ames and micronucleus tests. The significant, dose-dependent, antimutagenic effects of two concentrations of lycopene (30μg and 300μg per plate) were demonstrated at various concentrations of both AFB1 and IQ in two strains of Salmonella typhimurium (TA98 and TA100). The protective effects of lycopene relative to MNU were lower in comparison to its protective effects relative to AFB1 and IQ. Mice treated for 3 days with different doses of lycopene (either 25 or 50mg/kg of body weight) prior to administration of individual mutagens resulted in a significant reduction of micronuclei numbers in the micronucleus test. Tomato purée (tested using the Ames test and AFB1) revealed a much stronger, dose-dependent, antimutagenic effect compared with corresponding doses of pure lycopene. Results indicate that lycopene has antimutagenic effects, although the effects are lower than that of tomato purée, which contains a complex mixture of bioactive phytochemicals. The antimutagenic effect is connected with the chemoprotective role of lycopene, tomatoes, and tomato products in the prevention of carcinogenesis.

Because of the problem of interception investigation and arrested transnational laborers in Maehongson province, this project was set forth to study the format link and network management processes of transnational laborers as well as to study the factors that influence their attitudes. beliefs and motivation that propel them to enter into Thailand. The research used survey research and in-depth interviews from samples in urban areas such as Kengtung, Taunggyi, Lashio including the perimeter in Shan State and a group of transnational laborers who arrived in Maehongson province as well as those associated with the management processes of transnational laborers between October, 2011 and September, 2012. The research discovered that the network in Shan State and Thailand are linked systematically because of economic reasons and the influence of media television from Thailand and other information from people with experience in Thailand. These were factors which influenced the decision of transnational laborers to work in Thailand. Moreover, the geographic location and the cultural background of the Shan in Maehongson province acted as a gateway to Thailand. Some solutions have been offered to prepare collaborative projects between Thailand and Myanmar, being managed by both parties and cooperating at the borders of both countries. For example, the “Maehongson Model” is an approach to solving problems and sustainable impact.
Wireless Sensor Networks for an Information Technology-Driven Viticulture and Vinification
Francis Pol Lim 차세대컨버전스정보서비스학회 2015 디지털예술공학멀티미디어논문지 Vol.2 No.2
Wireless Sensor Networks is one of latest trending technology because of its wide array of usage in various fields. This article talks about related studies and literature regarding WSN applications in agriculture and in the winemaking industry. Specifically, this study focuses on how WSNs can help in grapevine cultivation and grape wine production. Furthermore, a list of the most popular cultivars of grapes was provided as well as their respective other known names. Because of the fact that these varieties of grapes are the most desired by the people, WSNs will probably be utilized frequently in these cultivars in order to maintain quality and increase the quantity of products to meet the demands of consumers.
Efficacy of Kyllinga monocephala Rottb. Plant Extractin Lowering the Blood Glucose Level of Mice
Francis Pol Lim 차세대컨버전스정보서비스학회 2014 차세대컨버전스정보서비스기술논문지 Vol.3 No.1
Medicinal plants are among the oldest products mankind has utilized. In folk times, herbal drugs have helped many people in treating their illnesses. In our time today, many plants which are proven to be effective through intensive laboratory experiments are being processed and registered to be an approved medicine. Kyllinga monocephala Rottb. is a common weed found abundantly in open-grasslands. Some may think that it is useless but this type of weed contains active compounds which has antihyperglycemic effect. The study conducted a simple experiment to prove if the plant really possesses such properties. The study aimed to find out if Kyllinga monocephala Rottb. plant extract reduces the blood glucose level of mice. Specifically, the study identifies the active compounds present in the plant extract; and determines the antihyperglycemic potential of annuang plant extract at different concentrations. This study would serve as a springboard for future researchers who are capable of doing intensive and careful medical studies regarding the plant.

A Research Analysis on the Convergence of Information and Operational Technologies in Business
Francis Pol Lim 차세대컨버전스정보서비스학회 2016 차세대컨버전스정보서비스기술논문지 Vol.5 No.1
Each technological system has its own capability to do a certain task. As time passes by, each piece of technology has the tendency to evolve. One result might be the bridging of gap between two systems so that they can operate as one. This paper discusses the linking of information technology and operational technology which are typically found in business systems. A brief introduction about the functions of the typical division of a business entity was made. Then this article has then enumerated the different IT and OT applications and have managed to make models on how these two areas can be connected. Lastly, this paper also talked about the technical and organizational challenges of adapting this technological convergence.
