Key Attributes of Banking Website Quality in Vietnam: A Decision Tree Approach
Pham,Thi Thanh Xuan,Nguyen,Tien Nhat 한국유통과학회 2019 KODISA ICBE (International Conference on Business Vol.2019 No.-
This study aims to explore key factors of commercial bank’s website quality impacting on the process of making decision to use internet banking services. It was conducted as a case study of four big commercial banks of Vietnam, namely Vietinbank, Vietcombank, BIDV and Sacombank that have many online services and retails agencies nationwide. Data was collected by surveying customers of these banks, then the decision tree model was applied to analyze it with using Weka software. According to a result of the decision tree, there are four essential attributes of the website quality: Information quality, Visual appearance, Accessibility, and Interactivity. No previous study has investigated this subject in Vietnamese banking system, so the findings should make an important contribution to this field.

Objective: The rapid and reliable detection of the African swine fever virus (ASFV) plays an important role in emergency control and preventive measures of ASF. Some methods have been recommended by FAO/OIE to detect ASFV in clinical samples, including real-time polymerase chain reaction (PCR). However, mismatches in primer and probe binding regions may cause a false-negative result. Here, a slight modification in probe sequence has been conducted to improve the qualification of real-time PCR based on World Organization for Animal Health (OIE) protocol for accurate detection of ASFV in field samples in Vietnam. Methods: Seven positive confirmed samples (four samples have no mismatch, and three samples contained one mutation in probe binding sites) were used to establish novel real-time PCR with slightly modified probe (Y = C or T) in comparison with original probe recommended by OIE. Results: Both real-time PCRs using the OIE-recommended probe and novel modified probe can detect ASFV in clinical samples without mismatch in probe binding site. A high correlation of cycle quantification (Cq) values was observed in which Cq values obtained from both probes arranged from 22 to 25, suggesting that modified probe sequence does not impede the qualification of real-time PCR to detect ASFV in clinical samples. However, the samples with one mutation in probe binding sites were ASFV negative with OIE recommended probe but positive with our modified probe (Cq value ranked between 33.12-35.78). Conclusion: We demonstrated for the first time that a mismatch in probe binding regions caused a false negative result by OIE recommended real-time PCR, and a slightly modified probe is required to enhance the sensitivity and obtain an ASF accurate diagnosis in field samples in Vietnam.

In this work, we investigated the influence of additional compounds of Nd-Cu-Al, Dy-Nb-Al, Dy-Zr-Al and Nb-Cu-Al on coercivity of sintered Nd-Fe-B magnets. The additional nanoparticles with size in the range of 40e80 nmwas mixed with the micrometer Nd-Fe-B powder before sintering process. The results show that the coercivity of the sintered Nd-Fe-B magnets can be improved by introducing additional nanoparticles to their grain boundaries. The improvement of the coercivity of the magnets is clearly dependent on composition and fraction of the additional compounds. While the Dy-Nb-Al, Dy-Zr-Al and Nb-Cu-Al compounds degrade the coercivity of the sintered Nd-Fe-B magnets, the Nd-Cu-Al nanoparticles considerably improve this quantity. The coercivity the sintered Nd16.5Fe77B6.5 magnets has been enhanced about 40% by adding 3 wt% of the Dy-free compound of Nd40Cu30Al30.
Micropropagation from root segments to improve seedling quality in Chinese foxglove crops

This is the first study to establish a complete protocol for micropropagation of Rehmannia glutinosa from root segments. The study involved investigating the effect of plant growth regulators on in vitro shoot regeneration and rooting and identifying substrates supporting survival and growth performance of ex vitro seedlings. A Murashige and Skoog (MS) medium containing 30 g/L sucrose for shoot induction and 0.2 mg/L indole-3-acetic acid (IAA), 1 mg/L 6-benzylaminopurine (BAP), and 1 g/L polyvinylpyrrolidone (PVP) for shoot multiplication resulted in the highest number of shoots per explant and shoot height. Applying a medium containing 0.5 mg/L IAA and 1 g/L PVP yielded optimal rooting of the shoots grown in vitro. Compost enriched with microbial inoculants and perlite enhanced seedling growth better than that with organic biofertilizer-free substrates (soil and sand). We recommend the continuous production of micropropagated R. glutinosa seedlings from root segments under the aforementioned conditions as a possible propagation technique for crops of this species.
Monetary Policy and Bank Liquidity Creation: Does Bank Size Matter?
Pham Hanh Song Thi,Le Thanh,Nguyen Loan Quynh Thi 한국국제경제학회 2021 International Economic Journal Vol.35 No.2
This paper investigates the effect of monetary policy on liquidity creation of commercial banks and if the effect is conditional on bank size. The paper uses a dataset covering 23 Vietnamese commercial banks during the period 2007–2017 collected from various sources including State Bank of Vietnam, International Monetary Fund, SNL Financial database (provided by SNL Company), Vietnam General Statistic Office and banks’ annual reports. Different econometric techniques are employed to analyse the data. Obtained results indicate that a contractionary monetary policy could lead to a decrease in bank liquidity creation. This result is less pronounced with larger banks. In particular, among three monetary policy instruments employed in Vietnam, an increase in the base rate is significantly associated with a contraction in bank liquidity creation; open market operations may have a marginal impact while required reserve ratio is ineffective because of its unchanged value throughout the period of the study. This paper is among the first, providing an insight into each monetary policy instrument’s role in influencing bank liquidity creation in the context of an emerging economy.

This presentation will share experience of CSAGA in using the education-entertainment strategy (Edutainment) as an approach to tackle sexual violence against women in Vietnam. It also present practices and lessons learned from the project “Don’t cry alone” to appeal actions to protect sexual and reproductive health rights of women and children in Vietnam. Sexual violence against women is a serious violation of women’s sexual and reproductive rights. In Vietnam, sexual violence is prevalent and hidden in silence. Therefore, sexual violence have not been recognized and prioritized. According to the National Study on Violence against Women in Vietnam in 2010, 10% ever married women experienced sexual violence in their life time. Most of victims kept silence and acceptance without seeking support from the family and authority. There are many reasons for women to keep silence and sexual violence prevalence. Firstly, the public still impose much prejudice and stigma against survivors of sexual violence. Mass media in Vietnam still reinforces this prejudice, hence, sexual violence is still pondered as a behind-the-door stories of each Vietnamese Family. Secondly, many women think that meeting the sex demands of their husbands or their partners are their obligation and responsibilities. Hence, they accept the fact and cannot refuse sex when they do not want. Thirdly, support services system, particularly healthcare services, are not ready and reliable to provide healthcare for survivors of sexual violence. This presentation will examine the current situation of sexual violence, how to break silence on sexual violence, barriers and opportunities for sexual violence prevention and control, whether the edutainment strategy is an alternative to tackle sexual violence in Vietnam, and further implications for social activists and feminists in Asia. This presentation also shares some experience of CSAGA to break silence on sexual violence through using social media like the facebook page “Love and freedom” and using documentary films and other edutainment forms to attract attention of the public and policy makers, appealing them to take actions to end sexual violence.

Three compounds including 7,7-bis(3-indolyl)-p-cresol (1), cyclo-(S-Pro-R-Leu) (2) and cyclo-(S-Pro-R-Val) (3) were isolated from the strain of Bacillus megaterium LC derived from the marine sponge Haliclona oculata. All the isolated compounds showed antimicrobial activity at MIC values ranging from 0.005 to 5 ?g/mL against Gram-negative bacteria Vibrio vulnificus and V. parahaemolyticus, gram-positive bacteria Bacillus cereus and Micrococcus luteus, and the dermatophyte Trichophyton mentagrophytes. The results suggested that these compounds might have potential to be developed as agents treating dermatosis and controlling vibriosis in aquaculture.
