        Advanced Imaging of Nanometer-Scale Recorded Bits on Super-Resolution Near-Field Optical Disk

        An advanced imaging technique is demonstrated for fast, non-destructive and high resolution characterizations for nanometer-scale recorded bits on a super-resolution near-field optical disk (super-RENS). For the first time, an array of individual 100 nm recorded marks is imaged and studied by using the conductive-atomic force microscopy (C-AFM) method. Discussions also include comparisons of 300 nm, 200 nm and 100 nm recorded marks on both a super-RENS disk and a commercial DVD disk, and the image results are evidence of the high carrier-to-noise ratio (CNR) value on the super-RENS disk, even though the mark size has been shrunk to less than the diffraction limit.

        문화 차이가 제품 디자인에 미치는 영향에 대한 연구 : 홉스테드(Geert Hofstede)의 문화변수를 중심으로

        문화는 소비자의 행동에 가장 강한 영향을 미치는 요인으로 받아들여지고 있다. 하지만 문화에 관련된 내용은 매우 많기 때문에 파약하기가 다소 어렵다. 지금까지는 디자이너가 다른 나라 제품을 디자인 할 때 대부분 설문조사를 통해 그 나라 문화의 통계적인 경향을 파악하였다. 그러나 소비자에게 영향을 준 근본적인 문화 배경적 원인을 파악할 수 없다면 지속적인 디자인을 하기가 어렵다. 문화 배경적 원인을 파악하기 위해서 본 연구에서는 선행 연구를 통해 문화의 정의와 대표적인 홉스테드, 에드워드 홀, 데이비드 빅터, 폰스 트롬페나즈 네 학자의 비교문화 모형을 논의하였고, 그 중에서 높이 평가되고 있는 홉스데드의 ‘권력차이’ ‘집단주의 대 개인주의’ ‘남성주의 대 여성주의’ ‘불확실 회피성’ ‘장기지향성 대 단기지향성’ 그리고 2010년에 추가된 ‘방종 대 규제’까지 여섯 가지 문화변수를 이용하여 Keng-Yu Tien, van den Berg-Weitzel, van de Laar, Patrick W Jordan, Aaron Marcus, Emilie W. Gould 등 학자의 이론을 통해 홉스데드의 문화변수와 디자인 연관성을 논의하였다. 또한, 휴대폰 사용 환경, 색상, 형태, 재질, 기능 등의 측면에서 한중일 휴대폰 디자인 비교 분석을 통하여 홉스테드 문화변수와 제품디자인은 연관성이 존재한다는 것을 밝혀내었다. 홉스테드의 문화변수가 제품디자인에 적용이 가능하다는 이론적 검증을 통해 향후 문화적인 디자인 개발이 필요한 제품에 문화 변수가 활용될 수 있다는 것은 이 연구의 의의로 찾을 수 있다. Today"s cyber education based on internet technology(IT) can be approach portal site concept to be background with Internet environment cyber space and knowledge exchange and commons. In this Portal Site type, hub portal site, that is the sectionized portal type which produce professional information deeply. Today"s web site for cyber education follow the form of hub portal mostly, but they have many problem like different standards of contents design and sides of visual and cognitive interface. In this study, we grafted cyber education sites into hub portal concepts, analyzed Interface design types for cyber education contents based on hub portal, and deduced the usability index, so there is the meaning of trying approach of web interface design. Culture is one of the most important factors, which can affect customers’ behaviors. However, there are so many contents about culture that we can"t grasp easily. So far, most of designers conclude some statistical conclusions through surveys to grasp the culture. But if designers could not grasp the customers" fundamental culture background, it would be difficult to do continual design. Thus, in order to grasp the fundamental factor of culture background, this paper arranges the definition of culture and the model of comparative culture, proves that the cultures dimensions of Hofstede ("power distance" "collectivism versus individualism, masculinity versus femininity, uncertainty avoidance, long-term orientation versus short-term orientation, indulgence versus restraint) is related to design through the combination of the dimensions of Cultures theory of Hofstede, which is the most valued in comparative culture, and theories of Keng-Yu Tien, van den Berg-Weitzel, van de Laar, Patrick W Jordan, Aaron Marcus, Emilie W. Gould etc. What’s more, it proves further the cultures dimensions of Hofstede is deeply related to design, through the analysis of comparison of hand phone design based on colors, materials, function and usage environment etc. among China, Korea, and Japan.

      • A Sphingosine Kinase-1 Inhibitor, SKI-II, Induces Growth Inhibition and Apoptosis in Human Gastric Cancer Cells

        SKI-II has been reported as an inhibitor of sphingosine kinase 1 and has been extensively used to prove the involvement of sphingosine kinase and sphingosine-1-phosphate (Sphk1) in cellular processes. In the current study, we investigated the effects of SKI-II and its potential mechanisms in human gastric cancer SGC7901 cells. After treatment with SKI-II, cell growth, cell cycle distribution, apoptosis, expression of Sphk1, NF-${\kappa}B$, Bcl-2, Bax and p27 were assessed by MTT assay, flow cytometry, electron microscopy, immunocytochemistry and Western-blot assay, respectively. Our results showed that SKI-II markedly inhibited SGC7901 cell survival in a dose-dependent manner, reduced cell proliferation with accumulation of cells in the G0/G1 phase and induced apoptosis in the tumor cells. Furthermore, Western blotting and immunocytochemistry showed that the expression of p27 and Bax was increased significantly, but the expression of NF-${\kappa}B$, Bcl-2 and Sphk1 decreased by different degrees. These results indicate that SKI-II induced cell growth arrest and apoptosis. The increased apoptotic sensitivity of SGC7901 was correlated with NF-${\kappa}B$ or Bcl-2/Bax activation.

        There is growing evidence that the coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19) caused by severe acute respiratory syndrome coronavirus 2 (SARS-CoV-2) is associated with increased risks of psychiatric sequelae. Depression, anxiety, cognitive impairments, sleep disturbance, and fatigue during and after the acute phase of COVID-19 are prevalent, long-lasting, and exerting negative consequences on well-being and imposing a huge burden on healthcare systems and society. This current review presented timely updates of clinical research findings, particularly focusing on the pathogenetic mechanisms underlying the neuropsychiatric sequelae, and identified potential key targets for developing effective treatment strategies for long COVID. In addition, we introduced the Formosa Long COVID Multicenter Study (FOCuS), which aims to apply the inflammation theory to the pathogenesis and the psychosocial and nutrition treatments of post-COVID depression and anxiety.

        The Effect of Agomelatine in Behavioral and Psychological Symptoms of Dementia

        Objective: Moderate and severe behavioral and psychological symptoms of dementia (BPSD) often need medical treatment to improve symptoms. Agomelatine is a selective melatonergic (MT1/MT2) agonist that has normalizing effects on disturbed circadian rhythms and disrupted sleep−wake cycles. Its activity of 5HT-2C receptor antagonism is associated with lessening depression and anxiety and increasing slow-wave sleep. Based on past clinical records and current findings it suggests that agomelatine can improve BPSD for patients. This retrospective cohort study was designed to compare the BPSD before and after using agomelatine. Methods: Records of dementia cases who had ever received agomelatine treatment for BPSD in a general hospital setting during the past 2.5 years were identified and reviewed. Scores from before and after 3 months of treatment with agomelatine were collected for Neuropsychiatric Inventory (NPI), Brief Psychiatric Rating Scale (BPRS), and Clinical Global Impression (CGI) to compare and analyze the difference of psychological and behavioral symptoms pre- and post-agomelatine used. Results: Records of 144 cases of dementia with BPSD who had ever used agomelatine from January 2015 to June 2017 were collected. All of the 112 cases had BPRS and CGI scores, of which 75 cases had additional NPI scores. Among these 112 cases, the BPRS and CGI scores were significantly improved in all types of dementia. NPI scores indicated that the use of agomelatine alleviated obvious symptoms and decreased overall distress, especially in the depression/poor mood, anxiety, and sleep/night behavior. Conclusion: It is consistent with an effective result of agomelatine in improving BPSD.

        Solvothermal Synthesis of Bi2O2CO3 Nanoplates for Efficient Photodegradation of RhB and Phenol under Simulated Solar Light Irradiation

        Monodispersed Bi2O2CO3 nanoplates with an average width of 320 nm and thicknesses of 50–90 nm were successfully synthesized by a simple solvothermal method in a mixture solution of polyethylene glycol and H2O. The obtained nanoplates were characterized by means of XRD, FT-IR, SEM and TEM. The effect of surfactant sodium dodecyl benzene sulfonate on the morphology of Bi2O2CO3 product was investigated. Under simulated solar light irradiation, Bi2O2CO3 nanoplates exhibited superior photocatalytic activities towards the degradation of RhB as well as high chemical stability upon cycling photocatalytic test. The nanoplates also showed promising photodegradation ability for eliminating refractory pollutant of phenol. The excellent photocatalytic performance of Bi2O2CO3 nanoplates as compared with P25-TiO2 endows them as promising high efficiency photocatalysts.

        An investigation on tribological properties of the chemically capped zinc borate(ZB)/MoS2 nanocomposites in oil

        The surface of self-made MoS2 nanosheets with five-layer structure was successively decorated by zinc borate (ZB) nanoparticles with coordination enhancement on the tribological performance and modified by three types of modifiers for improving dispersivity in oil. A series of characterizations determined the chemical modification and composite structure of the ZB/MoS2 nanocomposites. The tribological properties of the chemically capped ZB/MoS2 nanocomposites were extensively examined on a ball-on-ball wear tester. The average friction coefficient and average wear scar diameter of the OA-ZB/MoS2-based oil dropped by about 25.2% and 52.2%, and furthermore the extreme pressure performance increased by about 15.2% compared to oil.

        Urodynamic and Bladder Diary Factors Predict Overactive Bladderwet in Women: A Comparison With Overactive Bladder-dry

        Purpose: To identify factors predicting the presence of overactive bladder syndrome (OAB)-wet, compared with OAB-dry. Methods: Between September 2007 and September 2013, the medical records of 623 women with OAB who completed a 3-day bladder diary and underwent urodynamic studies in a medical center were retrospectively reviewed. OAB-wet was diagnosed in patients who complained of at least one episode of urgency incontinence in the previous month; otherwise, OABdry was diagnosed. Multivariable logistic regression analysis was used to predict the presence of OAB-wet. Results: Age (odds ratio [OR], 1.05; P<0.001), maximal flow rate (Qmax) (OR,1.06; P<0.001), voided volume (OR, 0.996; P=0.001), detrusor pressure at maximal flow rate (PdetQmax) (OR, 1.02; P=0.003), urgency episodes (OR, 1.04; P<0.001) and urodynamic stress incontinence (OR,1.78; P=0.01) were independent predictors for the presence of OAB-wet vs. OABdry. If we use bladder contractility index as a variable for multivariable logistic regression analysis, bladder contractility index (OR, 1.012; P<0.001) become an independent predictor for OAB-wet. Conclusions: A smaller bladder capacity and more frequent urgency episodes were predictors of OAB-wet, and the above findings indicate that OAB-wet and OAB-dry might be a continuum of OAB. Old age, high Qmax, high PdetQmax and urodynamic stress incontinence were also predictors for OAB-wet, and the above results reveal that OAB-wet and OAB-dry have partially different clinical and urodynamic features. Further studies might be performed to elucidate whether different treatment strategies between OAB-dry and OAB-wet can improve treatment efficacy.

        Dielectric and Conductivity Properties of Poly(L-lactide) and Poly(L-lactide)/Ionic Liquid Blends

        Dielectric relaxation spectroscopy (DRS) was employed to study the dielectric and conductivity propertiesof poly(L-lactide) and poly(L-lactide)/ionic liquid (IL) blends. The experimental dielectric data were analyzedwithin the formalism of complex permittivity. The results were discussed in terms of AC conductivity, αN relaxationcorresponding to the longest normal mode motion, α relaxation originating from the segmental mode motion, andDC conductivity. The results revealed that the motion of the polymer chains governs the charge carrier transport. The temperature dependence of the relaxation times follows the Vogel-Tammann-Fulcher (VTF) equation. Theincorporation of IL into the matrix accelerates the segmental (α) and normal mode (αN) motions and the conductivity,and increases the charge carrier movement of IL following the longest αN motion of chains, which led to an increasein the relaxation strength of the αN relaxation.

      • Cervical Cancer Mortality Trends in China, 1991-2013, and Predictions for the Future

        Background: To analyze cervical cancer mortality trends in China from 1991-2013 and forecast the mortality distribution in future five years (2014-2018), and provide clues for prevention and treatment. Materials and Methods: Mortality data for cervical cancer in China from 1991 to 2013 were used to describe the epidemiological characteristics and distribution, including the trend of the standardized mortality rate, urban-rural differences, and age variation. Trend-surface analysis was used to analyze the geographical distribution of mortality. Curve estimation, time series, gray modeling, and joinpoint regression were performed to predict and forecast mortality trends. Results: In recent years, the mortality rate of cervical cancer has increased, and there is also a steady increase in the incidence from 2003 to 2013 in China. Mortality rates in rural areas are higher than in urban areas. The mortality dramatically increases in the 40+ yr age group, reaching a peak in the >85 yr age group. In addition, geographical analysis showed that the cervical cancer mortality increased from the southwest to west-central and from the southeast to northeast of the country. Conclusions: The incidence rate and the mortality rate are increasing from 1991 to 2013, and the predictions show this will continue in the future. Thus, implementation of prevention and management programs for cervical cancer are necessary in China, especially for rural areas, young women in urban areas, and high risk regions (the west-central).
