Hydrophobization of cotton fabric by Gliding Arc plasma discharge

        Pavel Cerny,Petr Bartos,Pavel Olsan,Petr Spatenka 한국물리학회 2019 Current Applied Physics Vol.19 No.2

The surface modification in order to obtain hydrophobic cotton fabrics was carried out using air/HMDSO Gliding Arc plasma discharge. The dependence of the surface wettability on used process parameters, such as air flow, sample distance and treatment time were investigated. The wettability of cotton fabrics was evaluated by the drop test method by measuring the time of droplet absorption and water contact angle (WCA). The changes in the surface morphology were examined by optical microscopy and scanning electron microscopy (SEM). The treated hydrophobic fabrics were subjected to the analysis of chemical composition of the applied coatings using the ATR-FTIR spectroscopy. Hydrophobic cotton fabrics were obtained, especially with a high resistance to static wetting. In addition, the treated cotton fabrics were tested using a spray test measurement and were subjected to multiple washing.

        파벨 시틸(Pavel Chytil),조철우(Cheolwoo Jo),미샤 파벨(Misha Pavel) 한국음성학회 2008 음성과학 Vol.15 No.2

There is a number of clinical conditions that affect directly or indirectly the physical properties of the vocal folds and thereby the pressure waveforms of elicited sounds. If the relationships between the clinical conditions and the voice quality are sufficiently reliable, it should be possible to detect these diseases or disorders. The focus of this paper is to determine the set of features and their values that would characterize the speaker’s state of vocal folds. To the extent that these features can capture the anatomical, physiological, and neurological aspects of the speaker they can be potentially used to mediate an unobtrusive approach to diagnosis. We will show a new approach to this problem supported with results obtained from two disordered voice corpora.

Hidden Staircase Signal in Recent Climate Dynamic

        Pavel Belolipetsky,Sergey Bartsev,Yuliya Ivanova,Mikhail Saltykov 한국기상학회 2015 Asia-Pacific Journal of Atmospheric Sciences Vol.51 No.4

In this study we used HadCRUT4 monthly mean near surface temperature anomalies for 1950-2014 years in order to investigate properties of recent warming. Our aim was to separate changes produced by short-term natural variations and to look on temporal and spatial dynamics of residual temperature anomalies. For this we subtract linear influence of El Nino Southern Oscillation from each grid box of surface temperature measurements. We found that residual global temperature dynamics looks like staircase function: linear trends for three quasi-stable periods 1950-1987, 1988- 1997 and 1998-2014 are near zero and near all warming occurred during two shifts of 1987/1988 and 1997/1998 years. Examples of similar staircase behavior of some climate parameters were found in NCEP/NCAR and NASA MERRA reanalysis data. Staircase signal suggests the existence of some regulation mechanism in climate system. This mechanism should maintain global temperature adjusted for El Nino Southern Oscillation near stable in 1950-1987, 1988- 1997 and 1998-2014 periods nevertheless all the time growing forcing due to anthropogenic greenhouse gases.

Effect of a load shape on load acceleration at the start of an electric hoist

Pavel Vraník 대한기계학회 2013 JOURNAL OF MECHANICAL SCIENCE AND TECHNOLOGY Vol.27 No.7

This contribution describes the effect of a load shape on load acceleration at the start of an electric hoist. The emphasis is on a comparison of acceleration course of loads. Two loads with entirely different shape-a load with a cuboid shape and one with a cylinder shape, were chosen. Improved mathematical theory for the start of an electric hoist with three degrees of freedom is used. Thus, we measured the acceleration of the electric hoist, the wire rope end and the load center of gravity for two loads with different shape.

Multi-output fuzzy inference system for modeling cutting temperature and tool life in face milling

        Pavel Kovac,Dragan Rodic,Vladimir Pucovsky,Borislav Savkovic,Marin Gostimirovic 대한기계학회 2014 JOURNAL OF MECHANICAL SCIENCE AND TECHNOLOGY Vol.28 No.10

This paper proposes a method for cutting parameters identification using the multi-inputs-multi-outputs fuzzy inference system(MIMO-FIS). The fuzzy inference system (FIS) was used to identify the initial values for cutting parameters (cutting speed, feed rate anddepth of cut) and flank wear using cutting temperature and tool life as outputs. The objective was to determine the influence of cuttingparameters on cutting temperature and tool life. The model for determining the cutting temperature and tool life of steel AISI 1060 wastrained (design rules) and tested by using the experimental data. The average deviation of the testing data for tool life was 11.6 %, whilethat of the cutting temperature was 3.28 %. The parameters used in these testing data were different from the data collected for the designrules. The test results showed that the proposed MIMO-FIS model can be used successfully for machinability data selection. The effect ofparameters and their interactions in machining is analyzed in detail and presented in this study.

Sweet Bee Venom Pharmacopuncture May be Effective for Treating Sexual Dysfunction

        Pavel Lee,유준상 대한약침학회 2014 Journal of pharmacopuncture Vol.17 No.3

Sexual dysfunction (SD) is a health problem which occurs during any phase of the sexual response cycle that keeps the individual or couple from experiencing satisfaction from the sexual activity. SD covers a wide variety of symptoms like in men, erectile dysfunction and premature or delayed ejaculation, in women, spasms of the vagina and pain with sexual intercourse, in both sexes, sexual desire and response. And pharmacopuncture, i.e. injection of subclinical doses of drugs, mostly herb medicine, in acupoints, has been adopted with successful results. This case report showed the effect of bee venom on SD. A 51-year-old male patient with SD, who had a past history of taking Western medication to treat his SD and who had previously undergone surgery on his lower back due to a herniated disc, received treatments using pharmacopuncture of sweet bee venom (SBV) at Gwanwon (CV4), Hoeeum (CV1), Sinsu (BL23), and Gihaesu (BL24) for 20 days. Objectively, the patient showed improvement on most items on the International Index for Erectile Dysfunction (IIEF) like 28 to 29 out of perfect score 30 for erectile function, 10 to 10 out of perfect score 10 for orgasmic function, 6 to 8 out of perfect score 10 for sexual desire, 10 to 13 out of perfect score 15 for satisfaction with intercourse, and 6 to 8 out of perfect score 10 for overall satisfaction; subjectively, his words, the tone of his voice and the look of confidence in his eyes all indicated improvement. Among the variety of effects of SBV pharmacopuncture, urogenital problems such as SD may be health problems that pharmacopuncture can treat effectively.

Can Russia keep its special ties with Vietnam while moving closer and closer to China?

Pavel K Baev,Stein Tønnesson 한국외국어대학교 국제지역연구센터 2015 International Area Studies Review Vol.18 No.3

While entering into a deep confrontation with the West in the context of the Ukrainian crisis, Russia has sought to uphold its international profile by upgrading its strategic partnership with China and adding new economic content to it, first of all in energy deals. At the same time, Moscow is aware of the risks related to becoming a minor partner to powerful China and to diminishing its ability to make its own contributions to forming the global agenda. One way of avoiding too much dependence on Chinese patronage would be to retain and cultivate the traditional ties with Vietnam and perhaps even play a pacifying role in the oscillating Chinese- Vietnamese tensions. Russian energy companies are exploring opportunities for further advancing offshore oil and gas projects in the South China Sea, although the profitability of these projects remains rather low. Russia has delivered two out of six contracted Kilo class submarines to Vietnam, but its role as the main provider of weapons may now be challenged by the USA and Japan. The prospects for maintaining or expanding Russia’s security and energy connections with Vietnam is thus a demanding topic for analysis, which may throw light also on the all-important trilateral relationship between China, the USA and Japan.

Electrical and Thermo-mechanical Properties of DGEBA Cycloaliphatic Diamine Nano PA and SiO₂ Composites

        Pavel Trnka,Vaclav Mentlik,Lukas Harvanek,Jaroslav Hornak,Libor Matejka 대한전기학회 2018 Journal of Electrical Engineering & Technology Vol.13 No.6

This study investigates a new organic based material and its dielectric and mechanical properties. It is a comprehensive nanocomposite comprising a combination of various types of nanofillers with hydrophobic silica nanoparticles (AEROSIL R 974) as a matrix modifier and a polyamide nano nonwoven textile, Ultramid-Polyamide 6, pulped in the electrostatic field as a dielectric barrier. The polymer matrix is an epoxy network based on diglycidyl ether of bisphenol A (DGEBA) and cycloaliphatic diamine (Laromine C260). The designed nanocomposite material is an alternative to the conventional three-component composites containing fiberglass and mica with properties that exceed current electroinsulating systems (volume resistivity on the order of 1016 Ω·m, dissipation factor tan δ = 4.7·10-3, dielectric strength 39 ㎸/㎜).

Matrix for Post-Soviet ‘Color Revolutions’: Exorcising the Devil from the Details

Pavel K. Baev 한국외국어대학교 국제지역연구센터 2011 International Area Studies Review Vol.14 No.2

The examined set of uprisings has turned out to be more diverse than often presumed, but both sub-sets – (the one fitting the model of ‘color revolution’ and the one edging towards state failure) – have features that distinguish them as post-Soviet. Even the exemplary ‘Orange Revolution’ in Ukraine is significantly different from the ‘velvet revolutions’ in Central Europe – and from the ‘18 day Revolution’ in Egypt. The particular character of political turmoil in the selected area is coming not only from the common Soviet past that still underpins state-building in these 12 states (plus a few quasi-states) and from the common traumas of the early 1990s (particularly acute in the Caucasus), but is also shaped by the under-development of these state-projects. One common institutional deficiency is military weakness, so the top brass cannot play a key role in deciding the outcome of crises (as, in Egypt). Every political crisis in this area develops with the heavy involvement of Russia but there is also a strong pull of the EU, particularly in the Eastern Neighborhood area.
