Clinical-pathologic profile of head and neck rhabdomyosarcoma in children: a systematic review
Ludimila Lem es Moura(Ludimila Lemes Moura ),Beatriz Della Terra Mouco Garrido(Beatriz Della Terra Mouco Garrido ),Nelson Leonel Del Hierro Polanco(Nelson Leonel Del Hierro Polanco ),Mattheus Augusto 대한구강악안면외과학회 2023 대한구강악안면외과학회지 Vol.49 No.2
This systematic review aimed to analyze the clinicopathological profile and relevant prognostic factors of head and neck rhabdomyosarcoma in pediatric patients. The search was carried out in the electronic search portals PubMed, Lilacs, Embase, Scopus, and Web of Science. The search yielded studies that were then analyzed regarding study topic, data extraction, and risk of bias using the STROBE (Strengthening the Reporting of Observational Studies) guidelines. Finally, three studies were included for qualitative analysis. Most of the cases involved embryonic and alveolar rhabdomyosarcoma. Expression of MYOD1 was highly correlated with diagnosis of spindle cell/sclerosing rhabdomyosarcoma, which appears to have a poor prognosis in children. Furthermore, tumor size <5 cm and absence of metastasis accompanied by complete resection and administration of adjuvant therapies such as chemotherapy and radiotherapy favored a better prognosis.

<P>ABSTRACT</P><P>Effects of ectomycorrhizal (ECM) fungus <I>Suillus tomentosus</I> on water transport properties were studied in jack pine (<I>Pinus banksiana</I>) seedlings. The hydraulic conductivity of root cortical cells (<I>L</I>pc) and of the whole root system (<I>L</I>pr) in ECM plants was higher by twofold to fourfold compared with the non-ECM seedlings. HgCl2 had a greater inhibitory effect on <I>L</I>pc in ECM compared with non-ECM seedlings, suggesting that the mercury-sensitive, aquaporin (AQP)-mediated water transport was largely responsible for the differences in <I>L</I>pc between the two groups of plants. <I>L</I>pc was rapidly and drastically reduced by the 50 m<SMALL>M</SMALL> NaCl treatment. However, in ECM plants, the initial decline in <I>L</I>pc was followed by a quick recovery to the pre-treatment level, while the reduction of <I>L</I>pc in non-ECM seedlings progressed over time. Treatments with fluoride reduced <I>L</I>pc by about twofold in non-ECM seedlings and caused smaller reductions of <I>L</I>pc in ECM plants. When either 2 m<SMALL>M</SMALL> KF or 2 m<SMALL>M</SMALL> NaF were added to the 50 m<SMALL>M</SMALL> NaCl treatment solution, the inhibitory effect of NaCl on <I>L</I>pc was rapidly reversed in both groups of plants. The results suggest that AQP-mediated water transport may be linked to the enhancement of salt stress resistance reported for ECM plants.</P>
Profile of Professionals of the Brazilian Production Sector of Timber Housing
( Victor DE ARAUJO ),( Cesar POLANCO ),( Elen MORALES ),( Juliana CORTEZ-BARBOSA ),( Maristela GAVA ),( Jose GARCIA ) 한국목재공학회 2019 목재공학 Vol.47 No.5
On account of the lack of education of Brazilian worker, this paper analyzed the characteristics of those professionals working in the production sector of timber houses. A sectoral survey was carried out with respective entrepreneurs to investigate the available professionals (career and contract types), evaluate the demands of skilled workers, and indicate solutions to improve the quality of labor qualification. Similarly, over 65% of sampled producers presented both direct-hired and outsourced workforce. For such contract ways, Civil Engineers and Architects were the main careers. Carpenters, Civil Engineers and Architects experienced on timber were the main sectoral demands. Timber Engineers have good potentials of service for this sector. The creation of courses on timber products can emerge as a key alternative to train people.

<P>A 3-dimensional networked molecular cage, NMC-1, has been synthesized. This macrocycle-based framework was prepared from a solvothermal reaction involving a flexible organic building block, calix[4] pyrrole dibenzoic acid (H2L), and Pr(NO3)(3)center dot 6H(2)O. A unique feature of NMC-1 is that it retains free calix[4]pyrrole molecules in the framework pores. Treatment with a fluoride anion source serves to destroy the network and allows release of the organic guest. The net result is a 'molecular ship' in a 'breakable bottle'.</P>
Synthesis, characterization and thermodynamic study of carbon dioxide adsorption on akaganéite
R. Roque-Malherbe,F. Lugo,C. Rivera-Maldonado,R. Polanco-Estrella,O. Uwakweh 한국물리학회 2015 Current Applied Physics Vol.15 No.4
A mixture of akaganéite nanoparticles and sodium salts was synthesized and modified, first by washing, and then by Li exchange. The structural characterization of the produced materials was performed with: powder X-ray diffraction, scanning electron microscopy, energy dispersive X-ray analysis, thermogravimetric analysis, diffuse reflectance infrared Fourier transform spectrometry, Mössbauer spectroscopy and magnetization measurements. Additionally low pressure nitrogen and high pressure carbon dioxide adsorption experiments were performed. The sum of the characterization information made possible to conclude that the produced akaganéite phases crystallized in a structure exhibiting the symmetry of the I2/m space group, where the measured equivalent spherical diameter of the akaganéite crystallites yielded 9 nm, as well, the tested phases exhibited a standard behaviour under heating and displayed a superparamagnetic behaviour. Finally the high pressure carbon dioxide adsorption experiments demonstrated a pressure-responsive framework opening event due to a structural transformation of the adsorbent framework induced by the guest molecules. This fact opens new applications for akaganéite as a high pressure adsorbent.
