        SARSEvaluation of CRISPR-Based Assays for Rapid Detection of SARS-CoV-2: A Systematic Review and Meta-Analysis

        Purpose: Severe acute respiratory syndrome coronavirus 2 (SARS-CoV-2) is the pathogen of coronavirus disease 2019. Diagnosticmethods based on the clustered regularly interspaced short palindromic repeats (CRISPR) have been developed to detect SARSCoV-2 rapidly. Therefore, a systematic review and meta-analysis were performed to assess the diagnostic accuracy of CRISPR fordetecting SARS-CoV-2 infection. Materials and Methods: Studies published before August 2021 were retrieved from four databases, using the keywords “SARS-CoV-2”and “CRISPR.” Data were collected from these publications, and the sensitivity, specificity, negative likelihood ratio (NLR), positivelikelihood ratio (PLR), and diagnostic odds ratio (DOR) were calculated. The summary receiver operating characteristic curve wasplotted for analysis with MetaDiSc 1.4. The Stata 15.0 software was used to draw Deeks’ funnel plots to evaluate publication bias. Results: We performed a pooled analysis of 38 independent studies shown in 30 publications. The reference standard was reversetranscription-quantitative PCR. The results indicated that the sensitivity of CRISPR-based methods for diagnosis was 0.94 (95% CI0.93–0.95), the specificity was 0.98 (95% CI 0.97–0.99), the PLR was 34.03 (95% CI 20.81–55.66), the NLR was 0.08 (95% CI 0.06–0.10), and the DOR was 575.74 (95% CI 382.36–866.95). The area under the curve was 0.9894. Conclusion: Studies indicate that a diagnostic method based on CRISPR has high sensitivity and specificity. Therefore, this wouldbe a potential diagnostic tool to improve the accuracy of SARS-CoV-2 detection.

        Monitoring the photoinduced surface catalytic coupling reaction and environmental exhaust fumes with an Ag/PDA/CuO modified 3D glass microfiber platform

        We demonstrate an efficient plasmon catalytic activity of a newly constructed metal–molecular–semiconductor, SERS substrate Ag/PDA/CuO@GMF. The support of tubular GMF surface and strongadhesion of PDA layer provided a uniform and well-packed distribution of Ag NPs and CuO to derive anefficient surface plasmon catalytic activity of Ag/PDA/CuO@GMF for the conversion of 4-Nitrothiophenol(4-NTP) to 4,40-Dimercaptoazobenzene (4,40-DMAB). Significant surface-enhanced Raman scattering(SERS) signal of 4,40-DMAB and efficient catalytic activities of Ag/PDA/CuO@GMF were related to thecombined cofactors, (a) a long-range electromagnetic effect of Ag NPs and (b) a stimulated chargetransfer due to the presence of CuO and Ag NPs. In addition, charge redistributions among adsorbent 4,40-DMAB and metal segments (Ag and CuO) via PDA played an important role in obtaining enhanced surfaceplasmon induced catalytic activities. Moreover, we utilized the structural properties of the 3D microfiberto enhance the applicability of the substrate. It was further demonstrated that the substrate could be usedto adsorb and detect the gaseous pollutants in the environment, thus providing an effective method forrapid on-site analysis.

        Investigating Medical Cost and Mortality Among Psychiatric Patients Involuntary Admissions: A Nationwide Propensity Score-Matched Study

        Objective Involuntary admission to psychiatric inpatient care can protect both patients with severe mental illnesses and individuals around them. This study analyzed annual healthcare costs per person for involuntary psychiatric admission and examined categories of mental disorders and other factors associated with mortality.Methods This retrospective cohort study collected 1 million randomly sampled beneficiaries from the National Health Insurance Database for 2002–2013. It identified and matched 181 patients with involuntary psychiatric admissions (research group) with 724 patients with voluntary psychiatric admissions (control group) through 1:4 propensity-score matching for sex, age, comorbidities, mental disorder category, and index year of diagnosis.Results Mean life expectancy of patients with involuntary psychiatric admissions was 33.13 years less than the general population. Average annual healthcare costs per person for involuntary psychiatric admissions were 3.94 times higher compared with voluntary admissions. The general linear model demonstrated that average annual medical costs per person per compulsory hospitalization were 5.8 times that of voluntary hospitalization. Survival analysis using the Cox proportional hazards model found no significant association between type of psychiatric admission (involuntary or voluntary) and death.Conclusion This study revealed no significant difference in mortality between involuntary and voluntary psychiatric admissions, indicating involuntary treatment’s effectiveness.

      • The XPD Lys751Gln Polymorphism has Predictive Value in Colorectal Cancer Patients Receiving Oxaliplatin-Based Chemotherapy: a Systemic Review and Meta-analysis

        Background: The predictive value of the xeroderma pigmentosum group D (XPD) Lys751Gln polymorphism regarding clinical outcomes of patients with colorectal cancer (CRC) receiving oxaliplatin-based chemotherapy has been evaluated in numerous published studies, but the results remain inconclusive. Therefore, we performed a meta-analysis to determine the precise role of the XPD Lys751Gln polymorphism in this clinical situation and optimize individual chemotherapy. Materials and Methods: A multiple search strategy was used to identify eligible studies. Pooled odds ratios (ORs), generalized odds ratio (ORG) and their 95% confidence intervals (CIs) were used to estimate the objective response, while hazard ratios (HRs) with 95%CIs were used for progression-free survival (PFS) and overall survival (OS). Results: A total of 17 studies including 2,286 patients met the inclusion criteria. Overall, the XPD 751Gln allele was associated with a non-significant reduced objective response to oxaliplatin-based chemotherapy in all patients or in the Asian and Caucasian subgroups. However, poor PFS and OS of CRC patients treated with oxaliplatin-based regimens were significantly related to the XPD 751Gln allele in the dominant model (PFS: HR=2.10, 95%CI: 1.65-2.67; OS: HR=3.18, 95%CI: 1.57-6.47). On stratified analysis by ethnicity, these relationships were more pronounced in Asians (PFS: HR=2.49, 95%CI: 1.79-3.47; OS: HR=5.25, 95%CI: 3.46-7.94) than in Caucasians (PFS: HR=1.73, 95%CI: 1.22-2.46; OS: HR=1.78, 95%CI: 1.06-2.99). Conclusions: The XPD Lys751Gln polymorphism may have prognostic value in patients with CRC undergoing oxaliplatin-based chemotherapy.

        Background: Although the predictive value of the excision repair cross-complementing group 1 (ERCC1) C118T polymorphism in clinical outcomes of patients with colorectal cancer (CRC) receiving oxaliplatin-based chemotherapy has been evaluated in numerous published studies, the conclusions are conflicting. Therefore, we performed the present meta-analysis to determine the precise role of the ERCC1 C118T polymorphism in this clinical situation and help optimize individual chemotherapy. Materials and Methods: A multiple search strategy was used to identify eligible studies. Pooled odds ratios (ORs) and their 95% confidence intervals (CIs) were used to estimate objective response and oxaliplatin-induced toxicity, with hazard ratios (HRs) with 95%CIs for progression-free survival (PFS) and overall survival (OS). Results: A total of 22 studies including 2,846 CRC patients were eligible in the analysis. Overall, no significant correlation was found between the ERCC1 C118T polymorphism and objective response to oxaliplatin-based chemotherapy, in all patients or in the Asian and Caucasian subgroups. However, the pooled analysis showed that the PFS and OS were significantly shorter in patients who carried T/T or T/C genotypes of ERCC1 C118T as compared to the C/C genotype. On stratified analysis by ethnicity, the ERCC1 118T allele was associated with a favorable prognosis in Caucasians (PFS, HR=0.58, 95%CI: 0.24-1.44; OS, HR=0.38, 95%CI: 0.22-0.64) but an unfavorable prognosis in Asians (PFS, HR=2.49, 95%CI: 1.87-3.33; OS, HR=2.63, 95%CI: 1.87-3.69) based on a dominant model. In addition, we failed to find a statistically significant impact of ERCC1 C118T polymorphism on oxaliplatin-induced toxicity. Conclusions: The ERCC1 C118T polymorphism may have prognostic value in patients with CRC undergoing oxaliplatin-based chemotherapy.

Although the molecular mechanisms for dissemination and infection are unclear, many Gram-negative enteropathogens presumably invade the small intestine via Peyer’s patches to initiate dissemination. In this study, we demonstrate that <I>Y. pseudotuberculosis</I> utilizes its lipopolysaccharide (LPS) core to interact with CD209 receptors, leading to invasion of human dendritic cells (DCs) and murine macrophages. These <I>Y. pseudotuberculosis</I>-CD209 interactions result in bacterial dissemination to MLNs, spleens, and livers of both wild-type and Peyer’s patch-deficient mice. The blocking of the <I>Y. pseudotuberculosis</I>-CD209 interactions by expression of O-antigen and with oligosaccharides reduces infectivity. Based on the well-documented studies in which HIV-CD209 interaction leads to viral dissemination, we therefore propose an infection route for <I>Y. pseudotuberculosis</I> where this pathogen, after penetrating the intestinal mucosal membrane, hijacks the <I>Y. pseudotuberculosis</I>-CD209 interaction antigen-presenting cells to reach their target destinations, MLNs, spleens, and livers.</P>

        Molecular Gas Feeding the Circumnuclear Disk of the Galactic Center

        <P>The interaction between a supermassive black hole (SMBH) and the surrounding material is of primary importance in modern astrophysics. The detection of the molecular 2 pc circumnuclear disk (CND) immediately around the Milky Way SMBH, SgrA*, provides a unique opportunity to study SMBH accretion at subparsec scales. Our new wide-field CS(J = 2 - 1) map toward the Galactic center (GC) reveals multiple dense molecular streamers that originated from the ambient clouds 20 pc further out, and that are connected to the central 2 pc of the CND. These dense gas streamers appear to carry gas directly toward the nuclear region and might be captured by the central potential. Our phase-plot analysis indicates that these streamers show a signature of rotation and inward radial motion with progressively higher velocities as the gas approaches the CND and finally ends up corotating with the CND. Our results might suggest a possible mechanism of gas feeding the CND from 20 pc around 2 pc in the GC. In this paper, we discuss the morphology and the kinematics of these streamers. As the nearest observable Galactic nucleus, this feeding process may have implications for understanding the processes in extragalactic nuclei.</P>

        본 논문의 목적은 첫째, 한 교통수단으로서의 중국 고속철도가 개통된 때부터의 발전과정과 현황 그리고 이에 대한 경제적 영향에 대하여 분석함으로써 중국 고속철도의 건설 및 수출의 중요성을 제시하여 향후 중국 고속철도의 발전에 일조하는데 있다. 둘째, 고속철도의 건설과 운영은 연선지역에 가져온 경제효과는 주로 지역경제성장을 촉진하고, 도시사업구조를 개선하고, 지역 경제 일체화를 가속화하고, 취업을 증가시키고, 지역 간 경제적 격차를 축소하고, 국토규형 발전을 실현하게 할 것이다. 셋째, 중국 내륙고속철도망이 중국 7대 경제권을 연결하여 ‘1시간 경제권’ 또는 ‘1일경제권’가 형성되게 함에 따라 통근취업, 산업분포, 사회문화의 동성화 형상이 나타난다. 따라서 지역경제의 일체화가 이뤄질 것이다. 넷째, 중국 고속철도의 건설은 여러 산업발전의 계기로 되었다. 고속철도의 건설공사와 고속철도 차량의 생산은 철강산업, 기계산업, 전자설비산업, 정보통신업, 첨단기술산업 등 다양한 영역에 귀착된다. 다섯째, 고속철도의 탄생은 전통적인 운송방식의 탁월한 혁신이다. 고속철도의 좁은 노반과 작은 터미널은 토지자원을 절약한다. 고속철도 차량 자체의 경량화로 인해 건설재료를 절약한다. 마지막으로 중국정부의 핵심국가 발전전략인 ‘일대일로’로 인해 중국은 세계고속철도의 건설에 참여하였다. 중국 고속철도의 수출은 국제 고속철도시장의 이뤄짐에 도움을 주고 유럽과 아시아의 경제와 무역 구조에 영향을 미쳐 세계경제 일체화에 유리하다. 또한 중국 고속철도의 수출은 발전도상국들의 글로벌화에 기회를 제공하여 공동 변영을 실현할 것을 예상한다. 본 논문은 중국 고속철도의 경제적 효과에 대한 분석과 중국 고속철도 전반적인 발전과정 및 현황에 대한 분석에 대해 중국 현지 자료를 중심으로 분석하고, 경제적 영향을 제시했다는 점에서 의미가 있지만 자료의 취득이 어려워서 추론을 통해서만 분석을 전개하는 점이 부족하다. 또한 경제적인 데이터 분석 모형을 활용하지 못하고 타인의 신문조사에서 선별하여 직접 사용하는 것은 한계점으로 남는다. 향후에는 더 자세한 통계자료로 중국 고속철도의 건설에 따른 경제적 영향에 대한 실증분석이 이루어져야 할 것이다.         중국 애니메이션산업의 수출증대방안에 관한 연구

        본 논문은 한, 중, 일 3국의 애니메이션 산업을 비교분석하여 중국 애니메이션산업의 현황과 문제점을 파악하고 중국 애니메이션산업의 해외 시장 수출 증대 방안을 찾는 목적을 둔다. 이런 목적을 실현하기 위해서 애니메이션의 개념과 특징 등 이론적 배경을 살펴보고 나서, 문헌연구 방법으로 한, 일, 중국 애니메이션산업의 논문 서적을 통해서 문헌자료의 정리 및 사례의 분석을 바탕으로 중국 애니메이션의 수출 증대방안을 제시하였다. 수출 증대 방안 내용으로는 첫째, 애니메이션 작품의 이익을 최대로 얻을 수 있고 파생작품을 다각적으로 생길 수 있기 위해서 산업 사슬을 개선해야 한다. 둘째, 애니메이션 산업의 전문 인력을 양성해야 한다. 셋째, 정부 측면에서는 애니메이션산업에 관한 법 및 제도를 보완해야 한다. 먼저 애니메이션산업과 제작자 보호를 위해서는 정부가 적극적인 자금과 정책으로 지지해야 하고 외국과의 정부의 합작관련 법규를 완화하고 적극적인 개방 정책이 필요하다. 넷째, 중국문화역사에 맞게 국제시장에서도 받아들일 수 있는 독특한 캐릭터를 개발할 필요가 있다. 다섯째, 홈페이지와 모바일 매체 등을 활용한 중국 애니메이션의 적극적인 홍보가 필요하다. 여섯째, 국제 교류를 강화하여 국제 공동제작으로 해외시장에 수출될 것이다.
