Image-based extrusion with realistic surface wrinkles

Anouar Ragragui,Adnane Ouazzani Chahdi,Akram Halli,Khalid Satori 한국CDE학회 2020 Journal of computational design and engineering Vol.7 No.1

Per-pixel extrusion mapping is an image-based modeling and rendering technique that can be used in a large variety of computer graphic applications. This technique makes it possible to create geometries without polygonal meshes by extrusion of a basic form stored in a 2D binary image. It is available in four versions: basic extrusion, outward extrusion, beveled extrusion, and chamfered extrusion, and all allow the production of satisfactory results in terms of interactivity or visual quality. The problem is that the extruded surfaces do not exhibit microrelief effects and have a lack of realistic superficial wrinkles. To solve this problem, we proposed in this paper a combination of the per-pixel extrusion mapping and the bump mapping in order to add a microrelief effect to extruded surfaces without changing the basic geometry. For the real-time synchronization between the depth scaling of the microreliefs and the resulting shading, we proposed to use a scale factor to further disturb the normal in a function of depths.

PARAMETRIC EQUATIONS OF SPECIAL CURVES LYING ON A REGULAR SURFACE IN EUCLIDEAN 3-SPACE

Abderrazzak El Haimi,Amina Ouazzani Chahdi 경남대학교 기초과학연구소 2021 Nonlinear Functional Analysis and Applications Vol.26 No.2

In this paper, we determine position vector of a line of curvature of a regular surface which is relatively normal-slant helix, with respect to Darboux frame. Then, a vector differential equation is established by means Darboux formulas, in the case of the geodesic torsion is vanishes. In terms of solution, we determine the parametric representation of a line of curvature which is relatively normal-slant helix, with respect to standard frame in Euclidean 3-space. Thereafter, we apply this result to find the position vector of a line of curvature which is isophote curve.

Effect of growing media on morpho-physiological quality attributes of Tetraclinis articulata seedlings

        El Haddadi Rachid,El Mekkaoui Abdelalli,Zouahri Abdelmjid,Ouazzani Touhami Amina,Douira Allal 한국산림과학회 2022 Forest Science And Technology Vol.18 No.3

Tetraclinis articulata (Vahl.) Master or thuya is facing several constraints to its successful nat- ural regeneration in Morocco. Containerized seedlings plantation is the only method adopted in thuya forest restoration programs and post-transplant water stress produces high seedling mortality after the first summer following outplanting. There is thus a real need to improve nursery seedlings quality, especially enhancing the growth of the root sys- tem by improving the water holding capacity of the root plug. Our aim was to assess the effects of clay on the water holding capacity of the growing media and on various morpho- logical and physiological traits of T. articulata seedlings in the nursery. T.articula seedlings were raised in nursery using nine composite substrates; seedlings quality was evaluated according to their morpho-physiological and performance attributes. This investigation determined that a clay content of 20–25% constitutes an optimum for obtaining seedlings with a good root growth potential and high root viability. Excessive clay content in the growing media resulted in water-logged root plug decreasing root growth potential. This investigation found that morphological attribute as Root Collar Diameter and Root/Shoot ratio could be considered good predictors of Root Growth Potential.

Antiangiogenic-Like Properties of Fermented Extracts of Ayurvedic Medicinal Plants

        Che´rif Rabhi,Guillaume Arcile,Le´on Cariel,Christine Lenoir,Je´rome Bignon,Joanna Wdzieczak-Bakala,Jamal Ouazzani 한국식품영양과학회 2015 Journal of medicinal food Vol.18 No.9

The three ayurvedic medicinal plants, Withania somnifera, Emblica officinalis, and Bacopa monnieri, were extracted by high-pressure static extraction using the Zippertex® technology. The extracts were mixed to reach quantifiable amounts of active compounds identified by high-pressure liquid chromatography-mass spectrometry (HPLC-MS) analysis. The mixture of extracts was incubated with resting cells of the fungus Beauveria bassiana ATCC 7159. The fermentation promoted the fluidization of the starting dense mixture, while HPLC monitoring evidenced the disappearance of glucogallin from E. officinalis extract and the concomitant increase in gallic acid content. Topical exposure of the chick embryo chorioallantoic membrane (CAM) to the nonfermented extract led to the extensive necrosis and destruction of the treated membrane. However, the fermented extract was shown to be free of any toxicity. Furthermore, compared with the untreated CAM, the fermented sample reduced CAM vascularization, suggesting its antiangiogenic potency. The innocuity of the fermented extract was demonstrated using the in vivo LD50 test, the morphological examination of internal organs of treated rats, as well as the evaluation of blood biomarkers of liver damage (aspartate aminotransferase and alanine aminotransferase). The fermented extract was developed as a nutraceutical antiangiogenic treatment of age-related macular degeneration and commercialized in an oral form named Ethnodyne-Visio™.
