3D Magnetic Analysis of Permanent Magnets in Spherical Configuration

Oner, Yusuf,Kesler, Selami The Korean Institute of Electrical Engineers 2016 Journal of Electrical Engineering & Technology Vol.11 No.1

The present study aims to increase the amount of surface flux by changing the magnetic directions of a spherical magnet (NdFeB) consisting of four poles. For this purpose, the magnetic directions of quartile spherical slices constituting the spherical magnet are manipulated and their three-dimensional analyses are carried out by using finite-element method via Maxwell environment. The analysis of the magnetic quartile spheres with four different magnetic directions are compared to the each other, and then the quartile sphere with the best surface flux distribution is suggested for rotor structure. It is clear emphasized that the induced torque of the spherical motor, in which such a rotor is used, will be improved as well.

Effect of Thermal Compression Treatment on the Surface Hardness, Vertical Density Propile and Thickness Swelling of Eucalyptus Wood Boards by Hot-pressing

        Oner Unsal,Zeki Candan,Umit Buyuksari,Suleyman Korkut,Yoon Seong Chang,Hwan Myeong Yeo 한국목재공학회 2011 목재공학 Vol.39 No.2

Thermal treatment techniques are used for modifying wood and wood-based materials to improve dimensional stability and hygroscopicity. This study investigated the effects of press pressure and temperature on density, vertical density profile, thickness swelling and surface hardness of eucalyptus wood boards. The experimental wood boards were prepared from Turkish River Gum (Eucalyptus camaldulensis Dehn.). The surface hardness value increased with increasing press pressure in the treated groups. The application of a higher pressure at the same temperature level increased the amount of swelling of wood. It means that it is not needed for application of higher pressure to enhance the dimensional stability of wood. It is expected that it is possible to produce increased hardness, dimensional stability and durability by application of hot pressing treatment. This research showed that different press pressure and temperature values should be used to improve the performance properties of eucalyptus wood so that the end-use of the wood materials could be expanded.

Analytical solution of a contact problem and comparison with the results from FEM

        Oner, Erdal,Yaylaci, Murat,Birinci, Ahmet Techno-Press 2015 Structural Engineering and Mechanics, An Int'l Jou Vol.54 No.4

This paper presents a comparative study of analytical method and finite element method (FEM) for analysis of a continuous contact problem. The problem consists of two elastic layers loaded by means of a rigid circular punch and resting on semi-infinite plane. It is assumed that all surfaces are frictionless and only compressive normal tractions can be transmitted through the contact areas. Firstly, analytical solution of the problem is obtained by using theory of elasticity and integral transform techniques. Then, finite element model of the problem is constituted using ANSYS software and the two dimensional analysis of the problem is carried out. The contact stresses under rigid circular punch, the contact areas, normal stresses along the axis of symmetry are obtained for both solutions. The results show that contact stresses and the normal stresses obtained from finite element method (FEM) provide boundary conditions of the problem as well as analytical results. Also, the contact areas obtained from finite element method are very close to results obtained from analytical method; disagree by 0.03-1.61%. Finally, it can be said that there is a good agreement between two methods.

An Unusual Pattern of All Three Coronary Arteries Originating from a Single Coronary Artery Arising from the Right Sinus of Valsalva

        Isa Oner Yuksel,Sakir Arslan,Nermin Bayar,Selcuk Kucukseymen,Erkan Koklu,Bekir Erol 대한심장학회 2014 Korean Circulation Journal Vol.44 No.2

Anomalous origin of coronary arteries is generally asymptomatic and a rare disease. However, some cases can cause severe life-threateningevents such as myocardial ischemia, arrhythmia, and acute myocardial infarction. We describe a case of a single coronary artery arisingfrom the right sinus of Valsalva in a 48-year-old female patient with a complaint of stable angina pectoris and palpitations. Coronary an-giography revealed that all three coronary arteries arose from the right sinus. Coronary CT angiography confirmed that there was ananomalous origin of the left coronary artery arising from the right sinus of Valsalva. The patient was managed with conservative treatment.

        BL-ALGEBRAS DEFINED BY AN OPERATOR

        Tahsin Oner,Tugce Katican,Arsham Borumand Saeid 호남수학회 2022 호남수학학술지 Vol.44 No.2

In this paper, Sheffer stroke BL-algebra and its properties are investigated. It is shown that a Cartesian product of two Sheffer stroke BL-algebras is a Sheffer stroke BL-algebra. After describing a filter of Sheffer stroke BL-algebra, a congruence relation on a Sheffer stroke BL-algebra is defined via its filter, and quotient of a Sheffer stroke BL-algebra is constructed via a congruence relation. Also, it is defined a homomorphism between Sheffer stroke BL-algebras and is presented its properties. Thus, it is stated that the class of Sheffer stroke BL-algebras forms a variety.

Mechanical and Thermal Properties of Knitted Fabrics Produced from Various Fiber Types

        E. Oner 한국섬유공학회 2019 Fibers and polymers Vol.20 No.11

Although there are several parameters affecting fabric behavior, one of the most important factors that determinesthe fabric properties is the fiber type and its features. Many types of natural and chemical fibers can be used according to theusage areas and expected performance characteristics from the fabrics. Therefore, it has great importance to know the effectsof fiber types, which have different sources, structures and properties, on the fabric properties. In this study, the performanceand thermal comfort properties of nine different knitted fabrics made from natural, regenerated and synthetic fibers wereinvestigated. Within this scope, air permeability, abrasion resistance, bursting strength, thermal properties such as thermalconductivity, thermal diffusivity, thermal resistance and thermal absorptivity of knitted fabrics made from different fibertypes were measured. In general, it is concluded that the characteristic properties of the fibers are important in determiningthe mechanical and thermal properties of the fabrics.

      • Neoadjuvant Treatment with Preoperative Radiotherapy for Extremity Soft Tissue Sarcomas: Long-Term Results from a Single Institution in Turkey

Dincbas, Fazilet Oner,Oksuz, Didem Colpan,Yetmen, Ozlem,Hiz, Murat,Dervisoglu, Sergulen,Turna, Hande,Kantarci, Fatih,Mandel, Nil Molinas,Koca, Sedat Asian Pacific Journal of Cancer Prevention 2014 Asian Pacific journal of cancer prevention Vol.15 No.4

Background: To assess the long term clinical outcome of preoperative radiotherapy with or without chemotherapy followed by limb sparing surgery in patients with non-metastatic soft tissue sarcomas (STS) of the extremities. Materials and Methods: Sixty patients with locally advanced STS were retrospectively analyzed. The median tumor diameter was 12 cm. All patients were treated with preoperative radiotherapy delivered with two different fractionation schedules (35Gy/10fr or 46-50Gy/23-25fr). Neoadjuvant chemotherapy was added to 44 patients with large and/or high grade tumors. Surgery was performed 2-6 weeks after radiotherapy. Chemotherapy was completed up to 6 courses after surgery in patients who had good responses. Results: Median follow-up time was 67 months (8-268 months). All of the patients had limb sparing surgery. The 5-year local control (LC), disease free (DFS) and overall survival (OSS) rates for all of the patients were 81%, 48.1% and 68.3% respectively. 5-year LC, DFS and cause specific survival (CSS) were 81.7%, 47%, 69.8%, and 80%, 60%, 60% in the chemoradiotherapy and radiotherapy groups, respectively. On univariate analysis, patients who were treated with hypofractionation experienced significantly superior LC, DFS and CSS rates with similar rates of late toxicity when compared with patients who were treated with conventional fractionation and statistical significance was retained on multivariate analysis. Conclusions: Treatment results are consistent with the literature. As neoadjuvant chemoradiotherapy provides effective LC and CSS with acceptable morbidity, it should be preferred for patients with large and borderline resectable STS.

Giant Vertebral Notochordal Rest: Magnetic Resonance and Diffusion Weighted Imaging Findings

        Ali Yusuf Oner,Sergin Akpek,Turgut Tali,Murat Ucar 대한영상의학회 2009 Korean Journal of Radiology Vol.10 No.3

A giant vertebral notochordal rest is a newly described, benign entity that is easily confused with a vertebral chordoma. As microscopic notochordal rests are rarely found in adult autopsies, the finding of a macroscopic vertebral lesion is a new entity with only seven previously presented cases. We report here radiological findings, including diffusion weighted images, of a patient with a giant notochordal remnant confined to the L5 vertebra, with an emphasis on its distinction from a chordoma.

A study on the correlation between spleen volume estimated via cavalieri principle on computed tomography images with basic hemogram and biochemical blood parameters

        Necati Emre Sahin,Zulal Oner,Serkan Oner,Muhammed Kamil Turan 대한해부학회 2022 Anatomy & Cell Biology Vol.55 No.1

Considering its hematological and immunological functions, spleen is a very important organ. A change occurs in its size as the spleen performs these functions. This study aims to examine the possible relationships between spleen volume and the basic hemogram and biochemical parameters in serum. Multidetector computed tomography images and basic hemogram and biochemical parameters of 74 adult individuals, 34 male and 40 female, who were found to be healthy, were used in the study. Spleen volume was estimated using the Cavalieri method on multidetector computed tomography images and the correlations between the volume value with basic hemogram and biochemistry parameters were researched. While negative significant correlations were found between the estimated spleen volume and lymphocyte percentage (r=-0.224) and platelet level (r=-0.271); positive significant correlations were found between hemoglobin level (r=0.228), hematocrit level (r=0.237), alanine aminotransferase (r=0.345), and erythrocyte level (r=0.375). As a result of this study, a relationship was found between spleen volume and lymphocyte percentage, hematocrit level, erythrocyte level, platelet level, and alanine aminotransferase level in serum. We believe that the results of the study will provide a larger perspective to clinicians in the diagnosis of diseases associated with spleen.
