Physico-chemical properties of late-incubation egg amniotic fluid and a potential in ovo feed supplement

        A.A. Omede,M.M. Bhuiyan,A.F. Islam,P.A. Iji 아세아·태평양축산학회 2017 Animal Bioscience Vol.30 No.8

Objective: This study explored the physico-chemical properties of late-incubation egg amniotic fluid and a potential in ovo feed (IOF) supplement. Methods: Amniotic fluid was collected from broiler breeders (Ross 308, 51 weeks and Cobb 500, 35 weeks) on day 17 after incubation. A mixture of high-quality soy protein supplement – Hamlet Protein AviStart (HPA) was serially diluted in MilliQ water to obtain solutions ranging from 150 to 9.375 mg/mL. The mixtures were heat-treated (0, 30, 60 minutes) in a waterbath (80°C) and then centrifuged to obtain supernatants. The amniotic fluid and HPA supernatants were analysed for their physico-chemical properties. Results: Only viscosity and K+ were significantly (p<0.05) different in both strains. Of all essential amino acids, leucine and lysine were in the highest concentration in both strains. The osmolality, viscosity and pCO2 of the supernatants decreased (p<0.05) with decreasing HPA concentration. Heat treatment significantly (p<0.05) affected osmolality, pH, and pCO2, of the supernatants. The interactions between HPA concentration and heat treatment were significant with regards to osmolality (p<0.01), pH (p<0.01), pCO2 (p<0.05), glucose (p<0.05), lactate (p<0.01) and acid-base status (p<0.01) of HPA solutions. The Ca2+, K+, glucose, and lactate increased with increasing concentration of HPA solution. The protein content of HPA solutions decreased (p<0.05) with reduced HPA solution concentrations. The supernatant from 150 mg/mL HPA solution was richest in glutamic acid, aspartic acid, arginine and lysine. Amino acids concentrations were reduced (p<0.05) with each serial dilution but increased with longer heating. Conclusion: The values obtained in the primary solution (highest concentration) are close to the profiles of high-protein ingredients. This supplement, as a solution, hence, may be suitable for use as an IOF supplement and should be tested for this potential.

Influence of dietary supplementation of autolyzed whole yeast and yeast cell wall products on broiler chickens

Ahiwe, Emmanuel Uchenna,Abdallh, Medani Eldow,Chang'a, Edwin Peter,Omede, Apeh Akwu,Al-Qahtani, Mohammed,Gausi, Harriet,Graham, Hadden,Iji, Paul Ade Asian Australasian Association of Animal Productio 2020 Animal Bioscience Vol.33 No.4

Objective: This study evaluated the effect of yeast products on growth performance, visceral organ weights, endogenous enzyme activities, ileal nutrient digestibility and meat yield of broiler chickens fed diets containing autolyzed whole yeast (WY) and yeast cell walls (YCW) at varying levels of inclusion. Methods: Nine dietary treatments consisting of WY or YCW included at 0.5, 1.0, 1.5, or 2.0 g/kg diet and a control diet without yeast supplementation was used in the experiment. Each of the nine treatments was replicated six times with nine birds per replicate. Birds were housed in cages, in climate-controlled rooms and fed starter, grower and finisher diets. Results: There was an improvement (p<0.05) in body weight gain and feed conversion ratio on d 10, 24, and 35 for birds fed 1.0 to 2.0 g/kg WY or YCW diet. Small intestine weight was heavier on d 10 and 24 for birds on higher levels of WY and YCW compared to the control group. On d 10 and 24, there was a significant increase (p<0.05) in tissue protein content and pancreatic enzyme activities (trypsin and chymotrypsin) of birds on 1.5 to 2.0 g/kg WY and YCW diets compared to the control group. Compared to the control group, birds on WY (2.0 g/kg diet) and YCW (at 1.5 and 2.0 g/kg diet) had better (p<0.05) protein digestibility on d 24. On d 35, there was significant improvement (p<0.05) in percentage of carcass, absolute and relative breast weight for broiler chickens fed WY and YCW mostly at 2 g/kg diet compared to birds on the control diet. Conclusion: Supplementation of diets with autolyzed WY and YCW products especially at 1.5 to 2.0 g/kg diet improved broiler chicken performance and meat yield through their positive effects on ileal protein digestibility and pancreatic enzyme activities.

Construction of Cr2O3 :ZnO Nanostructured Thin Film Prepared by Pulsed Laser Deposition Technique for NO2 Gas Sensor

        Mahdi H. Suhail,Ismael K. Adehmash,Saadoon M. Abdul Kareem,Dana A. Tahir,Omed Gh. Abdullah 한국전기전자재료학회 2020 Transactions on Electrical and Electronic Material Vol.21 No.4

Rhombohedral structure of chromium oxide (Cr 2 O 3 ) thin-fi lm doped hexagonal zinc oxide (ZnO) nanoparticles have been prepared using pulsed laser deposition technique at a diff erent weight percent of ZnO from 0 to 9 wt%. The results of X-ray diffraction analysis shown that the doped fi lms are polycrystalline, and the average crystallite size of the synthesized thin films is found to be dependent on the ZnO concentration. The surface morphology of the prepared thin fi lms was characterized by atomic force microscopy. The optical properties are investigated using ultraviolet–visible light (UV–Vis) absorption spectroscopy. The optical bandgap ranged from 2.45 to 2.68 eV, showing the shift towards longer-wavelength compared to bulk Cr 2 O 3 (~ 3 eV). The sensitivity, response, and recovery times of the sensor towards nitrogen dioxide (NO 2 ) gas were studied and discussed. The sensitivity increase with increasing the doping concentration, and started to decrease when ZnO concentrations reach 7 wt%. The optimal ZnO concentrations for NO 2 gas sensitivity is 5 wt%, which attain maximum sensitivity of 87.5% at temperature of 523 K.
