Simple and low-cost method for the measurement of inter-vehicle distance has been developed. Proposed method is based on geometric similarity between an object on the rear surface of a vehicle and its image on image sensor. Size of the object should be well-known or be informed using visible light communication. This time, a license plate was used as the object during the day, and a distance between tail lamps was used during the night. After image processing, the size or length of the objects on the image sensor was computed. Thus, inter-vehicle distance was expressed as a product of similitude ratio and focal length of a digital imaging device. Distance measurements were performed from 2 to 15 m at day and night. Using this method, less than 5% error ratios have been obtained at almost all of measurement points. Results indicate that the method would be an alternative of established ranging methods for driving safety support systems.

This paper presents a two-switch boost chopper with a sinewave current shaping and power factor correction scheme, which is applied for driving electronic ballast using high frequency resonant inverter.<br/> A working principle of the proposed one-converter type electronic ballast with power factor correction and active filtering schemes is described on the bases of the equivalent circuit of each operation mode, together with operation analysis. The steady-state performance evaluations of this electronic ballast are illustrated and discussed in experiment.<br/>

High-speed telecommunication systems are influenced by electromagnetic environments because they need a wide bandwidth to transmit signals. Immunity tests of telecommunication equipment are effective for improving its immunity to electromagnetic environments. However, immunity tests are expensive to carry out because there are several different tests. The correlation among the tests should therefore be examined in order to reduce the kinds of tests that are necessary. This paper investigates the correlation between the electrical fast transient/burst (EFTB) test and the radio frequency (RF) conductive immunity test. Imitation equipment was constructed with a balun, and a baseband signal was transmitted from the associated equipment to the imitation equipment. Then, disturbances were applied to the equipment, and the telecommunication quality was evaluated by using the bit error rate (BER). The results from the EFTB test indicated that the BER was less than 6×10?5 and the value was independent of the peak value. The results from the RF conductive immunity test indicated that the BER was affected by the longitudinal conversion loss (LCL).
J-PARC Linac Facilities and their Features
Nobuo Ouchi 한국물리학회 2006 THE JOURNAL OF THE KOREAN PHYSICAL SOCIETY Vol.48 No.4
The Japan Proton Accelerator Complex (J-PARC), which consists of a 600-MeV linac, a 3-GeV rapid cycling synchrotron, a 50-GeV synchrotron and experimental facilities, is not only one of the most powerful proton accelerators in the world but also a multipurpose accelerator for neutron science, muon science, nuclear and elementary particle physics, and nuclear engineering. The linac building and its conventional facilities were designed and constructed carefully in consideration of stable operation and further upgrade. The linac building, which has two stories above ground and two stories below ground, was completed in April, 2005. The conventional facilities were also completed in August 2005. The installation of the accelerator began in April 2005. The ion source, the radio-frequency quadrupole linac (RFQ), the drift tube linac (DTL) tanks, the medium energy beam transport between the RFQ and the DTL (MEBT1), and the beam transport to the 3-GeV synchrotron have already been installed. Installation of the separated-type drift tube linac (SDTL) tanks and the RF system are being continued. This paper describes the J-PARC linac facilities and their features in terms of the building and conventional facilities, as well as the present status of the linac installation.
Evaluation of Transmission Quality of Visible Light Communication using Bit Error Rate Measurement
Nobuo Sasaki,Hiroki Shimada,Syunpei Shimada,Hiroki Kobayashi 제어로봇시스템학회 2016 제어로봇시스템학회 국제학술대회 논문집 Vol.2016 No.10
In this paper, a bit error rate testing system has been developed and the transmission quality of visible light communication was studied. An optimization of reference voltage of the comparator was performed. A measured bit error rate was less than 107 without a disturbance light. This result indicates that the developed system is applicable in indoor communication. A bit error rate clearly became worse when the disturbance light was inserted. The results showed that this testing system is possible to evaluate quantitatively the effect of disturbance light. Signal to noise ratio (SNR) at the input of comparator was calculated, and measured bit error rate was plotted versus SNR. However, a difference between measurement and theoretical curve was observed. To reduce this difference, the review of noise source and the improvement of the mounting method for transmitter/receiver, will be required.
