Characterization Method of Electric Field Probe by Using Transfer Standard in GTEM Cell
No-Weon Kang,Jin-Seob Kang,Dae-Chan Kim,Jeong-Hwan Kim,Joo-Gwang Lee IEEE 2009 IEEE transactions on instrumentation and measureme Vol.58 No.4
<P>In this paper, we introduce a simple and wideband characterization method for electric field probes using a transfer standard. As a transfer standard, a thin disk-type reference probe that can operate from 50 to 1000 MHz is used and calibrated using a micro transverse electromagnetic (mu-TEM) cell. A gigahertz transverse electromagnetic (GTEM) cell is used to generate a reference electric field. It has been shown that the uncertainty of the proposed method can be increased due to the imperfection of the field condition in the cell. According to the measurement result, the proposed characterization method for the electric probes agrees within 6.3%, compared with the method that uses the TEM cell and standard antennas in a fully anechoic chamber.</P>
Fabrication of Small Reference Probe and Its Application
Kang, No-Weon,Kang, Jin-Seob,Kim, Dae-Chan,Kim, Jeong-Hwan Institute of Electrical and Electronics Engineers 2007 IEEE transactions on instrumentation and measureme Vol.56 No.2
<P> This paper presents a disk-type small reference probe operating up to 1 GHz as an electric field transfer sensor. The probe is calibrated using a <TEX>$\mu$</TEX>-TEM cell and demonstrates a wide useable electric field strength range. Design and calibration methods are presented. The probe is suitable for testing and comparing the performances of reference field generation systems, both TEM cells and antennas. As an application, a technique for measuring the antenna gain is proposed and applied to open-ended waveguide antennas. </P>

The objective of this study is to find the differences between EnergyPlus and Korean web-based energy performance assessment tool by comparing heating load. A practical apartment house was modeled in EnergyPlus and web-based tool, and simulated changing the various conditions such as building area, balcony, air exchange rate, u-value, window area, and building direction. The basic model, south directed apartment house without balcony, showed 30.9% of relative difference between E+ and web-based tool. The heating load in E+ was significantly influenced by solar heat gain because the result of no window model showed good agreement with E+ and web-based tool. Also heating load change rate of two tools showed similarity when u-value conditions were changed. And with respect to balcony and window-wall ratio condition, two tools showed different results. When the air exchange rate were changed, heating load of E+ were more sensitive than web-based tool.
RF and Microwave Power Standards from 10 MHz to 40 GHz over Decades
Tae-Weon Kang,Jae-Yong Kwon,Jeong-Il Park,No-Weon Kang 한국전자파학회JEES 2018 Journal of Electromagnetic Engineering and Science Vol.18 No.2
Radio frequency (RF) and microwave power is one of the key quantities in the framework of electromagnetic measurement standards. Therefore, the stability of the power standard is essential to users’ reliable measurements in various areas. Coaxial and waveguide thermistor mounts are used as transfer standards of RF and microwave power. Over decades, the effective efficiencies of thermistor mounts have been measured using coaxial and waveguide microcalorimeters in the frequency range of 10 MHz–40 GHz. The measurement uncertainty of the effective efficiency is evaluated. Results show that the power standards have been well maintained within the measurement uncertainty.
A Thermal Noise Measurement System for Noise Temperature Standards in <tex> $W$</tex>-Band
Tae-Weon Kang,Jeong-Hwan Kim,No-Weon Kang,Jin-Seob Kang Institute of Electrical and Electronics Engineers 2015 IEEE Transactions on Instrumentation and Measureme Vol. No.
<P>A W-band waveguide noise measurement system has been developed for noise temperature (NT) standards. The system consists of two standard noise sources and a waveguide radiometer. A horn-type cryogenic noise source operating at the liquid nitrogen temperature and an ambient temperature termination have been employed as standard noise sources. To measure noise power radiated from the noise sources including a device under test, a total-power waveguide radiometer has been constructed and its performance has been evaluated. Measured NT of a commercial waveguide noise source is presented with the measurement uncertainty of 0.10-0.13 dB (k = 2) in W-band.</P>

Objective: This study evaluated the efficacy of the second line chemotherapeutic regimens in persistent or recurrent epithelial ovarian cancer (EOC) by analyzing the multicenter medical data retrospectively. Methods: We reviewed clinical data of 398 persistent or recurrent EOC/PPC patients treated with second-line chemotherapy between January 2006 and December 2016. And patients were divided into three groups, platinum resistant (less than 6 months), platinum-partially sensitive (6 to 12 month) and platinum sensitive group (over 12 months), based on the first recurrence time; also the second line chemotherapeutic regimen was identified in each group. Then the duration of recurrence after the completion of second-line chemotherapy was measured and the progression-free survival (PFS) according to the second line chemotherapeutic regimen was compared. Results: The study consisted of 222 eligible and assessable patients, median age 53 years, 69 (31.1%) were platinum-resistant, 66 (29.7%) were platinum-partial sensitive and 87 (39.2%) were platinum-sensitive group. There were no significant PFS differences between regimens in both platinum-resistant and platinum-sensitive group. In platinum-partially sensitive group, however, taxane containing regimen showed significantly longer PFS than other regimens (P < 0.05). In the 6-12 month group, Median PFS of taxane containing regimen was 25 weeks, S-phase inhibitor was 15 week, topoisomerase 1inhibitor was 16 weeks, and topoisomerase 2 inhibitor was 13 weeks, respectively. Conclusion: : PFS of taxane-containing regimen is better than other regimens in platinum-partially sensitive group. There were no significant PFS differences between regimens in both platinum-resistant and platinum-sensitive group.

<P>Matrix metalloproteinase-2 (MMP-2), MMP-9, and urokinase-type plasminogen activator (uPA) are important factors for cancer invasion and metastasis, degrading the extracellular matrix. They are also associated with angiogenesis. Angiogenic phenotype is another feature of high-grade cervical intraepithelial neoplasia (CIN). However, their associations with the progression of low-grade CIN to high-grade CIN are unexplored. We investigated whether these proteolytic enzyme expressions correlate with the progression of CIN. A total of 39 paraffin-embedded specimens from 10 patients with CIN grade 1, nine with CIN grade 2, and 20 with CIN grade 3 were assessed immunohistochemically by specific antibodies against MMP-2, MMP-9, and uPA. MMP-9 expression was higher in CIN 3 lesions (47.4%) than in CIN 1 (22.2%) and CIN 2 (20.2%) lesions, although the difference failed to reach statistical significance. The expression level of uPA and MMP-2 was not associated with the grade of CIN lesions. Interestingly, we found a significant association between expressions of uPA and MMP-2 (P= 0.028). Our results suggest that MMP-9 might play a role in the progression of CIN.</P>
