      • Structure and Performance Characteristics of Saturated Iron-core Superconducting Fault Current Limiter

        Superconducting fault current limiter (SFCL) is a kind of short-circuit current limiting device for power grid. It's a new application of superconducting technology on power equipments. Saturated Iron-core Superconducting fault current limiter (SISFCL) is one of many types of SFCL. It takes the advantage that no quenching occurs in superconducting wires during fault current limiting process. The immediately reacting and fast recovering are also its main characteristics. The structure and function of SISFCL is similar to that of traditional transformer and current limiting reactor respectively. Based on mature technologies on design and manufacture of iron core and windings of transformers, SISFCL could be made at the same voltage level as traditional transformers. But there are also significant differences between them. SISFCL will offer an effective solution to limit short-circuit current in future HV or EHV power systems because of its peculiar structures and properties. In this paper, we introduce the structure and characteristics of the SISFCL developed by Innopower. It may help readers to understand SISFCL and its enormous application value for power grids.

      • Health-related Quality of Life in Women with Breast Cancer: a Literature-based Review of Psychometric Properties of Breast Cancer-specific Measures

        Background: Breast cancer is one of the most common cancers in women in the world. Health-related quality of life (HRQL) at treatment endpoint in cancer clinical trials is widely considered to be increasingly important. The aim of this review was to provide a literature-based assessment of the validity, reliability and responsiveness of breast cancer-specific HRQL instruments in women breast cancer patients. Materials and Methods: The databases consulted were Medline, PubMed, and Embase. The inclusion criteria required studies to: (1) involve use of HRQL measures; (2) cover women with breast cancer under standard treatment (surgery, radiation therapy, chemotherapy, hormone therapy, and targeted therapy); (3) involve the validity, reliability, or responsiveness of HRQL; (4) deal with validation of breast cancer-specific HRQL instruments. Results: A total of 16 studies were identified through the literature search that met the 4 inclusion criteria. Some seven instruments were assessed among these 16 studies: EORTC QLQ-BR23, FACT-B, FACT-ES, HFRDIS, LSQ-32, QLICP-BR, and SLDS-BC. EORTC QLQ-BR23, FACT-B, LSQ-32, QLICP-BR, and SLDS-BC are more general breast cancer-specific HRQL instruments. FACT-EB is the endocrine subscale combined with FACT-B in order to measure the side effects and putative benefits of hormonal treatment administered in breast cancer patients. HFRDIS is the HRQL measure focusing on hot flash concerns. Conclusions: This paper provides an overall understanding on the currently available breast cancer-specific HRQL instruments in women breast cancer patients.

        Fermented cottonseed meal improves production performance and reduces fat deposition in broiler chickens

        Objective: This study was conducted to investigate the effect of fermented cottonseed meal (FCSM) on growth performance, carcass traits, and fat deposition in white-feather broiler chickens. Methods: A total of 480 male one-day-old white-feather broiler chickens were selected randomly and divided into four groups with six replicates of 20 chickens in each. The experimental chickens were fed diets including 3%, 6%, or 9% FCSM fermented by Candida tropicalis until 42 days old. In the experiment, the chickens of the control group were fed soybean meal. Results: FCSM supplementation linearly decreased the feed conversion ratio from d 15 to 21 and d 36 to 42, respectively (p<0.05). The percentage of carcass and semi-eviscerate increased in response to dietary FCSM supplementation at d 21 (p<0.05). The percentage of eviscerated and semi-eviscerate of 3FCSM was higher than that in other groups at d 35 (p<0.05). At the age of 42 d, the percentage of carcass increased in a quadratic way among increasing FCSM in diets (p<0.05). The subcutaneous fat thickness linearly decreased with the increasing levels of FCSM at d 21 (p<0.05). Gompertz and Logistic functions provided a better fit on abdominal fat and subcutaneous fat, respectively. The best fitted equation predicted that the maximum growth rate of abdominal fat weight and subcutaneous fat thickness occurred at d 28. FCSM had no significant effects on the shape of growth curve of abdominal fat weight and subcutaneous fat thickness, but reduced the height of the curve. Birds receiving the 6FCSM diet for 21 d had smaller adipocyte surface and lower serum glucose as well as triglyceride concentration. Conclusion: FCSM is beneficial for broiler chickens as it positively affects their growth and carcass in addition to altering their fat deposition.         The Taliban Factor in the Republic of Korea`s Afghanistan Strategy

        Years of hiding of the Taliban and its comeback in 2006 forms a potential and real challenge to the Republic of Korea`s Afghanistan Strategy. Based on different standpoints, the Republic of Korea (ROK) and the Taliban both have different recognitions of the main contradictions in the three stages between each other. The first stage (2002.July2007), contradictions of anti-terrorism and terrorism activities and reconstruction and anti-reconstruction activities (ROK`s view) and anti-invasion and invasion (Taliban`s view); the second stage (July 2007. end of2009), contradictions of safeguarding and abusing of human rights (ROK) and defending and opposing Islam (Taliban); Third stage (end of 2009 to present),contradictions of assuming and opposing its responsibility to its allies and the international community (ROK) and maintaining and disdaining Pashtu tribal honors (Taliban). While there are complicated contradictions between the ROK and the Taliban and no great progress in the U.S. Afghanistan strategy, it is very hard for ROK to put its Afghanistan strategy into further practice.

      • Technique for Intrusion Detection based on Cutting-based Real-valued Negative Selection

        A novel technique for intrusion detection based on cutting-based real-valued negative selection scheme is proposed in this paper. Different from the current typical techniques, the proposed one sets a much more strict and reasonable mechanism to generate and optimize the set of mutual detector. Concretely, firstly, the new generating detector must be necessary and it should not be detected by the current existing mutual ones. Besides, those detectors coinciding with the self-set will be cut and optimized into several qualified ones which have better detecting abilities. Experimental results demonstrate that the proposed technique has much higher detecting rates.

        해양 문화 창의 제품의 혁신적 디자인 및 다각화 발전 연구

        In recent years, cultural creative industry trend innovation and diversification. With cultural construction highly recommended around the world, the cultural content industry will emerge as a pillar of the national economy. These cultural contents can be created with stories of the culture, history, and geography of the region. Based on this, this study aims to focus on content based on marine culture. This is because it was predicted that it would induce interest in marine culture as well as the cultural promotion of content. Firstly, literature survey and concept analysis are used to analyze the current situation and existing problems of Marine cultural creative products. Then use observation method and case analysis method, research creative product design content, technique and personalized strategy. Finally, the comprehensive analysis method is used to summarize and popularize the application. According to the research, creative products of marine culture should be both creative, practical, aesthetic and cultural. There are problems of single form and insufficient connotation. More creative products are produced by innovative design. The results of this study show that in the development of marine cultural and creative products, it is necessary to inject humanized design concept, combine with other industries, pay attention to innovation, and meet market demand. 최근 수년 동안 문화 창의 산업은 점차 혁신과 개성의 다각화를 지닌 분야로 나아가고 있다. 문화건설이 세계적으로 크게 권장되고 있는 요즘, 문화콘텐츠 산업은 국민경제의 기둥 산업으로 부상할 것이다. 이러한 문화 콘텐츠는 그 지역의 문화, 역사, 지리 등의 이야기를 담아 만들 수 있다. 이를 바탕으로, 본 연구는 해양 문화에 기반한 콘텐츠에 집중하고자 한다. 이는 콘텐츠가 지닌 문화 진흥뿐 아니라, 해양 문화에 대한 관심을 유발할 것으로서 예측했기 때문이다. 먼저, 문헌조사 방법과 개념분석 방법을 통해 문화 창의 제품에 대한 국가별 정의 및 분류를 정리하고, 해양 문화 창의 제품의 현황과 문제점을 분석하고 이를 연구하고자 한다. 관찰법과 사례분석 방법을 통해 해양 문화 창의 제품의 디자인 내용, 디자인 수법, 개인화 디자인 전략을 연구한다. 마지막으로 통합분석 방법을 통해 해양 문화 창의 제품의 보급과 응용 방식을 총화하고, 최종적으로 결론을 도출한다. 연구를 통해 도출된 결과에 따르면, 해양 문화 창의 제품은 창의성, 실용성, 미관성(美觀性)과 문화성을 겸비하여야 하며, 단일한 형식과 풍부하지 못한 내실이라는 해양 문화 창의 제품이 지닌 문제점에 대해서는 과학기술의 혁신을 통해 더욱 정교하고 내포적이며 창의성을 지닌 제품을 생산하여 창의 제품에 문화 콘텐츠를 추가하는 방법을 통해 해결할 수 있으리라 판단되었다. 해양 문화 창의 제품의 발전과 관련하여, 인간적인 디자인 콘셉트를 주입해 기타 다양한 산업과 결합하고, 혁신성을 중요시하는 동시에 시장의 수요를 충족시킬 필요성이 있음을 본 연구의 결과로 제시하고자 한다.

        Effects of dietary multi-strain probiotics supplementation in a low fishmeal diet on growth performance, nutrient utilization, proximate composition, immune parameters, and gut microbiota of juvenile olive flounder (Paralichthys olivaceus)

        <P><B>Abstract</B></P> <P>A 12-week feeding trial was conducted to evaluate the effects of multi-strain probiotics (MSP) in a low fish meal (FM) diet on overall performance, gut microbiota, selected non-specific immune responses and antioxidant enzyme activities of olive flounder (<I>Paralichthys olivaceus</I>) juveniles. A total of 225 healthy olive flounders (initial mean body weight, 13.5 ± 0.01 g) were randomly separated into 3 groups of 75 fish, each group having three replicates of 25 fish; first group was fed with a FM-based control diet (Con), 2nd group was fed with a low-FM diet containing a blend of plant and animal protein meals replacing 30% of the FM protein (FM30), and 3rd group was fed with the FM30 diet supplemented with 10<SUP>8</SUP>–10<SUP>9</SUP> CFU kg<SUP>−1</SUP> of the MSP (Pro). With the exception of lipid retention, which was significantly lower in fish fed the FM30 diet compared to the other two treatments, no other statistically significant differences were recorded with respect to any of the other growth and nutrient utilization parameters. Myeloperoxidase and lysozyme activities of fish fed the Pro diet were much higher and significantly different than those of fish fed the FM30 diet. Glutathione peroxidase activity was significantly higher in Pro- than in Con-fed fish, which, in turn, was significantly higher than FM30-fed fish. Expression of immune-related genes including IL-1β, IL-6, and TNF-α was markedly upregulated in livers of the fish fed Pro diet compared to those fed the Con and FM30 diets. Furthermore, supplementation of MSP in FM30 diet enriched the <I>Lactobacillus</I> abundance in the fish gut as well as predictive gene functions in relation to lipid and carbohydrate metabolisms. These data suggested that the MSP could reduce the potential adverse effects of the low-FM diet and might be used as a healthy immunostimulant for olive flounder.</P> <P><B>Highlights</B></P> <P> <UL> <LI> Low fishmeal diet (FM30) significantly affected the lipid retention of olive flounder. </LI> <LI> The multi-strain probiotics (MSP) improved the activities of myeloperoxidase, lysozyme, and glutathione peroxidase. </LI> <LI> The MSP supplement markedly upregulated the immune-related gene expression of IL-1β, IL-6, and TNF-α in the liver. </LI> <LI> The MSP supplement enriched the predictive gene functions in relation to lipid and carbohydrate metabolisms. </LI> <LI> The MSP could be used as a healthy immunostimulant for olive flounder. </LI> </UL> </P>

        Thrombospondin-2 Couples Pressure-Promoted Chondrogenesis through NF-κB Signaling

        BACKGROUND: Our previous studies found that the mechanical stimulation promote chondrogenic differentiation of bone marrow mesenchymal stem cells (BMSCs), along with up-regulation of thrombospondin-2 (TSP-2). The aim of this study was to explore the effect of thrombospondin-2 (TSP-2) on the mechanical pressure-stimulated chondrogenic differentiation of BMSCs and the possible role of NF-jB signaling in the mechano-chemical coupling regulation toward chondrogenesis. METHODS: Rat BMSCs were isolated, cultured and identified. The time-dependent expressions of TSP-2 and Sox9 in BMSCs under a dynamic mechanical pressure of 0–120 kPa at 0.1 Hz for 1 h were tested by qPCR and Western blotting. The role of TSP-2 in chondrogenic differentiation of BMSCs under mechanical pressure was validated by using small interfering RNA. The impact of TSP-2 and mechanical pressure on chondrogenesis were detected and the downstream signaling molecules were explored using Western blotting. RESULTS: Mechanical pressure stimulation of 0–120 kPa for 1 h significantly upregulated the expression of TSP-2 in BMSCs. The expression of the chondrogenesis markers Sox9, Aggrecan, and Col-II were all upregulated under dynamic mechanical pressure or TSP-2 stimulation. Additional exogenous TSP-2 may potentiate the chondrogenic effect of mechanical stimulation. After knock down TSP-2, the upregulation of Sox9, Aggrecan and Col-II under mechanical pressure was inhibited. The NF-jB signaling pathway responded to both dynamic pressure and TSP-2 stimulation, and the cartilage-promoting effect was blocked by an NF-jB signaling inhibitor. CONCLUSION: TSP-2 plays an essential role in the chondrogenic differentiation of BMSCs under mechanical pressure. NF-jB signaling is involved in the mechano-chemical coupling of TSP-2 andmechanical pressure for the chondrogenic differentiation of BMSCs.
