Investor Information Processing and Trading Volume
Nicky J. Ferguson 한국증권학회 2015 Asia-Pacific Journal of Financial Studies Vol.44 No.2
Examining the impact on New York Stock Exchange trading volume using a sample of global cross-listed firms and distinct information sources from the United States and primary mar- ket countries, I show that investor utilization of information varies significantly with lan- guage, distance-to-source and visibility. Specifically, for firms with greater information processing frictions, such as those in non-English speaking countries located a greater dis- tance from the trading venue and with higher information asymmetries, investors rely on news from the firms’ home market when making their trading decisions rather than United States news, whereas those with fewer information processing frictions utilize both sources of news.
An Online Dimension of Sports Fanship: Fan Activity on NFL Team-Sponsored Websites
Nicky Lewis,Walter Gantz 글로벌지식마케팅경영학회 2019 Journal of Global Sport Management Vol.4 No.3
Sports is a cultural phenomenon that has a pervasive presence in daily life. For fans, sports is a personal and social activity that involves following games across media platforms, talking with other fans, and contributing their viewpoint to the cacophony of voices on sports websites. This study examines one dimension of the active and social nature of sports fanship – that of the extent and timing of fan comments on NFL team-sponsored websites. Using message board activity from ten NFL teams, it documents the pattern of fan postings between games. Fan activity is greatest within the first 24 h of a game and then tapers throughout the week without increasing until the next game begins. Beyond this, fans are more likely to post after their team wins but there is an undercurrent suggesting factors other than game outcomes may account for fan activity.

This study confirms and extends Situational Theory of Problem Solving (STOPS) by examining it in the context of the U.S.-China trade dispute. Using Chinese national survey data (N = 935), this study reveals that the attitude towards China’s stand on the trade dispute as a significant negative mediator between antecedent perceptual variables and multiple communicative actions: online information seeking, online information permitting, and information sharing. This study provides empirical proof of STOPS from a different cultural setting other than the U.S. It not only confirms the theoretical structure of the novel variables developed through STOPS, but also advances the theory by testing the communicative actions in the online realm as dependent variables. Practical implications on crisis communication and political public information management were also discussed.
THE ROLE OF MARKETING COMPETENCIES IN ENTREPRENEURSHIP PEDAGOGY: EVIDENCE FROM UK BUSINESS START-UPS
Vita Kadile,Nicky Kinsey,Cezara Nicoara 글로벌지식마케팅경영학회 2023 Global Marketing Conference Vol.2023 No.07
Research in entrepreneurial marketing (EM) has put considerable effort into identifying various factors associated with entrepreneurial success, including skills and competences of prospective entrepreneurs. At the same time, little consensus exists regarding the relative importance of particular marketing skills. Moreover, the literature to date does not outline any essential marketing-related competencies needed for nascent entrepreneurs. Our study looks to identify specific marketing competencies relevant to entrepreneurial context. A three-stage mixed-methodology approach to data collection is deployed. Qualitative documentary analysis and exploratory interviews provide preliminary findings and guide the design of a subsequent quantitative survey of UK entrepreneurs, resulting in insights into the most beneficial marketing competencies for entrepreneurship. Further, these insights are used to equip educators with improved practice of developing marketing practice for future entrepreneurs. This research is expected to advance the understanding of nascent entrepreneurship research, practice and pedagogy within EM field.

This study examines the impact of media consumption of K-pop and direct contact with South Koreans on American audiences (N=260) attitudes toward South Korea as a country and its products, and behavioral intentions toward visiting South Korea and purchasing products from this country. Parasocial relationship was investigated as a mediator between K-pop media consumption and behavioral intentions. Structural Equation Modeling was used for data analysis and results indicated that direct contact quality significantly predicted all four dependent variables. K-pop consumption time predicted American female participants behavioral intention towards visiting Korea. K-pop consumption frequency predicted participants attitude towards Korean products for both males and females, and male participants behavioral intention towards visiting Korea through the mediation of the parasocial relationship. Mediated contact frequency, but not mediated contact time, predicted participants parasocial relationship with their favorite K-pop stars. Implications on distribution management of export-oriented media content, cross-cultural exchanges, and product placement in media contents were also discussed.

Black soldier fly (BSF) larvae derived ingredients are being considered as sustainable alternatives to conventional animal derived ingredients in pet food formulations. In Europe, legislations permit the use of BSF fat in pet food formulations. However, BSF fat has received very little attention from pet food producers till now. This article examines literature regarding fatty acid profile and some minor components reported in BSF fat. Literature on digestibility, antimicrobial activity, intestinal immunity, and brain health improvement potential has also been carefully reviewed. Finally, some examples of pet food brands using BSF fat commercially were mentioned, and compilation of consumer review scores from popular review websites have also been illustrated. Literature reviewed in this article indicate that BSF fat is highly digestible and has interesting health benefits, thus sup porting its use as functional pet food ingredient. This article also identifies the knowledge gap in the current literature. It is essential to fill this knowledge gap to facilitate the wider use of BSF fat in canine and feline diets.

Liquid–liquid extraction of volatile fatty acids (VFA) from landfill leachate (LL) as well as syntheticsolution (SS) whose concentration varied from 0.2 to 1 mol/L was investigated. The impact of extractantand feed VFA concentration on extraction efficiency (EE), distribution ratio (KD) and loading ratio (z) withthe help of statistical analysis and process optimization using response surface methodology ispresented. Physical extraction of VFA from SS using seven different diluents was performed to choose thebest diluent. Reactive extraction of VFA was investigated with 10–50% (v/v) trioctylamine (TOA) andtributylphosphate (TBP) as extractants in 1-Octanol. Reactive extraction of VFA results disclosedenhancement of EE due to the synergistic chemical interactions between extractant and diluent. Majorityof the acid extractant complexes formed were 1:1 with TBP while 1:1, 2:1 and 3:1 with TOA as verified byz > 0.5 The optimal extractant concentration for TOA and TBP was found to be 37.8% and 39.09% at a feedconcentration of 0.67 mol/L and 0.81 mol/L for SS respectively to achieve maximum EE of 91% while it was29.3% and 36.2% at 0.2 mol/L for LL to achieve EE of 52% and 57% correspondingly.
