This paper describers a bidirectional DC/DC converter for charging and discharging of a supercapacitor. Simulations are carried out to see the operation and performance of the 3㎾-rated converter. Simulation results show that the charging/discharging characteristics is sufficient for the compensation of the response delay of a fuel cell.

This paper deals with a novel 3-phase power quality disturbance generator. The proposed generator can be applied to the performance that of custom power devices. Voltage sag, swell, outage unbalance and phase shift are provided by the generator. The control scheme for the disturbance generation is simple, and hardware setup is cost effective compared with conventional scheme. The operating principle of the generator is described and the usefulness verified through simulation with 10㎸A power rating.

This Paper describes a new 3 phase Sag-Swell generator for the test of custom power devices such as UPS, DVR, DSTATCOM, SSTS, etc. The proposed scheme has good features of simple structure, high reliability, wide range of sag and swell variation. It can also generate voltage outage. The control scheme for the generation is simple. The operation principle of the proposed scheme is described and verified through simulations.

The LC filter has been generally used to filter the output voltage of PWM inverter to the sinusoidal waveform. The resonant voltage on the output voltage of PWM inverter may be generated due to LC filter. This paper proposed the algorithm to damp the resonant voltage using the virtual resistor without decreasing the efficiency by the power loss in the real resistor. The method is appled to the vector controlled induction motor driven by the PWM inverter with the LC filter. The simulation results are carried out to verify the performances of the proposed algorithm.

This paper deals with power quality disturbance generator for the test of STS in power system. The STS used in this system is composed with SCR thyristors. It is necessary to connect the thyristors in series in high voltage system. The major components consisting the generator are SCR thyristors, series transformers, and sliding type auto transformers, therefore, the system reliability is very high. Operating characteristics of the generator are analyzed in each mode of voltage sag and outage. Simulation is carried out for the system with the rated voltage of 330V and 10MVA power rating.

This paper deals with the SCR thyristor switching characteristics of a 3-phase voltage disturbance generator. The series transformers of the generator require bypass SCR thyristors to provide the source voltage to the output terminal in normal operating mode. The SCR thyristor switching characteristics is quite different according to the connection point to the series transformer. The switching characteristics is analysed and verified through simulation results.

This paper deals with the operation of a flywheel energy storage UPS. The ups has good features such as long life-time, improved efficiency, no environment problems, reduced size and space, and low maintenance cost compared with the conventional UPS using battery. The operating principle of the UPS is analysed in each mode including charging, voltage compensation, discharging, and voltage unbalance compensation. Especially, the tracking characteristic of the disturbed phase of the source voltage after outage is analysed. The usefulness of the operation is proved through simulations.

In this paper a novel 3-phase voltage disturbance generator is described. Voltage sag, swell, outage, and unbalance can be provided by the proposed scheme. The main devices of the generator are SCR thyristors, sliding type autotransformers, and transformers, which makes the generator have good features of high reliability, high efficiency, and cost - effective system. Thus the generator can be used for the performance test of the custom power devices including UPS. The operating principle and the characteristics of the proposed scheme are analyzed and the simulation results show the usefulness of the generator.
