      • FACTORS EXPLAINING THE ATTRACTIVENESS OF TOURISM: TOWARDS A SINGLE EXPLANATORY MODEL? THE CASE OF THE MEDITERRANEAN BASIN

2018 Global Marketing Conference Vol.2018 No.07

This study tries to explain through a single model the number of tourist arrivals, using “the human development index” and “the political stability and absence of violence/terrorism index”, for a panel of Mediterranean countries. The sample is composed of seven countries in the Mediterranean region, namely: France, Spain, Italy, Egypt, Morocco, Croatia and Tunisia. In order to explain the attractiveness of tourism, Ritchie and Zins (1978) attached great importance to social and cultural characteristics and to attitude towards tourists. These two attributes are intimately linked to the explanatory variables of our model. These explanatory variables also have common dimensions regarding the three following attributes: hosting infrastructure, destination culture and reception of the local population and security, Ritchie and Zins (1978), Kim (1998), Gallarza et al. (2002), Enright and Newton (2004), Cracolici and Nijkamp (2008) and Jin et al. (2012) consider them as strong attributes of tourist attractiveness. Our panel data model includes the Travel and Tourism Competitiveness Index (TTCI) (2013). This index essentially takes into account the following dimensions: safety and security, health and hygiene, education, training and availability of skilled workers. These dimensions are fully reflected in the two explanatory variables of our model: the index of political stability and absence of violence / terrorism and the index of human development. However, our research is original in comparison with the World Economic Forum's (2013) Travel and Tourism Competitiveness Index (TTCI). Indeed, the econometric model of panel data, presents the advantage of simultaneously studying several countries over a period and using homogeneity and Hausman tests. It constitutes a practical tool to build a single model, valid for several countries and useful forecasting tourist flows. Validated on a statistical and econometric basis with a good predictive quality, our panel data model, i.e. the random effect model, shows that the political stability and absence of violence/terrorism and the human development indexes act positively on the number of tourist arrivals. Thus, it considers safety and security, health and hygiene, education, training and availability of skilled workers and standard of living, as strong attributes to explain the attractiveness of a country.

Different cell disruption methods for obtaining carotenoids by Sporodiobolus pararoseus and Rhodothorula mucilaginosa

Nathalie Almeida Lopes,Rafael Diaz Remedi,Carolina dos Santos Sa,Carlos Andre´ Veiga Burkert,Janaina Fernandes de Medeiros Burkert 한국식품과학회 2017 Food Science and Biotechnology Vol.26 No.3

Since carotenoids are synthesized inside the cell, it is desirable to find an efficient method to extract carotegenic pigments. This study aimed at comparing the effectiveness of different chemical and mechanical techniques to disrupt the cell wall of Sporidiobolus pararoseus and Rhodotorula mucilaginosa yeasts isolated from environmental samples. Among the techniques under study, the ultrasonic bath and the abrasion with glass beads yielded the most promising results for S. pararoseus (84.8 ± 2.3 and 76.9 ± 2.1 lg/g, respectively). The ultrasonic bath yielded the highest specific concentration of carotenoids for R. mucilaginosa (193.5 ± 25.8 lg/g), while the biomass freezing process improved neither the extractability nor the specific concentration of carotenoids. Lyophilization increased the specific concentrations of carotenoids from S. pararoseus and R. mucilaginosa by 20 and 13.7%, respectively, while the freezing process did not significantly affect (p[0.05) the recovery of carotenoids from both yeasts; thus, it may be eliminated from the process.

Prenatal diagnosis of transposition of the great arteries: an updated review

        Nathalie Jeanne Bravo-Valenzuela,Alberto Borges Peixoto,Edward Araujo Júnior 대한초음파의학회 2020 ULTRASONOGRAPHY Vol.39 No.4

Simple transposition of the great arteries (TGA) is a cyanotic heart disease that accounts for 5% to 7% of all congenital heart diseases. It is commonly underdiagnosed in utero, with prenatal detection rates of less than 50%. Simple TGA is characterized by ventriculoarterial discordance, atrioventricular concordance, and a parallel relationship of TGA. The prenatal diagnosis of TGA influences postnatal outcomes and therefore requires planned delivery and perinatal management. For these reasons, it is important to identify the key ultrasound markers of TGA to improve the prenatal diagnosis and consequently provide perinatal assistance. The presence of two vessels instead of three in the three-vessel tracheal view, a parallel course of TGA, and identification of the origin of each of TGA are the key markers for diagnosing TGA. In addition to the classical ultrasound signs, other two-dimensional ultrasound markers such as an abnormal right convexity of the aorta, an I-shaped aorta, and the "boomerang sign" may also be used to diagnose TGA in the prenatal period. When accessible, an automatic approach using fourdimensional technologies such as spatio-temporal image correlation and sonographically-based volume computer-aided analysis may improve the prenatal diagnosis of TGA. This study aimed to review the ultrasound markers that can be used in the antenatal diagnosis of TGA, with a focus on the tools used by ultrasonographers, the obstetric and fetal medicine team, and perinatal cardiologists to improve the diagnosis of this condition.

Fetal cardiac function by mitral and tricuspid annular plane systolic excursion using spatio-temporal image correlation M‐mode and left cardiac output in fetuses of pregestational diabetic mothers

        Nathalie Jeanne Magioli Bravo-Valenzuela,Alberto Borges Peixoto,Rosiane Mattar,Edward Araujo Júnior 대한산부인과학회 2021 Obstetrics & Gynecology Science Vol.64 No.3

ObjectiveTo assess the mitral and tricuspid annular plane systolic excursions (MAPSE and TAPSE, respectively) and cardiacoutput (CO) in fetuses of pregnant women with pregestational diabetes mellitus (DM) using spatio-temporal imagecorrelation M-mode (STIC-M) and virtual organ computer-aided analysis (VOCAL). MethodsThis study was prospective and cross-sectional. It included 45 fetuses each from mothers with pregestational DMand healthy mothers, with gestation ages ranging from 20 to 36.6 weeks. The fetal cardiac volumes were obtainedand analyzed by STIC and VOCAL methods. MAPSE and TAPSE were measured by STIC-M in the apical or basal fourchamberview. The values of the right (RV) and left ventricular (LV) CO were calculated by STIC and VOCAL. ResultsThe median values of TAPSE were 6.1 and 6.2 mm in the diabetic and control groups (P<0.001), respectively. The medianvalues of MAPSE were 4.6 mm in the fetuses of mothers with diabetes and 4.8 mm in fetuses of healthy mothers. The fetal LV CO (60.4 L/min vs. 71.1 L/min; P=0.033, respectively) and RV CO (65.2 vs. 70.1 L/min; P=0.026, respectively)were lower in the pregestational DM group than in the control group. A significant effect of pregestational DM wasobserved in all functional parameters after adjusting, with fetal heart rate as covariant. There was moderate significantpositive correlation between MAPSE and LV CO (r=0.53; P=0.0001) and between TAPSE and RV CO (r=0.46; P=0.0001). ConclusionSignificant difference in functional parameters (TAPSE, MAPSE and LV CO) obtained by STIC and VOCAL wereobserved in the fetuses of the pregestational DM group compared to those of the control group.

OFDM Receiver for Fixed Satellite Channel

        Nathalie Thomas,Marie-Laure Boucheret,Anh Tai Ho,Mathieu Dervin,Xavier Deplancq 한국통신학회 2010 Journal of communications and networks Vol.12 No.6

This paper proposes an orthogonal frequency division multiplexing (OFDM) waveform for the forward link of a fixed broadband satellite system. We focus on the synchronization tasks in the receiver. Our objective is to minimize the required overhead,in order to improve the spectral efficiency with regard to a single carrier waveform system. A non pilot aided algorithm is used for fine synchronization. It is preceded by a coarse synchronization stage, which relies on a limited overhead (short cyclic prefix associated to some pilots). The performance of the proposed receiver is assessed through simulation results.

      • The Social and Fiscal Status of the Art‐Therapist in France

2010 Journal of Humanities Therapy Vol.1 No.-

When he works for a payment, the art‐therapist must be registered on the social boxes and pay taxes to the State. Two possibilities are offered to him: (i) He signs a contract of employment with an employer (we say that there is a link of subordination) and it is this last one who will pay the national insurance contributions. The art‐therapist will pay his taxes himself. (ii) The art‐therapist is “in his account”, that is it charges his services. He will pay himself his national insurance contributions and his taxes. In France, the art‐therapist which begins to be recognized by the professionals as being a member of the multidisciplinary team of care, must not be considered as a simple person receiving benefits. That is why the AFRATAPEM and all the professionals awarded a diploma in Art‐thérapie defend the profession of art‐therapist by requiring a quality of training and a work under the medical authority.

From the personal to the political: : Young, Filipino, and feminist

2021 Asian Journal of Women's Studies(AJWS) Vol.27 No.1

The new generation of Filipino feminists, like all young people, not only have characteristics and experiences that are different from those of the older generation, they are also subject to a culture of seniority. As young women who are conscientized about and act against social injustice, they acquire further distinctiveness. Drawing upon semi-structured interviews and focus group discussions with 29 research participants, I inquire into the critical consciousness and engagements of young Filipino women with feminism. A central finding was their profound and thorough internalization of feminist ideas—not only as praxis, but also as a set of principles and values—which may be viewed to represent young feminist identity within processes of feminist maturation. This study recognizes that broadening and deepening our understanding of young feminists is vital for building and strengthening organizations and the movement and nurturing a veritable inter-generational feminist solidarity.

Communitas and civitas: an idiographic model of consumer collectives

Vol.24 No.3

Variously called consumer collectives, subcultures of consumption, brand communities, consumer tribes and brand cults, consumer collectivism is a rising area ofinterest in scholarly and industry circles. This paper develops an idiographic conceptualmodel for consumer religiosity, specifically those who worship/consume in groups. Producers enjoy the positive market leverage consumer collectives can provide. Collectives develop, maintain and promulgate rituals, traditions, myths andconsumption behaviours. These collectives recruit new users, provide peer support, reinforce the choice to consume the brand and promote the brand to outsiders. Somecollectives produce and engage in product/brand-related events, festivals andpromotions. Generally self-generating and self-sustaining, the collectives do so withlittle support from the producers (Belk & Tumbat, 2005; McAlexander, Schouten, &Koenig, 2002; Muniz & O’Guinn, 2001; Shanker, Cova, & Kozinets, 2007). The model’s foundation derives from the work of the American philosopher JamesCarse. Carse explicates the relationship between churches and their congregations, withthe intent of parsing religions from belief systems. The communitas/civitas modelpresented in this paper uses principles derived from his work. A postmodern worldviewunderpins the civitas/communitas model, accounting for the role of consumption as ameans of identity formation and self-actualisation. The marketing-specific servicedominantlogic paradigm strengthens the model by pinpointing value creation. Themodel describes marketing in a Carsean fashion, as an infinite game, and then expandson the interaction of the communitas (the collective) with the civitas (the producer),using principles derived from philosophy and religion. The model delineates therelationships between producers and consumer collectives, and draws parallelsbetween consumer religiosity and spiritual religiosity. These parallels reveal a rich anddeep understanding of how to manage and leverage these relationships.
